I was driving down the freeway and the driverside door swung open while it was locked. This is after the door handle recall repair was performed. Prior to the recall repair, my door never came open like that while drving. This is dangerous because I could have fallen out, or a car could have hit my door! also, the windshield leaks on the inside and has been doing that for a long while. Volvo service said it does not leak. It does leak when raining or ice/snow melt. This is dangerous because windshield wipers do not work on the interior part of the window to wipe away water so the driver can see.

I was driving on my way back home. When my car started to knock. As I was slowing down to pull over. My oil pressure light came on. Granted, the reason was unknown. I had just recently checked the oil level. I got out to check the dipstick to find smoke coming out where the dipstick was. Curious as I was, I had no oil which left me puzzled. After some research, I found that my car had a recall on it for oil consumption. I called and asked a rep if they could verify if my vehicle was serviced for the issue. But without a doubt, he said it was. I just want to know if the problem was fixed. I currently can't crank my vehicle. I even dug into it myself and found that I had a bad starter nd battery. After replacing the two. I still can't get my vehicle to turn over. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. I turned the car on and got an error message that said the turn indicator system failed. After trying to clear the message from the dash using the button on the steering wheel, I discovered that nothing on the steering wheel was working, including the windshield wipers or any buttons on the steering wheel. I called the manufacturer and they told me not to drive it and they towed it to the dealer. The dealer said they had see this before as either a software issue or electrical issue and would need to replace the stalks and buttons.

When I first bought this Volvo there was condensation in both of the headlights then took it for a test drive and I really liked it and when I got back the dealer said if I was to buy it he would take care of both headlights so I assumed that he did but I bought it and left and was driving and then a code came on in the car saying low beam out I was like OH shit so took it back to them they had me go buy $120 light bulb and that wasn't the problem they did some working and testing and said that it was the low beam ballast so I bought 1 for the drivers side and that fixed that problem but then not even a week later the same light came on saying low beam out, took it back and they said that it was the same thing on opposite side on passenger side so they said order the part and we'll fix it I did that took it back to them and they said it was fixed not even a day later and the light was back on swing low beam out I'm thinking that there is an issue that has to deal with some kind of recall with these lights cause there is no way that they should break that easy or quick so please get back to me and let me kno thank you.
My car has water in the left back door, and I am certain it is from the recall of the locks. I use to park in my garage and the car is no longer garage kept and it has rained a lot. I can hear the water swishing around when I stop the car. I want to take the car back to the dealership that did the recall locks. Water is saturated in the back seating the driver's side.
As I approached a red light I began to slow down and my car started to shake and then it turned off I was unable to turn on my hazards to warn other drivers or pull over to the side, after a couple seconds the lights came back on and I put the car in p and started it again. It happened again later on the same day.
Car never warned of low pressure or oil low. Car started to shimmy and blow white smoke. It can no longer be driven. Piston heads blew due to lack of lubrication. Will cost approx 7 to 8 thousand to fix.
I recently had a recall on a Volvo for door latches. When looking at other recalls, I found that the oil pressure light on my vehicle, indicating low oil pressure, was a recall on a prior year, same make and model. I did further research and discovered that the car had a possible recall of the wrong date of manufacture. I was assured by Volvo that my vehicle was not affected; however, it is having the same issues, was the same make and model, says it was made in the same city, and I have had issues with the title along with getting an original date of sell for the vehicle. I bought it from a buy here, pay here place, and it had an yellow x on the inside of the drivers side door. I think it was affected by the prior recall and that I can not get all the needed recalls because the prior misprint of the year was never corrected before it was sold to the dealer.
Lack of warnings on low oil pressure. My car give no oil signal warning light on when car have zero oil in it. Phone 2404180464.
While driving on a sunny day I kept being blinded by chrome / mirror finish elements surrounding the steering wheel. It wasn't happening only for a moment, my eyes hurt after driving home from work. That is very distracting and affects driver's vision! to hide my eyes from the blinding light, I had to move the steering wheel to very uncomfortable position (what still didn't solve the problem) or pretty much cover flashing spots with my hands. That creates a hazardous conditions everytime when the sun is out. I am attaching a picture, but it doesn't show how harsh are these lights on human eye. That needs to be experienced. Maybe it wouldn't be that much of a problem if it was rare but it happens continuously when the sun is higher on the sky (around noon hours).

