I have had several incidents where the forward collision activated for no reason. I didn’t keep track of dates because I did t realize I would need to. Then I began having other issues: incident 1 June 7, 2025: I was driving down the road and lost all power. Car wouldn’t start back up. Got a jumpstart and didn’t have any issues like that after that for two months. Issue 2: July 3, 2025: infotainment center went completely black. Callled dealership and they told me it wasn’t under warranty. July 11, 2025: backup camera came on in reverse. August 3, 2025: backup camera came on while in reverse. August 15. 2025: backup camera came on in reverse. August 27, 2025: went to start car for in morning and it start, just made strange sounds along with clicking. Put on battery charger for 20 minutes, started it and let run for a few minutes. It was fine after that. August 27, 2025: displayed the welcome to Volkswagen three times today. Backup camera came on. August 28, 2025: sitting in my car without power on and the welcome to Volkswagen displayed on infotainment screen.

The car stalls and lags out when accelerating and appears to slip gears (daily). The dealership stated this is normal for the car to do, but it’s very scary and nearly caused me to be rear ended. The car turns off at a stop light (unexpected ) and has to be restarted. I am experiencing jerking and sputtering of the vehicle when at a complete stop. First the car indicates the start/stop function is deactivated, then the car produces a message stating the engine speed max is 2500 rpm. Then the epc light comes on and/or the check engine light. I initially took my car in to the dealership for maintenance (standard) in October. I have since returned 2 more times due to the same issue. Upon starting the car tokay, the car started jerking and this time the check engine light came on and continued to blink. The car started rattling loudly and I turned off the engine for about 10 minutes, called the dealership and they advised me to pay to have it towed if the issue persists. This will be the 4th time in 2 months. Each time the diagnostic stated the issue caused by “sensors” and the warranty allowed this to be fixed at no cost. I am also expecting unexpected blackouts of the infotainment system which prevent me from using the rearview camera for when in reverse.
Front sensor for frontal collision, lane keep and adaptive cruise control. Warning lights including sos will come on with a message saying no sensor view, and safety systems not available. Comes on randomly when driving.

Vw customer # 06426725. Rear hatchback opened two (2) times all by itself while parked in my garage overnight. The hatch door could not open all the way up because it came in contact with my garage door. Since I was not readily able to see the hatch was open, it was open enough to come in contact with my garage door when I opened the garage door from the garage door button at the front of the Tiguan. Now my garage door is damaged and my vw Tiguan rear hatch door is bent but still operational. Vw customer service region has offered no help or assistance to allow the vw dealer to further investigate the problem. I am appalled the the natsha has not investigated this further as I know it has been happening with other vw Tiguans. If children sit at the rear hatch while driving, then the child may fall out of the vehicle and end up as a fatality. If a large bag of dog food falls out then it could cause a fatality for the vehicles behind the vw Tiguan. The front warning/brake assist engages at low speeds when going down a small crest downward to exit a place of business onto a street. Again vw dealer looked but could not replicate. This unwanted stop can result in a fatality if the driver is required to merge quickly onto a major road.

Travel assist goes on and off at random times . The wipers turn on and off by themselves. Also the front collision warning light comes on randomly. . What should I be doing with this vehicle… I’ve read many reviews that other people have the same issues.
I was driving down a completely clear road, not a single car or turn in sight. When suddenly my cars front collision warning comes on the screen and brakes my car for me. There was no advance warning, just hard braking.
Twice now I’ve been driving with no vehicles or anything in front or even behind me & the big red collision warning comes on & the brakes activate.

On April 19, 2024, I took this vehicle to galpin vw for service on the collision warning system which began to malfunction on a daily basis and would spontaneously come on multiple times throughout the day, without any other vehicles in front of me nor around me. The service advisor at this service center, pedro silva, declared to me and my wife that this vehicle was unsafe to drive and stated that he is in contact with vw and their engineering department which instructed to run additional tests on this vehicle. This vehicle now has been in service for this same issue for 6 days and running, including the previous attempt to fix this same issue at winn vw earlier in the week, which failed to result in any correction. The galpin advisor further stated that he can not release the vehicle to us in this condition and must continue working on this serious issue in which we agreed, since we can not accept such a vehicle in this extremely dangerous condition.
When pulling out of a driveway with slight decline automation braking engages without warning and stops the car. Almost was hit by a car since my car stopped in the road while making the turn. Almost rear ended another time while pulling out of a parking lot. Brake engaged without warning but luckily the car behind me stopped before hitting me. There was not another car in front of me either time so no reason to brake. I took the car to the dealer after first incident and they said nothing was wrong with it.
I have had to replace multiple windshields for something barely hitting it on the freeway - I think this is my 4th windshield and have not been driving near big trucks or construction during the incidents. Another issue is that I have had the car abruptly break in both leaving the parking lot and on the freeway in traffic thinking I am going to hit something when nothing is there which seems to be a sensor issue.

