I bought this car from elderly people. After I bought it and drove, there's lots of thing not according to safety standard? I asked them (seller) but they don't have any answer, due to their age. So, since last Tuesday, I am driving as it is. Hardly I put 250 miles so far. There's belt sign, air bag sign, and low tire air sign. All signs are showing in my dashboard and stays as long as car is on. So, I am scared to death to drive this car, car itself in a mint condition and it's got only 131k miles. Still there's is more life left on this car. I am also senior citizen and retired person. So, I need help to get these fixed ASAP please.

On Tuesday 11/19/2024 I went to my car and saw that a lot of fluid had leaked out of it. I went to start my car and when the car came on the gas tank was empty, but I had just filled the tank up the day before and parked it. On Monday the 11/18/2024 I had put gas in the tank. So on Tuesday when I had to go to the store I was pretty confused that the tank was low. This same thing had happened one time before but it never occurred that there was any kind of leak. But for an entire tank of gas to spill out is extremely concerning.

The air bag warning randomly popped up on my screen. They will not deploy if I get into a wreck. Non working air bag. I also have issues that come and go with the electrical component. Sometimes my door won't open, sometimes my seats won't move, and my license plate light is out due to something electrical. My gas tank spits gas back at me and makes weird noises sometimes.

In tank fuel pump, problem was leaking at top of pump @ the inlet at the outlet & return valve, crack in the plastic mold. Was giving off fumes, totally unhealthy and waitin for someone to lighr up a cigarette for a total car explosion and death for all occupants. I have replaced the pump myself. Local dealer wanted 1100 plus to replace out of my budget this in my view it should have been done by recall, local jim Volvo of portland, oregon said no, out of warenty period. I disagree, if unrepaired, I would have been risking me and my family or occupens in the vehical at the time. There are still many of these cars and other models & years that I found my research on the web that has had this same problrem. I have a 1998 Volvo s70 that appears to be developing the same issue. I had come to like my 2003 S80, it will be my last Volvo my cost so far about $150, and 1st pump I installed was defective, had to start over robert daniels sr 503-504-1508.

Within a week of purchasing the vehicle from a dealer, I discovered that the fuel tank has a leak, so its currently unsafe to drive. I found out about the leak when I brought it to an independent mechanic for service. I see that other vehicles of this model and year had been recalled for fuel leaks, so I wanted to report the issue.
After noticing a very acute smell of gas I took the vehicle in for inspection. The mechanic advise that I had a fuel leak in my 2004 Volvo s 80 . Thats could have been a serious problem and that the car is not driveable in this condition.

While pulling into a parking space from the driving lane of a parking lot, my Volvo had a surge of power that could not be controlled/stopped by applying the brakes. I was barely in motion with my foot on the brake when we (my mother, sister, and I) heard the engine roar and the car surged forward. I applied more pressure to the brake but the car would not stop and went over a wheel stop so I then started pumping the brake. The car finally stopped moving once it hit a pipe bollard but the engine would not turn off, my electrical went haywire and I could not get the car in park to remove the key. Upon impact the passenger seat belt did not hold my mother in place and the air bags didn't deploy. I am the original owner of this car which was in pristine condition but now wrecked. I have all the service records for this car and have had problems in the past with the following items; faulty cooling fan module, engine running hot, faulty battery cell, faulty scu module, faulty starter, faulty map sensor, faulty oil level sensor, faulty power steering rack, faulty fuel pressure sensor, failing lamp socket, faulty schraeder valves, faulty alternator and voltage regulator, and a faulty ac compressor.
While turning into a parking space from the lane of a parking lot, with my foot on the brake, my Volvo S80 accelerated so powerfully it could be heard yards away. I applied the brake harder but the car wouldn't stop and surged over a wheel stop, it was still surging so I started pumping the brake, the car finally crashed into a pipe bollard bringing it to a stop, the car wouldn't turn off, the electrical was going haywire and I could not get the car into park to remove the key. Upon impact the seat belt did not hold my mother into place and the airbags did not deploy. I am the original owner of this 2008 Volvo S80 awd with 58k miles on it in pristine condition. I have had problems in the past with the cooling fan module, engine running hot, the scu module, map sensor, a faulty fuel sensor, faulty schraeder valves, faulty alternator and voltage regulator, faulty ac compressor but never a power surge to this extreme.
The contact owns a 2010 Volvo S80. While the vehicle was being serviced, the independent mechanic noticed a fuel odor due to a leaking fuel line. The vehicle was repaired. The fuel lines were replaced and the failure was remedied. The local dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 119,000.

Strong odor of gas outside of car. Recall on similiar cars but not in this area. Known issue by Volvo but will not repair at no cost as it is outside of the 10 year extended warranty even though car does not have 150000 miles on. Fire hazard and should be for all cars of this year and make but offer little if any help.

