On this July 4th holiday, the engine of our 2012 Tiguan (less than 52k miles, first owner) began to stutter on the freeway and the check engine light started to flash. This occurred at 70 mph in the fast lane of a 6-lane freeway at a merge (I-85 at the merge with GA-400 southbound). Even as the vehicle dramatically lost speed, we were fortunate enough to be able to pull over into the slower lanes safely. Traffic was light and fast that afternoon. I promptly scheduled an appointment with the vw dealership (nalley vw of roswell) for the following morning, anxious to fix the problem. The service technician ran diagnostics on the vehicle and advised me that I needed to replace all four ignition coils and spark plugs. I was informed that cylinder 2 was misfiring. I was surprised to find that coils would fail at as low a mileage and had created an unsafe situation for us. It appears there are numerous instances of coil failure for this vehicle. I contacted and informed vw of the issue. They declined to take any action to compensate me for such premature component failure, let alone acknowledge that the failure made for an unsafe condition on the road. The vw service center replaced all four coils and spark plugs the following day, correcting the problem.

I was driving and the car began to stall and vibrate. I had to pull over and took the car in and the reported that the ignition coil was bad.
Defective fuse link in wiring harness melted together rather than separating causing very high voltage damaging the cpu and ignition coils causing piston misfiring and possibility of engine fire. I have retained the defective part. Mechanic reports both fuse links connecting to two coils are melted and 30,000 volt power bridged these links to damage the other electrical components. Repair was over $2700. Fire was avoided by taking vehicle out of service but severely melted links and high voltage feeding back into electrical system caused very high potential of electrical fire in vicinity of fuel sources. Vw notice to mechanics about problem has been issued but no recall.

Car stalled driving on highway speed, luckily no accident occurred it's very common failure of ignition coil on almost all vw models , failure will cause your car to be inoperable . Vw didn't issue a recall or at least notify owners of vw cars to change their defective ignition coils.
Vehicle rapidly decelerated from 50 miles per hour to approximately 30 miles per hour. Check engine and epc warning lights illuminated. Engine ran rough and acceleration above 35 miles per hour was not possible. Volkswagen dealership replaced all four ignition coils. Volkswagen later agreed to reimburse cost of the ignition coils but refused reimbursement for related labor charges stating no outstanding recall in effect for the ignition coils.
On July 2013 I was driving on turnpike the car start making loud noise and when I use the brake the noise was loudly, I slow down the noise decrees steady that was oil separator leaking vacuum. On 12-2013 epc light when on. I was driving the car start slow down w/ warning ,vw said ignition coil. On March 2014 epc again . On may 2014 epc again ," this time I almost had an accident", car could not go. I pull out and re started car again. My car still the wv services, and paid again. I contact Volkswagen said you have extended guaranteed, that will cover for any repair, they don't care if they customer get kill. My car is not even 5 years to have any unsafe mechanical problems. I bought this car because is one the best, the first 3 years was fine, but now I 'don't know what to do. I still owed $ 12. 000.
