The adaptive cruise control will be working perfectly fine and then it will just stop working. I can be using it all day and then all of a sudden I get in the car and I get up to speed and I go to press the adaptive cruise control button to set it and it starts off trying to set the speed and then all the sudden I get an error saying that it can’t set the speed. However, none of the buttons to try to set it back on track will not do anything you just keep getting the same error code with the little red light on the dashboard with the car in a little parentheses things around it. But if I were to put it in park turn the engine off and then turn it back on it works perfectly fine. It’s been dangerous because that’s happened to me on the interstate and I’ve noticed that it happens quite often when I’m on the interstate so I’m not sure if it’s because of the speed of up to 75 mph that I’m going but it’s also done that when I’ve been going 30 mph and I’ve tried to set it. It’s dangerous because if I have my music up loud I don’t hear the ding and the light on the dashboard doesn’t always catch my attention so I’m assuming that the adaptive cruise control has taken and is working correctly when it’s not. I bought this vehicle brand new on a lease with 100 miles on it and it’s always done it since I purchased the vehicle in September 2021.

The car does not accelerate from a stop especially on hot days after being in stop and go traffic. I step on the gas and literally nothing happens. The engine doesn't rev and the car does not advance. I can push the gas pedal multiple times before it finally accelerates and then it does it in an out of control manner. I have had to sit through a full cycle of a light before it has started. I have brought it to a dealership multiple times with this complaint, but every time they are unable to get it to fail. I brought it in for a recall and the problem was made worse and not better. The car is not safe. The issue began within 6 months of purchase and while it isn't constant, it has been a repeated problem for the past 2 years.

My car hesitates when accelerating at a complete stop. I press the accelerator to pull into traffic and it seems the car just doesn't want to go! this makes it very dangerous to drive period. It takes a few seconds for the car to wake up and finally accelerate.

I have been having serious stalling issues with this car. . . Since the 1st day I received it. When I am driving the car would refuse to accelerate like getting on and off exits on expressway. . . Changing lanes etc. . . It also stalls and the engine stops while driving. . The car has a lane departure assist which pulls the car from 1 lane into the other violently. . . I am hoping to get this car replaced with another line from vw only because my lease is 5 mnths old. . . They are refusing to help me because there is no recall, maybe if someone dies they will give a rat's ass about this issue. . . An issue they had I. 2014. . . . Ease look into this. . Families can die from this problem.

