Door Latch problems of the 1998 Volvo S70

Nine problems related to door latch have been reported for the 1998 Volvo S70. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2004

Front passenger inside door handle would stick. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

2 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2004

1) problem with right rear passenger door lock, not unlocking. Must manually unlock from inside of car. 2) driver side door not closing. When attempting to close door it bounces back. The only way to close the door is to force it with body weight.

3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2003

While braking, the vehicle vibrated. Took vehicle to dealership and the mechanic indicated there was a crack in the brake master cylinder. The abs light illuminated, the oxygen sensor was replaced, the vacuum line was replaced, the upper torque arm bushing broke, the door locking system broke, the inside door panel came apart.

4 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2003

Right passenger door would not open fron inside, transitioned from working one day to being unable to open door from inside.

5 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 11/01/1998

Passenger side auto door lock.

6 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/01/1998

1st problem with car, door would not stay closed after several attempts to slam door would bounce off door frame. 2nd problem steering wheel would make grinding noise when making left turns only which would result in stiffness of left turn. 3rd problem , 1st winter that I had the car, the molding at the front windshield would be off of the window before any attempt to remove the snow, the dealer replaced molding. 2nd winter came along, front windshield molding off of the window. The dealer stated I will have to pay for replacement, and stated that it was because I hit molding with ice scraper, I explained molding was already off before ice & snow removal. Dealer/owner asked where is the molding I told him I do not know, it was brought to my attention that it was no longer there. Service manager stated that since I hit molding with ice scraper that air got under molding and when driving came off. But both times molding off window prior to any attempt of ice & snow removal. Therefore, I will have to pay $50. 00. Thank you.

7 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 05/29/1998

Driver's door lock pin failed, causing difficulty in unlocking and closing vehicle.

8 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 05/27/1998

Left front door latch assembly failed causing interior lights to malfunction when opening door.

9 Door Latch problem

Rear door lock broke. Nlm.
