2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2008 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 08/03/2021

After buying the vehicle on 7/9/21, the car started having problems with the cooling system. I took it to a repair shop and they said the cooling system was overfilled. The air problem continued. I took it back to the dealership who said they fixed it but it continued. I contacted the prior manufactuer service center who informed me the computer chip was recommended to be replaced when the dealer had it serviced but they declined, causing all the electrical and cooling issues. I called the dealer and they said they had the alarm disconnected also which was why the computer system wasn't working. The alarm system doesn't work and I have had to replace the key fob 3 times. I took it to another repair shop who diagnosed the following as permanent failure codes: 6 cem codes, 1 ecm code, 6 srs codes, 2 dim codes, 11 cem-hs codes, passenger and driver door codes, 4 climate control codes, 1eps code, 4 swm codes, dd11, all of which are safety hazards.

There have also been problems while the car has been slowing down on the freeway, specifically when the brakes are being engaged the car will attempt to move forward as though it is trying to push pass the fact that the brakes are being engaged. As well as the car will accelerate faster than the gas pedal is being pushed e. G when the gas pedal is slightly pushed the car will accelerate quickly as though the gas pedal was being pushed upon firmly.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2001 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 03/13/2013

My car vibrates whenever I reach 60 mph and continues to vibrates if I try to accelerate but stops when I decelerate. I was told it could be a balance problem but why would the whole car vibrate? I was also told it may be worn or old motor mounts, which I believe that more than it being a balance problem. I just need to know for certain so I know what to have replaced and how much I may have to spend.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2000 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 10/02/2012

I was stopped at a red light behind several cars. The light turned green and I took my foot off the brake, but did not put my foot on the accelerator. The car engine revved up and lurched forward despite me attempting to break heavily. The brakes would not fully decompress causing me to rear end the vehicle in front of me. I purchased the car used with 134,100 miles. I noticed about 5 months after purchase that the engine would rev and the rpm's would remain high without pressing on the accelerator and the car will move approximately 10-15 mph without pressing on the accelerator. When roads are wet or when it has been raining, the car is difficult in braking and the brakes often "freeze" where the brake pedal cannot be depressed. Brakes were replaced, but the issue persists. Also, at times, the car engine continues to rev when pressing on the brakes. Lastly, the engine light came on, it was indicated via a diagnostic test that there was a misfire with one of the spark plug coils. All spark plugs and coils/ignition coils were replaced, engine light persisted. At the time the temp sensor and the thermostat was replaced as the ignition coils and spark plugs did not alleviate the issue. When a following diagnostic test was performed indicated that the coolant temp sensor has low voltage. Sometimes the car engine will turn, but the car will not fully turn on and I need to wait about 10 minutes (or until the fan turns off) before being able to attempt to start the car. Due to the issues with the car, the car cannot get an inspection sticker, and it does not seem safe to drive. Due to massachusetts car laws, we cannot sell the car due to lemon law and the car is worth more than scraping. We also had a broken axel and coil that were replaced after hitting a pothole.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 12/01/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Volvo S40. The contact stated the brake warning light would illuminate while driving at any speed, causing the vehicle to shut down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times for the failure and the dealer reprogrammed the computer software each time. On a separate occasion, the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer advised the computer module would need to be replaced. The manufacturer advised an inspector would assess the failure further. The contact was awaiting results. The failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 40,000.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2001 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 09/11/2008

The contact owns a 2001 Volvo S40. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, and driving at any speed, there was excessive vibration inside the passenger compartment. The failure occurred mostly while idling and has progressively worsened over time. The dealer stated that there were no failures with the vehicle and the vibration was typical. Recently, the vehicle was taken to a Volvo specialist and he diagnosed that the motor mounts needed to be replaced. The current mileage was 75,400 and failure mileage was 36,000.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 08/23/2008

My 1 1/2 years old Volvo S40 did this twice, shortly after starting it and moving it for a couple of miles. It displayed the message "brake failure stop car safely", "anti-skid system failure", "reduced engine performance". The car could not go more than 15 mph. After parking it, I could not restart the engine and the messages kept repeating in random order. The first time that I took it to the dealer they said that they changed the computer message module (the mechanic carried a box with many plugs in it, just to show me what it looked like). But just after 500 miles, the problem re-appeared. Now the car is in the repair shop, and people do not know what to do with it for two weeks.