The car gets filled with strong odor of gasoline inside the cabin and I was loosing gas at a rapid rate in addition the car was loosing speed. There is also the problem with the sto-start system, once the car was at a stop, the car would not turn over and start again. It would get stucktrying to turn on and at the same time I was loosing gasoline. I had to remove all passengers from the vehicle including my one month grand son due to the strong odor of gasoline. This incidents occured several times during the weekend of November 1 through November 4th when I dropped off the vehicle at the dealership.
It takes a scary amount of time for the car to speed up when accelerating. The rpm module shows the acceleration but the vehicle doesn't actually speed up to match it. This is a safety issue especially when merging on to the freeway. An accident is bound to happen as I am not able to control the speed of the on coming cars and am unable to get my car up to speed to match the others. Also, the car randomly shuts down when stopped, a message saying please start engine manually pops up. This is also a safety concern and is bound to cause an accident as it happens a few times a month. A few months ago my car turned off when I stopped at the red light, a car was exiting the freeway as the light had turned green so they kept their high speed, I quickly turned my hazard lights on and the car had to swerve to the right lane to avoid rear ending me.
Car stopped and would not start due to timing chain tensioner fualt with code p0016. Caused complete engine failure and the need to completely rebuild the top end of the engine. This was verified after a complete loss of compression due to the valves being destroyed on the engine.
Car hesitates erratically and unpredictably when accelerating. It's most noticeably from a dead stop, but also at speed as well. Sometimes the car accelerates fine, but other times, when attempting to accelerate from a stop to cross a street in busy traffic, the car will just sit unresponsive for seconds and barely accelerate. The unpredictableness of the acceleration behavior is dangerous and an accident waiting to happen. This behavior has been present since the car has been purchased to present. While the hesitation is inconsistent, it is often and common.
I leased my 2019 Tiguan in March 2019. Shortly after (~1,500 miles), I experience my 1st acceleration failure. While attempting to turn left with oncoming traffic (with my 4 year old in the back seat), my car would not accelerate although my foot was pressing the gas pedal to the floor. After multiple seconds and multiple attempts to accelerate forward, I put the vehicle in park, turned it off, turned it back on, put in drive, and was able to complete the turn. Thankfully the vehicles coming towards me were paying attention and halted, or it would've resulted in a collision. This failure happened 3 more times shortly after, 1 of the them occurring when my husband was driving. While getting my vehicle in for service, 1 of the vw employees mentioned they receive calls regarding this same failure every week, sometimes every day. A 2nd vw employee mentioned they have never received a call on this failure for my vehicle. ????. The dealership performed a 26m1 software upgrade that should fix the problem. concerned for not only the safety of my family, but the safety of the drivers around me, I filed a claim with vw corporate and asked to be removed from my lease due to the failures almost resulting in multiple car accidents. They refused to allow me to get out of the lease as my experienced failures do not warrant the ability to be removed from the vehicle. shortly after the software upgrade, my check engine light came on and I've experienced the same failure 3 more times (1 of them while attempting to reverse). Here we are again I have a service appointment scheduled for 09/10 and opened my vw corporate claim back up.
I was driving on interstate 95 north in the fast lane ( at 70 mph), when the "engine exceeds 4000 rpm" warning came on the dash board/system read out and the car lost power and started decelerating (to 40 mph). I continued to push the gas pedal but the car came to a complete stop. I put on my flashers and restarted the car and coasted to the shoulder. I put the park, stopped the car and waited and restarted the car. We entered the highway again and as I tried to accelerate, the car hesitated and decelerated again. This time I moved over to the right shoulder , stopped and got out of the car. My husband's friend was in the car with me and my husband was following behind us. I called my insurance company and explained to them what was happeing with the car and they came and towed the car to ourisman laurel voklswagon. I left a note and a key in the drop off service bow and now 24 hours later I have not received a call from any service personnel. It seems from reviewing other complaints, that several people (more than 20) have had the same issue.
The cars breaking assistance brings the car to a complete stop at any speed. It will break when nothing is around, when backing out of driveway, driving down freeway, and pulling out onto the road.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond when attempting to accelerate. The contact stated that the failure occurred every day while driving in traffic or merging onto the highway ever since the vehicle was purchased on October 18, 2018. The vehicle was taken to gunther Volkswagen (4300 FL-7, coconut creek, FL 33073) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle performed as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
My brand new 2019 vw Tiguan fwd next day after buying showed multiple problems that related to transmission and breaking and a unknown source of rattling sound. I noticed when I cold start the Tiguan and let it idle for 3-4 minutes the normal engine sound slowly goes down but a louder and more noticeable rattling sound comes up. It is heard while driving also. It's concerning but what is more concerning is the that the Tiguan hesitates while shifting gears. I noticed it happens while accelerating from a stop. Not only it hesitates to accelerate you'd feel the cars struggle while shifting gears. Each time the gear is shifting you could feel the car is at a confused state and so you feel it thump. At other times I've experienced the car almost stalls where the rpm goes up but transmission slips. It doesn't change gear. The worst of all is that while slowly breaking the car tried to speed up. The rpm is also seen to go up. The very unfortunate news is that though the dealer's technician drove with me and saw the issue they don't have a fix. Vw corporation also isn't providing a fix. There's other reports of similar problems. The Tiguan has a known transmission problem according to other owner reports. It may not be all Tiguan but my car is a lemon. The problem probably has to do with which location the car was manufactured. This is a very big safety concern. I am very worried about such erratic issues 2nd day. How did vw get past safety boards. They need to solve this issue before devastating events such as death or other things occur. No vehicles should slip gears while accelerating nor speed up while breaking.
Vehicle had been parked for several days. Upon pulling out of a parking space, heard a snapping noise from the steering wheel. Immediately received an airbag error warning, horn ceased to function, and all steering wheel controls stopped working.

