Body Problems of Volvo S40

Windshield bonding has failed on the top edge of the windshield. It leaks and I can move the glass easily. I am worried that the windshield will fall out in a crash and reduce the airbag performance.

I was driving 65mph on highway 101, just south of willits, California, when my sunroof exploded. I heard a loud explosion sound and immediately pulled over to figure out what just happened. I could see that my sunroof was mostly gone and there was pieces of glass falling on me. I called my husband to help calm me down, as my heart was racing and I was shaking. I put my hazards on an pulled over a little more for safety. Just then I noticed a man walking toward me from further up the highway. I got out of the car and could hear the conversation that the man was having while on his phone. When he hung up the phone, he stated the he called 911. The man explained that he was passing me and witnessed what looked like ice coming up out of my sunroof and it hit his car. The man was visibly upset, but could see that I was not at fault, and acted appropriately. The man said that the glass had chipped the car that he was driving. He appeared as surprised as I was about the situation. The man helped me to pick up the loose glass and the glass on my seats. He then suggested moving up the road a few hundred feet where he was pulled off, as the highway patrol were in route. The hp made sure there were no injuries and asked that we exchange insurance. We both took pictures, I gave my information to one of the chp officers and drove home. I immediately called my insurance company. When explaining what happened to the agent he stated that he had never heard of this happening, which prompted me to research "exploding windshields" and led me to several articles on the matter. I am now responsible for not only fixing my car, but also the paint job on the car of gentleman who was passing me on the highway when it occurred.

Me an my husband was driving the car an it started to run hot so we went an got the part to go on the car an when when we got back to my father in law house the car cut off an started to smoke real bad then went into flames an when we first got the car we got everything fix on it an then when you plug the montior to the the car it said we had ten codes up there an they was the same codes that was on the car an we know we had got everything fix on the car an we was still having problems with the car no we out of a car cause it went into flames.

My husband and I both own 2010 Volvos. Mine is S40, his xc60. We have both had leaks relating to faulty sunroof drain. Dealer repaired and replaced for my husband at no cost, but fought with me - because I am a woman - until my husband came with me to dealership. Even though they ultimately fixed the sunroof drain, there is still the stench of mold or mildew in my car. My husband also had a leak develop in his windshield. Dealer told him that there was a faulty coating on windshields this model year and they replaced his windshield at no cost. Just now, I was out driving, it started raining, and water started pouring in through my windshield. (luckily I was just arriving at my destination, and I was able to wait until the rain subsided before driving home, because there were multiple steady streams of water pouring on to me and the steering wheel when the rain was at its peak. ) apparently my windshield has the same problem that my husband's had. I know there is already a class action lawsuit brewing about the leaky sunroof drain, and I see that there are hundreds of people online complaining about this. I also see that there are lots of people online complaining about the windshield leak. This is ridiculous. How can Volvo knowingly let buyers of its cars drive around knowing that they are in danger of having rain pour in on them as they are driving? or that the interiors of their cars will be soaked and polluted with mold and mildew? is NHTSA going to do something about this????.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who informed that the sun roof drainage system was clogged and water entered into the vehicle which caused damage to the electrical system. This is the 3rd time that my car has completely stopped and gone idle when I have children in my car. Since March of 2015 my car stops in the middle of the busy highways in houston. It starts shaking and also won't let me accelerate when I press on the gas and it is so scary for me and my kids. I have had the throttle body repaired at first and and just last week I had it completely replaced. I have paid over 1,000 dollars within the last month on this electronic throttle body issue and I would like for it to be known that this car isn't safe. It has put my life at risk and my kids as well! we were almost killed tonight because our car idled again in the middle of highway 45 and the people who almost ran into us swerved into another lane and missed us literally by mere inches and we caused a collision between two other vehicles. I am tired of dishing out money and I have receipts to show for it. It hasn't even been a week since the throttle body was replaced. Something needs to be done about this! I have children and this car is not safe! I was told that this was a safe car and the car fax was clean. I want to know why I am having so many problems and why my money is going to waste. I see where this etm issue isn't uncommon in Volvo's and that there was a recall a few years ago. I have receipts from all of these repairs I've had done and I would appreciate if someone would reach out to me and let me know what can be done. I have to get to work and I also have to get my kids from point a to b safely. I can't afford a brand new car and I can't afford to lose my life or my kid's either. So an explanation would be nice.

Vehicle passenger rear floor flooding continuously. One day the windshield wipers wouldn't turn off and none of the interior electrical equipment would work, no power windows or locks. Drove to Volvo, they stated clogged sunroof drain and that floormat had affected the ecm under the steering column. They cleared drain and cleaned floor for $1k. A year later the front drivers seat floor started flooding. Experienced many electrical problems since. Including an instance entering the highway when the power steering seemed to go out and the car stalled. The screen told me to pull over safely. Very scary.

Battery was drained, and this caused car not to start at 150 miles. Srs light kept coming on at 1100 miles. This indicated that there was something wrong with airbags. At 1400 miles, srs light appeared again after dealer had corrected problem. The vehicle failed to start. The forward and backward seat adjustment was not working. There was noise coming from the sunroof. The engine was noisy. The engine light came on.

About 2 or 3 weeks ago I noticed something that was hanging from the front part of the car. I contacted the dealer and they informed me it was an engine covered, since I am leasing the car I requested to be repaired. The dealer informed me it was not covered because the damage was caused by me. He also told me vovos are too low in the front and if you pushed against a car bumper or something like that it will cause the engine cover to fall. As far as know this is not in the manual and was never informed of this vovos problems. They charged me $151. 06 to replace the engine covered.