1-most importantly, while driving my vehicle on 4 separate occasions I am alerted of possible impact or close vehicle and the car hard brakes by itself on 2 of theses malfunctions I was almost rear ended. 2- I was sitting in my vehicle on a phone call in my buildings garage and my windshield just cracked out of nowhere. Nothing hit my vehicle and a crack just started rising from the bottom of the left drivers side straight across the center of my windshield . 3- on several occasions while driving my radio/gps display just blacked out and I had to reset it in order to get it back on. 4- my front suspension sounds like is is going to fall out of the car when I hit the smallest of bumps, it almost sounds like it was installed and never tightened up. 5- when it rains or snows the sensors on the vehicle start bugging out and alerting me of multiple hazards when in fact there is nothing near me. This issue may be related to the earlier mentioned statement #1 this could be a scary thing for some people.
Frontal collision warning activated on it's own for no reason resulting in a very unsafe condition apart from it being frightening.
Since I purchased this vehicle new, there have been several persistent, and dangerous problems. I have repeatedly reported these to my local dealership, larry miller vw, in lakewood, colorado, and they have effectively ignored me. The first problem is with the steering column/lane assist functions. The failure light/beep for lane assist is frequently alarming, and the control of the steering changes depending on whether lane assist is "on" or "off" or malfunctioning. Sometimes the steering jolts severely in one direction. This is manifestly dangerous. The second problem is that the radio malfunctions in all manner of distracting and dangerous ways. The radio sometimes shuts off without warning and cannot be turned back on. Sometimes the sound remains "on" but the screen goes "black" so that you cannot read a map or make a selection from the control menu. Sometimes the radio alarms that the driver is about to hit an object in front or in back of the vehicle, when there is no object anywhere around. This is very dangerous because the alarm is loud and the brakes are applied if the car believes an object is near. I have videos of these problems occurring. There is no specific date as these problems have been happening since I purchased the car new, until today, 7/10/24.

My vehicle's front assist collision sensor will engage itself while going down some driveways regardless of how slow or angled I try to exit (I always make sure that my exit and turns are safe from any ongoing traffic so the sensor is only being tripped from ground in front of the sensor). I have been almost been rear ended three times because of this and almost hit from the side when the the sensor engaged when I was more than halfway out into the first lane to make my turn. Vw dealer that I bought the car from said, it is the driver's responisbility to manually turn off the front assist collision sensor each and every time you intend to drive the car.
The blind spot warning, forward collision warning and parking collision warning suddenly stopped working even though they showed that the features were enabled in the car's dashboard settings. Fortunately, I realized this and took it to the dealer for repairs.

Tl- the contact ownws a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph when a vehicle in front suddenly stopped causing the contact to rear end their vehicle. The vehicle's forward collision prevention system had failed to alert the contact that there was a vehicle in front. The vehicle's air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed. The vehicle was deemed totaled. The contact did receive abdominal, chest, and back injuries. Medical attention was needed. A police report filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (hendrick Volkswagen of concord 7500 hendrick auto plaza NW, concord, nc 28027; (704) 743-4110) who were made aware of the issue, however, the manager had contacted them back as promised. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case regarding the issue. The failure mileage was 37,997. Gl.
My car alerts me at random times when I am driving down open winding roads that I am going to get in a collision when there are no cars or other vehicles on the road. It also goes off when I'm driving through construction and there's cones on the side of the road but I'm not even close to hitting. In michigan, we have a lot of construction so it shouldn't be going off and scaring me all the time. It will also happen in spurse, so it'll go off three or four times on the same road in the same day and then not go off again for weeks. I've taken it in to the dealer twice to be looked at and both times they found nothing wrong. It continues to randomly alert be when I am not in danger of an accident but it ends up scaring me anyways and making me think I'm about to be hit. It has gone off on the highway, open roads, city streets, and construction zones. Thankfully the auto-breaking hasn't turned on but I'm also concerned it will and then that itself will cause an accident. I belive whatever sensor it uses is faulty, but again the dealership has reaffirmed be twice that they saw no issues with it.
This vehicle's forward collision warning system is inaccurate and dangerous. It is very prone to errant activation. At least once a month, the vehicle's collision system would detect objects that were not there (often, when there was no traffic and also no roadway barriers like guardrails). These activations would result in the vehicle slamming on it's breaks, which culminated in warped brakes and premature wear on the vehicle. It was also hazardous to any vehicles driving behind me, as well as occupants of the vehicle - due to sudden jarring. My local vw dealer acknowledged this is a common problem with no solution, and not worth doing diagnostics on.