The automatic breaking sensors went off for no reason. Car started breaking on it's own. Luckily no car behind me. Car was in motion on a 35 mph part of route 30 in indiana when it started to break suddenly. Took it to the dealership and they could not replicate it. I sent Volkswagen a message and they didn't reply.
The car is having issues accelerating after a cold/hard stop. At stop signs, after stop lights, the car jerks and has a hard time gaining power. On the high way I have issues accelerating. This has become dangerous and scary, I am not in control of he acceleration of my vehicle. I have taken it to the vw dealer one tech said "try premium gas" the next tech says, "nothing is wrong with your car". I am extremely disappointed and ready to change brands after 10 years of being avw owner. This problem is putting my life in danger every day that I drive it.
My vehicle displayed a sign stating that their was low coolant. I took it to the dealer around 14,000 miles and the pcm has been destroyed. The engine hasn't been getting coolant for some time. Once that was replaced my car stopped accelerating properly and rogers really roughly mainly through gears 1-3. It's really dangerous if I need to accurate quickly to merge the response time is off and I have had several near misses. I flagged this with vw and they are refusing to acknowledge that their is an issue. I would like to get this resolved before myself or others are injured.
While driving, no object or anything in the front, the car emits a beep, red flashing collision signal, and slams on the brake. The day is clear, sunny, and daytime. This happened multiple times. Two times, it almost felt like we hit a wall. It caused whiplash and my neck was stiff for a couple of days. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
Accelerator position and engine response on this vehicle is very inconsistent slow to respond from stationary position making the vehicle unpredictable and often unsafe. Depression of accelerator produces inconsistent results ofttimes the vehicle struggles to start moving, then other times from stationary, the vehicle lurches forwards with exact same type of accelerator input. These experiences are in all modes.
The vehicle has a start/stop feature that is on by default and is dangerous when waiting to make a turn. It temporarily shuts the car down and restarts upon release of the brake pedal to move the car forward which causes severe hesitation in excelleration. To make matters worse the transmission in this vehicle jerks and hesitates. When it does finally kick in it causes the car to surge forward to fast and makes it difficult to drive and handle in a turn, epecially with oncoming traffic. Have almost been t-boned a few times due to both of these issues. We dont feel safe in this vehicle!! these issues need to be addressed by volkswagon before someone is seriously hurt. We love the styling and look of our Tiguan but feel the transmission and start/stop issues are very unsafe!!.
Engine on this vehicle is very slow to respond. When I give gas, it struggles to start moving, feels like it is carrying 10k lbs of load behind. I push gas peddle to the floor at a signal light to get away from traffic. Car won't respond for about 1 or 2 seconds, then starts to move, but very slow, crawling, then starts to speed up. Turbo lag is very bad. I don't feel safe. This appears to be a recurring issue that is being reported from customers. To be frank, the size of the vehicle (larger than other models) does not seem to match the engine size. Nhtsa needs to investigate for the safety of other drivers, particularly those who share the same fears.
There is all this hesitation when accelerating almost like a bucking or the engine is not getting enough gas/oxygen mix. Then you can press the gas pedal a quarter of the way down and the engine hesitates then throws the car into high gear and takes off. I have driven a lot of cars the past week even a vw touareg that did not act like this car does with the accelerator. It is like the accelerator is not sending the correct single to the engine or the engine's computer is not interrupting it correctly from the accelerator. The computer in the car can be bad and give a false positive. This vehicle has been to 4 dealerships and field engineers have stated that there is a problem but vw refuses to buy back the vehicle. There have been several requests but they keep getting denied and say there is no fix for the vehicle and I feel it is unsafe to drive. I have almost got into 3 accidents because the accelerator would not react and the car stalled out.
In motion 70mph and control of vehicle lost to system causing vehicle to slow down/brake at rapid rate amongst 70 mph flow of traffic. Prior incident occurred at 40 mph. Driver could not control speed or braking.
Cars response to driver accelerator inputs is hesitant and erratic. Car motion is unpredictably when accelerating from stand still. The performance is not predictable and very without apparent external environmental factors. Unpredictable performance endangers car occupants while entering traffic. The behavior has been determined by dealer as normal against other 2018 models but is different against 2019. Vw us has not returned inquiry requests.
I was turning left off of a hwy. I attempting to accelerate to 40 miles and the car hesitated like it was switching gears, decreased in speed and started shaking. I pulled over, checked the gas cap, - it was closed. Turn car off for a few minutes, restarted, car still shaking. I drove the car to safe place off the road. The car would not accelerate past 20 miles hours. I put the hazard lights on, but they kept going off. Then I called the tow truck. The car had received scheduled maintenance including spark plug changes two days ago, but then this happened. Volkswagon dealer service folks said the problem was the ignition coil misfired. Originally charged 300 to have it fix, then discounted and paid 200. I see there are numerous recent complaints about the ignition coils in the years around my model year, and volkswagon recalled the ignition coil a few years ago for older models. I think they need to extend the recall to cover the 2011 year. This is a safety hazard. I reported it to volkswagon. The car behind me almost hit me in the back. A block further I would have been on a highway driving 70 miles per hour. I love my volkswagon, but this was a dangerous situation.

