1 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 08/25/2017

After 20z4 fuel pump flange recall was done I noticed a rattle and strong gasoline smell. Tilted up rear seat and discovered seat bolts not tightened and missing. Rear seats have to be removed to access top of fuel tank to replace cracked flange and apply foil to flange if not cracked. Seat bolts and safety belt bolts are supposed to be replaced with new bolts with loctite; not reused. The 20z4 recall should require new seat bolts to be installed when the seats are re-installed.

2 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2005 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 06/09/2012

I manually lowered the rear seat back to allow increased cargo area. After removing the cargo, I could not raise the rear seat back to it's upright position. The center seat belt had locked it self in a way holding the seat back down not allowing the seat back to be raised to an upright position. A recall was issued 3-28-2005 regarding this dangerous seat belt malfunction problem effecting 50483 vehicles but fell short in failing to include the center rear seat belt in the recall. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer are legally obliged to fix this situation at their cost. At this time my only option is to pay the dealer to un-bolt all three rear seat belts from the frame, remove and disassemble the entire rear seat, remove the center seat belt from inside the seat back, install a new and working seat belt assembly and finally, put the car back together all to the tune of their hourly rate plus parts. In the mean time, my 5 passenger car is a 2 passenger car. Hope to have a response soon. Thank you for your attention in this frustrating situation.

3 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/26/2012

The power seat knob/switch design causes the seat back to recline when entering and exiting the vehicle. On numerous occasions I have fallen/slid back into the seat when exiting because the seat back would recline. On such occasions it's like losing one¿s balance as you try and stand up by using one¿s body to push off the seat. On numerous occasions the heavy Touareg door unfortunately closes and has slammed on my legs causing bruising and pain. When my partner, who has a bad back, tries to enter and exit the Touareg, the reclining seat back has caused her to slide on the seat and tweaking her back and causing unprecedented harm. My continued fear is when trying to exit the vehicle on busy streets because when I have had to not exit fully because of traffic, the back seat support is gone causing me to once again slide into the reclined seat back and getting my legs once again caught by a heavy door. I had this issue since my first week of ownership and it is documented with the dealer. I recently found out vw recognizes the issue as they reengineered the seat knob and backing bezel to stop this issue but prior to the fix owners are not eligible because they consider this reengineered fix to be just an ¿accessory. The fix started to appear within the 2013 model year.

4 Mid/rear Seats Assembly problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/15/2004

1. The clock on the dashboard: the time is running almost 1 minute faster per day. If you don’t fix it for 10 days, it would run 10 minutes ahead. 2. The driver’s seat: when I purchased this car, I asked for power seats but the dealer didn’t have it. I was a little uncomfortable with the manual seat, but the sales person convinced me, so I decided to take the one with manual. Since then, i’ve felt that the driver’s seat is always sinking down so I consistently have to pull up the stick to push up the seat quite often while i’m driving. 3. Rear seat: I had to fold the rear seat once to load something in the back. After, I tried to unfold the seat but it didn’t go back. I brought this car to the dealer’s service on Nov. 15th, 2004. While one of the service persons was trying to unfold the rear seat, he had to cut the seat belt and has scratched the seat and broken some piece on the seat. He said he’s going to order some parts and it would take a few days. Ever since then, nobody knows the status of this order. Both the service dept and the “customer care dept, in headquarters have always been telling me “it’s on backorder with “no further information, and they “don’t know when for last six months. I asked them “if you don’t have the part, even in germany, how long will it take for the manufacturer to make the part? and they keep saying is “don’t know and “we are still checking the status of the part everyday. € in a common sense, the period of four months should be enough time to make the part and ship it to the dealer. I also sent a complaint letter to the ceo of the dealer/mckenna & vw north America headquater a couple of months ago. But still they don't know about the part.
