The contact owns a 2004 Volvo S40. While the contact started the ignition, the air bag warning indicator began to illuminate continuously until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, where the front driver's side air bag was replaced. One year later, after the repair was performed the failure recurred. 2 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2009

The event leading up to the failure is simply a defective part after some usage due to a poor welding job at manufacture. Volvo has only recalled one vehicle to my knowledge but they needed to recall all vehicles during that year. The failure is the car has a hard time stopping when the brakes are applied the care continues to move and rough engine idle. The parts that were replaced were the vacuum pump and valve at brake booster, hoses, lines and fittings. Repair cost $840. The air bag light has continued to come on/off since the purchase of the car. It is defective. The drivers side sips bag needs replacing total cost $801.

3 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2004

Multiple failures. Air bag system, problem starting and noise in steering. The vehicle also had an air condition problem. The air bag light illuminated on 3 occasions. The consumer stated the passenger seat was equipped with a device that weighed passengers to determine if the air bag should be activated.
