general problems of the 2002 Volvo S60

Fuel leak fire hazard won't pass inspection. Gas smell. Car leaking while parked.

The contact owns a 2002 Volvo S60. While driving, the contact noticed an abnormal odor of fuel inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (valenti Volvo cars of watertown located at 105 commercial st watertown, CT 06795), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 171,000.

Posible taskata recall air bag light on/engine missing bad/tranmission shift fast and hard-sun roof don't works had tune-up done change turbo charger replaced/replaced trollder body-replace the radiator between and a/c evaporator that connect from turbo and troller body rough idleing whild starting and driving on the city streets. I would ask the power train and the speed control to include the electrical system be reviewed for service and any unknown or other.

"takata recall" I just got my 2002 Volvo S60 as a gift and was told the head gasket needed to be replaced. I am unable to do anything with the vehicle due to the problems that it consists of because of all the recalls on it please help me I need a reliable vehicle to take care of my kids and to get back and forth to work. I am smelling gas all the time my radio change channel on it,s own, air bag light is on the front right & left control arm tie rod end shaft cv shaft all is bad all @ the same time how could it be ????.

My Volvo S60 is becoming difficult to start and is beginning to smell like gasoline. I've been researching online and the problem appears to be the fuel filter. There has been a recall in other states like arizona and florida but apparently Volvo has not issued a recall for cars in California. It is an extremely dangerous situation to drive a car that is leaking fuel due to a manufactures defect regardless of what state you live in. From around oct. Of 2011 I have been experiencing trouble with my throttle body or as Volvo calls it 'electronic throttle module'. These problems include but are not limited to, stalling at freeway speeds, rough starting/ not starting at all, reduced engine performance not allowing for safe speed to be maintained, costly repair work with no improvement, and bouts of self accelerating at stops with parking brake and foot brake engaged. I have research a Volvo recall/ warranty extension for a defective throttle body, contacted Volvo customer service only to get the run-around. Various web forums encourage owner experiencing these problems to file complaint with NHTSA to help come to a resolution.

While pulling out of a parking spot 2 months ago, the engine of my 2002 Volvo S60 2. 4t w/37,500 miles, began sputtering, and when I got onto a major roadway, the car suddenly went into "limp" mode, whereby it went 5 miles per hour maximum. The sudden change in speed almost resulted in my car getting rear-ended. I took the car to the dealer, cherry hill Volvo in new jersey, and they diagnosed the problem as pertaining to the electronic throttle module (etm). The dealer said that the etm needed to be cleaned, and they proceeded to clean it. A week ago, I found out that NHTSA 06v-441 was issued, which addresses this exact problem. However, I was told by Volvo that my car, since it's a turbo, was not included in the NHTSA list, but it should be.

We brought the car in several times to complain that not only did the inside of the car always smell like fuel, but the driver and all her clothes smelled like fuel. We were told they could not find any problems with the car. I find it ironic that years after the fact, Volvo contacts us to tell us there is a fuel problem. We no longer own the car, nor would we ever buy another Volvo again, due to the lack of concern and help we received when owning this vehicle.
