1 Front Seat Belt Retractor problem of the 1999 Volvo S80

Failure Date: 02/22/2006

The front passenger seat belt in my 1999 Volvo S80 stopped working. The belt froze in the retracted position making it impossible to use. This resulted in the front passenger seat being unusable. My out of pocket cost to repair the problem was $433. 45.

2 Front Seat Belt Retractor problem of the 2000 Volvo S80

Failure Date: 12/26/2001

The right front seatbelt retractor locks unexpetdly. This can happen going over a bump, around a corner or on level road. When this happems it usually will not release requiring the seatbelt to be removed, allowed to retract and refastened in order to allow the normal slack and play associated with modern seat belt systems. Volvo has replaced the seatbelt once but this did not resolvr the problem. In a call today to Volvo customer service I was told that the dealer would have to adress this issue and the company could not. The dealer already tried but failed.
