My car has had a water leak from the panoramic sunroof. I saw the water coming in from the back passenger seatbelt holes on both sides of the car. I brought the car in to get fixed, I was never toldwhat the issue was and had to ask for official paperwork. Apparently the sunroof drain lines were "kinked and clogged. " my car was in service 7/28/20-7/30/20 for that issue. There was significant mold growth on the rear floorboards and smelled of mildew. I noticed severe condensation on all interior windows 8/4/20 and made an appointment to get my car looked at 8/6/20. I could not drive the car right away since I could not see out of the windows. I had to physically dry them with a towel. I was then told they could not find a leak, but there was still water entering the car and the floorboards were wet. The car has been in the shop since. Another car was in service for the same exact issue while I was there, I witnessed the mold myself. I researched my VIN and there was no recalls or service bulletins from vw.
Faulty and failing drains in all 4 corners of panoramic sun roof have caused extensive water damage on pillars, headliner, carpet, pad and seats in front and back seat, passenger and driver side of car. Moisture inside of cabin creates fogged windshield and unknown potential electrical damage.

After rain drivers side front & rear carpet is soaked.
Tl the contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that the windshield wipers independently slowed down upon the vehicle ceasing forward motion. The contact stated that while driving in the rain at approximately 35 mph and upon making a left turn, the windshield wipers independently slowed down to intermittent speed with the windshield wipers set to full speed. Tl the contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v467000 (visibility). The contact stated that she was unable to open the front driver's door and smelled a burning odor. The contact noticed a black spot on the sun roof and smoke. The fire department arrived and broke the driver's side window as flames appeared. The fire department extinguished the fire and filed a report. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 17,000.
The issue involves ongoing water intrusion through the panoramic sunroof, front power windows, and windshield seals. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This recurring leak has caused extensive interior water damage, including visible mold growth in the carpet on multiple occasions. This mold presents serious health risks to both me and my passengers, especially my sister, who is undergoing cancer treatment and has a severely compromised immune system. Water pooling beneath the carpet also threatens critical electrical systems located in the floor area, including the vehicle electrical system control module (j519), can/lin bus wiring, door control harnesses, and footwell circuits. Corrosion or shorting in these systems could lead to unpredictable failures in safety-critical functions, even if not immediately apparent. Although Volkswagen dealerships have cleaned the sunroof drains as part of routine service packages, no formal diagnosis or confirmation of the leak’s source has been made. Independent mechanics have confirmed clogged drains and flushed debris to restore water flow. In 2019, I replaced the windshield at my mechanic’s recommendation because the interior glass was frequently soaked with morning condensation. Despite these measures, the sunroof continues to leak whenever it rains. No warning lamps or dashboard messages have ever appeared related to this issue. The first visible symptom occurred several years ago—possibly as early as 2019—when water began leaking from the passenger-side sun visor and headliner immediately after a car wash. Given the persistent nature of the leak, the associated mold hazard, and the risk to vehicle electronics and occupant safety, I believe this defect warrants manufacturer accountability and recall consideration rather than a temporary repair.

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that the sunroof was leaking into the vehicle. The contact believes there was a defect in the draining system on the sunroof and sent in a video to NHTSA. Webmaster@dot. Gov with the ref # 225813. On December 7th, 2018 I was driving about 65 mph when I heard an explosion load enough to make my ears ring. I looked up and discovered that the sunroof had exploded and fine particles of glass were raining down on me through the sunroof sunshade. Nothing hit the sunroof to cause this as there was no other traffic, overpasses or construction on the road at the time. The attached photos show that the sunroof exploded out. The vehicle was going straight down the road at about 65 mph. We are putting the repair through our insurance with a $500 deductable and as yet we do not know the final cost of repair as it is still being worked on. Damage being repaired is the sunroof glass, sunshade and the roof had to be repainted because it was scratched by broken glass.