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Volvo S60. The contact stated a failure with the door latches did not occur with her vehicle. The contact did contact the manufacturer about the issue. The approximate mileage 48,000. Bh.
My car doesn't notify me that the engine oil is low. Last year, I drove all the way to mississippi without it warning that the oil was lo with barely any oil on the dip stick. We stopped to check it when we got gas and that is how we knew. It has been low several times this year without notifying me. I have to constantly check the oil to ensure there is enough in there. It does not have an oil leak as there is no oil on the concrete. I have checked with the Volvo dealership and was told there was no recall for my car in reference to low oil but there should be. I could have blown my engine.
Door latch and lock failure to both front doors. Passenger door latch/lock passenger door failed to lock or keep door closed while in motion. One week later the driver's door latch/lock failed in same way, which allowed doors to fly open during a turn while vehicle in gear and in motion. Electric door locks would not engage. Opening doors could be struck by passing vehicles endangering lives of occupants. Occupants could be thrown out of doors when turning. Unable to secure the vehicle when unoccupied. Both door latches are Ford products installed in a Volvo vehicle. Substandard safety device installed on vehicle's doors. Nearly endless list of safety hazards associated with this defect. Volvo is aware of the problem and failed to disclose the information to the public or owners of this make and model Volvo, causing the owner or operator to be unaware of the possible fatal safety hazard. Volvo was contacted by the certified mechanic upon replacing the part and was advised by Volvo they were aware of the door latch/lock defect.
Car is burning oil. I have to replace the oil every 2-3 months with no warning as to when it is coming. The "check oil pressure" light comes on, normally when the car is in motion (specifically, making a turn), when there is already barely any oil in the car leaving me very little time to get it to a shop to replace the oil. A couple of days later (if not that same day), the check engine light will also come on. I went directly to Volvo south shore for them to do an oil change on June 21, 2019 and my "oil pressure" light flashed on August 16,2019. By August 23, my "check engine" light came on so I took it to the nearest shop. They ran the diagnostics report and told me the light came on because there wasnt a drop of oil in the car. Anytime I take it into Volvo to get checked, they say they cannot do anything unless the "check engine" light is currently on but its not like I can bring it to them when it does because its not safe to drive to them/wait a few days for an appointment! by that time, I can feel the car giving out and its not like I can take it another 20 miles to see them! the fact that this issue has not been properly addressed is astounding. Its not safe and it should not be the individual's responsibility to replace an engine this soon!.
The car is burning oil. And like I have read in other complaints of the Volvo 2013 S60 oil has to be added too often. I just had regular service done about 5 weeks ago. On August 23, 2019 my "low oil pressure" light came on while the car was in motion making a turn. I thought to myself "I can't be low on oil". On Saturday August 24th before driving, I checked my oil and sure enough there was barely any oil on the dip stick. I called the Volvo dealership that I go to all the time and got an appointment for Tuesday August 27th. I told my service manager that this is the third time I had to bring the car in for the oil and that they have ran every test possible. This is ridiculous! I liked Volvo cars since high school and this is my second one. But enough is enough. There should be a recall for this problem!.
My S60 2015. 5 abruptly cut off when at a standstill "stationary" in traffic and on the highway traffic the warning system sound came on, as if close to an object, then the screen flashed on then off one time. Within minutes of a complete stop, the car cuts off completely. The screen displayed "turn on engine. " my car had to be placed in park before the engine would start. This had occurred at least three times in 2019. I was wondering if anyone had this experience. The issue was unable to be dupicated and no fault code.
Volvo dealers failed to fix a wheel noise issue in my car after six visits in the past three months. Axle, tire, shock, and wheel are all changed and it is still there. Without a real test on the remaining three tires on the road, now Volvo dealer starts to blame the remaining three tires which were claimed as "good" by their dealer technicians at the very beginning. Volvo refused to send corporate technicians to check the issue, and refused to do anything else for the case. The noise is very loud when the car is driven in 40-45 miles per hour. It is possible that there are other problems they haven't detect with the unusual noise in the car.