Vehicle shifted to a lower gear (it is automatic), almost killing our family on the highway.
In February 2014, my Tiguan began stalling when I would slow down to enter an off or on ramp. I would slow down, but when I attempted to speed back up, the car would begin stalling out, at times stalling out completely. I changed fuel, thinking that might be the problem, but it wasn't. My neighbor, who had just bought a 2014 Tiguan, told me he had received a recall notice regarding stalling issues involving the fuel pump in all Tiguans from 2009-2014. I googled the recall, and then made an appointment regarding this issue, taking my car in on may 5, 2014 at hallmark volkswagon, bakers bridge rd in franklin, TN. The service department, according to my paperwork, states they "replaced transfer pump in tank on driver side then test drove. Found fuel pressure still low. Replaced in tank fuel pump (passenger side) then rechecked. Fuel pressures ok and no longer stalls. " since that service date, my Tiguan has been back to be serviced several times, for continued stalling issues, and to date, has not been resolved. The stalling now occurs at different times and more frequently. The "safety issue" regarding the stalling is a serious one, in that when my Tiguan begins stalling out, my foot is on the gas pedal and not the brake, resulting in the driver behind me not knowing that I am either slowing down or coming to a stop. I have come very close to being rear-ended on numerous occasions due to this issue, and it is only a matter of time, before I do get rear-ended, and the likelihood of it being on a highway by a semi truck is very good, as I drive to cincinnati often to see my cardiologist for heart issues. I leave again in 2 days for heart surgery in cincinnati. . . I have 3 things to fear: 1) getting there safely 2) surviving heart surgery 3) getting back safely . . . The stress of driving a car that may, or may not, stall out, is not good for my heart!.

While driving on highway going approximately 55 mph car would not accelerate any further. Cars were speeding by and I could not accelerate. Epc light came on. Had to get off the road and turn the vehicle off. Car has done this multiple times in the past year that I have owned it. Epc light resets after car sits off for a few minutes and problem goes away. Dealer says nothing they can do because the light goes off before it gets to the dealer. When this happens in the middle of the highway, it is very dangerous because you cant accelerate and move to a safe side of the road.
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the accelerator failed to engage. Also, the emergency brake failed to release when in park. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 28,300 and the current mileage was 29,000.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan. While traveling 5 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle would not properly accelerate and begun to surge forward. The vehicle was shut off by the contact and would not restart. Prior to the surging, the contact noticed that the check engine light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the engine was replaced, however the contact was not informed what caused the engine failure. Two months after the repair, the contact was examining the vehicle and noticed that the main fuse box was melted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the fuse box was repaired. The current mileage was 50,000 and the failure mileage was 30,000. The VIN was not available. K.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan. In July 2010, the electronic power control light illuminated. The dealer replaced the accelerator pedal at that time. In October 2010, while the contact was driving approximately 40 mph and attempting to turn, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact was able to restart and drive to the dealer where a few parts were replaced (the name of the parts were unavailable). The contact called the manufacturer who offered to assist with a one month payment towards the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000 and the current mileage was 6,053.
I have been experiencing sudden, unexpected and very scary "surges" with my 2009 vw Tiguan. It has been back to the dealer three times for recall work on this problem. The problem has not been solved. Vw thinks it is a software problem. I believe it is a hardware problem. I found it interesting to read about similar problems being experienced by Toyota owners. I read about this on the abc website which is where I learned about your connection to the problem. The surge in my Tiguan has nothing to do with floor mats. I believe that if vw and Toyota compared notes on all parts in the "surging" cars they may find a common denominator which is causing the problem and perhaps we can save some lives. 16 deaths so far - unacceptable. The surges are very very frightening.