Back in 2010 under the recall adv ,I took my car in to my Volvo dealer for the recall for fuel smell and they told me it was ok . The car then had around 90. 000 miles or so, now I take my car back with strong fuel smell in 2015 170. 000 miles and I reported to Volvo head quarters and they tell they will cover the pump only and not the labor to tune of 550. 00 because the car has over 150000 miles on it and is past the recall extended warrinty , but I thought under recall p29075 that Volvo is lia for free replacement of parts and labor the first time I took it in. Volvo told me it is about 4 hrs labor when there own recall calls for . 09 hrs labor. So it hasn't been fixed yet. I will fix it my self to the tune of a pump (bocsh pump 155. 00 )and my own labor. Thanks for nothing Volvo I guess if I would of burnt up in this car Volvo wouldn't be lia ? my att sure thinks they would of been. Never will buy a Volvo again.
Fuel smell from rear of the car, hard to start.
I was driving and my car lights and all the electronic stop working and turn off.

Fuel leak at top of pump under recall, inspection and repair at no cost refused by Volvo. My Volvo S80, 2005 was purchased as a used vehicle in san diego CA from the Volvo dealer about 2 years ago. The fuel leak location was diagnosed by independent shop and they confirmed the pump was under recall. The independent shop recommend taking the car to the local dealer for replacement at no charge under the NHTSA recall notice. When the car was taken to the local dealer no inspection was performed and I was told the recall notice did not apply to my VIN. I requested the defective part returned to me and only then Volvo district said they would provide the part (approx $500) but wanted me to pay for labor (approx $250). They also wanted the defective pump returned to them. I refused Volvo's offer, took pictures of the defective pump and confirmed it matched description in the NHTSA recall notice and the independent shop diagnoses. The pump fuel leak is under the rear seat where children in safety seats are exposed to intense fumes. Everybody in the cabin is exposed to high levels of fumes from residue fuel at all times from when the engine was last operated. The dealer failed to follow the recall notice procedure for inspection. The notice does not list a VIN range. If my VIN and/or pump model is not included in the original recall it should be! it appears Volvo is limiting the recall scope or denying legitimate claims for a serious safety recalled item. I have requested the dealer retain all parts, records and document the issue of the fuel leak on my vehicle. I plan on picking up the car no later than March 6 2013 repaired by Volvo at no cost or not.

The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.

I have a 2000 Volvo s 80 and it was sold to me by a dealer this car has so many problems and I feel that when I took the car to Volvo they tried to charge me 6400 just to fix the problem like abs sensors, stc sensor , throttle etc I feel its un fair I only had the car for 3days what can I do.
While stopping or turning at low speeds the cars idle speed will fluctuate from a complete stop up to 1100 rpms. Most of the time between 500 & 1100 rpms ! when the car stops running while I am trying to turn a corner , the power steering of coarse does not work and its hard to steer it. I did take it to a Volvo dealer, & they said it needed a new throttle sensor & computer software change, & it would cost me $2400. I can't find out if any of the recalls have ever been done #r155, r146, NHTSA I. D. #626114 & I. D. #10018801. The previous owner had the car for three years & did not receive and recalls notices. Most of the time the car runs fine, I have driven it over 40,000 miles now with the check eng. Light on & off. The check engine light will stay on for a day or too & go off for three or four days at a time. I would really like to know if any of the recalls have ever been done to this car.
Volvo 2000 s-80 2. 9 105,000 miles 1. Stalling, lack of acceleration, hesitation at highway speeds and around town 2. Complete shut down of engine at speed on route 95 during rush hour 3. Throttle module replaced at a cost $1200. 00 tasca Volvo stated I replace dozens of these. The manufacturer knows about the problem and does nothing.
Failure of etm in 1999 Volvo S80t6 cause near collision when the car stoped running without warning at 45 mph. Car had to be towed to Volvo dealer where repairs were made at a cost of $1439. 16.
While driving, I suddenly lost power/acceleration in my vehicle. My check engine light also came on. I turned the car off, but could not restart it. My vehicle was towed to my local Volvo dealership. Diagnosis - replace throttle body and download software (etm). Because my vehicle was past the original manufacturer's warranty, I had to pay for the reparis since the extended warranty did not specifically list these defects . . . $815 parts and labor. Approximately 1 year 3 months later, I began experiencing the same problems as in 2002 which Volvo diagnosed as a throttle body failure; however I have have been able to start my car, but with some trouble. Non-warranty repairs are covered for only 1 year. I called the warranty company to see if they could help me out. The warranty company knew of the defect from previous other complaints, and they told me to try to work out a deal with Volvo (which didn't happen). On September 11, 2002, I took my vehicle into Volvo because my engine fluctuated while idling. The interior lights flickered as the idle surged. Volvo diagnosed the problem as an ignition coil failure. Parts and labor cost me $250. I took the car in again on September 16, 2002 (5 days later) with the same problem. I requested a fuel filter check/replacement, but Volvo diagnosed the problem with the throttle body. The checked and cleaned the throttle body. This happened, of course, just 2 months before complete failure of the throttle body. I've spent over $1000 for mis-diagnosis and an defective part that Volvo and their warranty company have known about for several years.