I got a flat tire. The car is equipped with a continental emergency tire inflator kit. I hooked it up as the instructions stated. It did not fill the tire and exploded covering my car, interior (door was open for the compressor to plug into cig lighter), and myself including in my face.
In 2023, the engine of my 2013 Volvo S60 failed completely without prior warning and the vehicle had to be scrapped. Before that, in 2022, I paid $1,500 for a full front-end suspension rebuild due to abnormal wear. These failures were later determined to be consistent with high mileage. I had purchased the vehicle in 2019 believing it had 85,125 miles, but a 2025 vininspect report based on nmvtis data revealed the true mileage at sale was over 137,000 — a rollback of more than 50,000 miles. The title is now branded “not actual mileage” by the federal database. This odometer fraud misled me into driving a severely worn vehicle that could have posed a serious safety risk, especially once the engine failed unexpectedly. No warning lights appeared prior to failure, and the engine is no longer available for inspection as the vehicle was sold for scrap. Independent mechanics noted the level of wear was not consistent with the mileage shown at the time of purchase. I have reported this case to NHTSA, the NY dmv, ftc, attorney general, bbb, and others.
Volvo failed to notify consumer of a manufacturer's defect with the Volvo spark plugs being unstable in its original housing, which resulted in recalled spark plugs. As a result the spark plug ends broke off and caused permanent damaged to the engine (cylinder #4 has little to no compression, misfire). The car smokes and extremely dangerous to drive; it is subject to catch on fire. The car was in motion when the engine light and oil light came on.
Loud sporadic noise coming from gas hole.
While driving car, a fire started under the hood near the headlight , flames were flying although car had no engine light and ran great. Pulled over and people had fire extinguisher and fire company came to make sure if was all out. Extensive damage done to car. I am told it should of blown a fuse instead of lighting on fire with my grandson and dogs in the car with no warning. Insurance said it is electrical with the car and will not cover.

Cpsc: on September 8, 2018 around 4:30pm on a Saturday, I was running errands and suddenly my curtain airbags on my 2012 Volvo deployed. There was a high pitch, loud screeching noise, a loud pop and all this debris sprayed all over me and the inside of my car and these white plastic airbags (curtains) busted through the roof of my car.
Sunroof glass exploded while driving on the freeway in hot weather. There was no sign of a rock or any other object hitting the vehicle. I have done my research and this is a known issue with Volvo.
Vehicle had a no start, no crank condition while parked. Was towed to dealership. Dealer determined no start, no crank condition was caused by outdated software. I do not think Volvo should design a car to not start if software is outdated. Had I needed to use the car to drive to hospital or some other emergency this would have been an issue.
Eco friendly soy based materials used for wiring attracts rodents and results in moderate to severe damage. Had my car "eaten" by squirrels twice in 3 months, the first time the damage was around $300, the second $2500! I have no guarantee that this wont happen again, in fact it likely will because the wire casing is still soy based!!!!.

Spontaneous explosion of overhead sunroof while driving. Car was purchased new in September 2017 and only has 10,000 miles of it. The sunroof had no scratch, dents, or chips - definitely no reason to suggest that it may literally explode outward over my head while driving down the interstate. At the time of the incident I was actually on the phone with my mom and the explosion was so loud that she thought I had wrecked my vehicle down an embankment.

Excessive oil consumption - burning or consuming at least 5 quarts of oil every 2k-3k miles, between oil changes. Our only notice is when oil is below 5-quart range, when we receive a dash warning noting to stop engine. Car holds 7. 25 quarts of synthetic oil. Well know documented throughout the web and known to Volvo mechanics, although more recognized with 2011-2012 S60. Stop engine notice received when starting car. Fortunately able to uber to auto supply and add 5quarts to drive home. Occurred on two occasions, wherein the second instance we researched, reached out to Volvo mechanics and in the process of contacting dealer and Volvo for follow-up. It appears that several instances have resulted in engine failure and/or $5k or more in personal cost to fix piston/value issue or replace engine.
Back door on driverside will not latch something electrical is going on I had to tie the door up just to drive anywhere.

Rear driver side door flew open while daughter was in the back seat. She fell out the car. Person was driving the vehicle and the door just flew open. Please get to the bottom of this immediately.
Sunroof exploded & shattered as I was driving for no apparent reason!!!!.
Left front tire is flat. Per Volvo technician found nail in edge of sidewall which is non repairable and need to be replaced. This is the fourth incident.
While driving down the freeway, the sunroof of the car spontaneously exploded raining broken glass into the car. There was nothing above the car at the time the sunroof exploded (I. E. An overpass where something could have fallen) nor were there other vehicles near by that could have kicked a rock or other object that could have broken the glass. Further, after pulling off the road to examine the damage, the glass had exploded outward, away from the car rather than inward, as would be expected if something like a rock had hit the glass and broken it.