The windshield of this vehicle was designed to be lighter weight to increase fuel savings. This in turn caused the windshield to be more fragile. Rock chips immediately cause cracks in the glass, and larger object penetrate to the polymer sub-layer easily. This is a major safety issue in states like colorado that still use gravel for traction on ice.
1) low beam headlights have a very short range, perhaps as little as 100 feet with a very sharp cut-off. Almost hit a deer because although I was driving at 30 mph, I could barely see the deer as it crossed the road. This was evident on a straight country road with no street lights while the car was in motion driving straight. This is a serious safety issue because it's dangerous to drive on low lit or unlit roads at night. The fix would be a redesigned headlamps (both sides) or a brighter bulbs. Nhtsa safety rating site shows the problem clearly. It's dangerous. 2) windshield wipers continue to streak although they were replaced by the vw dealer, elgin vw, which did not fix the problem. The streaking creates a blind spot on the right part of the windshield. Unable to see to the right front at intersections.
Purchased the 2018 Tiguan on September 16th, entered service on October 10th with two b pillar rattles, excessive wind noise from drivers door and a screen flicker with the back-up camera. Car has remained in service for 21 days and no resolution from Volkswagen.
Vw new model inside rearview mirrors are self dimming (electrically) but they do not dim as much as the mechanically (driver) dimming mirror of prior years. Driver eye fatigue and glare, especially for older drivers, with this device is made unbearable, especially with new white, halogen following headlights. If there is a specification for a mirror dimming feature, it is not being met by vw, since any regulation would require compliance equal to prior type dimming mirrors.

Safety issue! leased the vehicle in January. Two incidents when all vehicle lights turn off while driving in the dark. Happens when in motion and when it is dark or foggy out. Have brought in to Volkswagen dealer 2 times for repair and happened again for the third time while driving in the dark. When this occurs the wipers also go off automatically yet it is not raining. Then when the vehicle is parked, the headlights stay on and will not turn off and kills the battery.

I was on a city street in nova scotia with the family in vacation, I was driving like 50 km/h and epc light and engine light came on and on the dash board it said engine fault workshop . My car was starting to act weird , not taking speed , not changing gears my acceleration pedal was pushed at max and it seems like the car was loosing speed. I pull over on the side of the road turn engine off and wait for 4-5 min , when I star car again epc light was off only engine light remain on and no message on the board. Car seems to be good for driving. I reach at the camp ground where we wore and park the car. 20-30 min later my wife want to take a load of laundry to the camp laundry place and wash them, I give her the key for car and when she tried to start , the car wasn't starting. I unplug battery pug it back in nothing was working. I call a toe track to take the car to a vw shop in truro (vantage motors). They told me they fix the problem, they have to change a relay 460 under the driver dash and move a fuse #5 to #7 under the hood and they took the car for a test drive and everything was good, now I can come and pick the car from them 279$ bill. Because I was in a such a hurry to get back home in new brunswick I didn't check to see if car is fully operational, and I didn't have to, because they told me they took it for a test drive. Now on my way down to home I realize my fans are not working, cigarette plugs, windshield pumps on front and back, and windshield wiper on the back are not working, I call the vw shop in truro to find out what is the problem and if is a way for me to fix it. They told me it can be multiple problems to take the car when I reach home to my vw shop in st. John nb.

Water leaks into roof and a pillar down the door into the floor on both sides of vehicles. Was washing the vehicle and saw water dripping in through the door into the vehicle. Noticed water pooling up in head liner above the a pillar, down through the trim of a pillar, down the dash between door and frame of car, into the floor. Since this vehicle has curtain airbags in the a pillar am worried about corrosion affecting the airbag operation or an electrical short of some kind. Water pooling can create an unsafe mold/mildew issue. The vehicle was stationary when this happened. This vehicles has a panoramic sun roof. Have searched the internet and there are multiple complaints of water damage, water leaking into the vehicle.
Tl - the contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the sun roof exploded without any warnings. The vehicle was taken to dealer. The technician was unable to diagnosed what caused the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5,000. Pm.

Water spots on windows. They collect dust making visibility difficult. Can not remove water spots with alcohol, ammonia, or professional fine-cut cleaner.
When placing the car in reverse, the viewing screen suddenly turns dark and unviewable, therefore creating a driving hazard for todays driving requirements. The company says they can't do anything about the condition?? this has occurred in all the 2 years I have had the car. Other vw owners have the same condition.
There is a panoramic sunroof leakage. Which has possibly cause electrical lighting outage. The leakage has also caused excessive condensation, causing visual impairment when driving.
