Takata recall" frist I called Volvo to inquire about recalls referening to the cooling system and the fuel pump the first lady I spoke with informed me this problem was under recalls and to take my car to get it serviced at the nearest dealer after taking my car to the dealer at 7:15am 4hours later after I called them first they now are saying that there isn't anything they can do with my car and they do not know who told me that false information. On top of all of this my car accelerates by itself lucky when it happens I hurry and push the brakes and the car dosent start up once turning the key even the guy say that's always been a problem. Based on how expensive this car is it seem there wouldn't be many problems with it or it seem that they would at least try todo something about the false information over all I will never buy another Volvo again!.

The car is putting forth a strong odor of gasoline. This was first noticed a couple of weeks ago but was put down to having just filled the tank. The problem has progressed to the point where you can smell gas 20 feet away from the car. We are not allowing our daughter to drive the car as it is an extreme fire hazard. I had the same issue with another S80 in 2015 which also wasn't covered in the recall since it was not sold in a "hot climate". With that car the fuel pump (with defective flange) was replaced and the problem went away. Although I am not convinced that heat is the problem (rather the defective flange) the temperatures in our area ranges from 15 in winter to low 100s in the summer. This is a problem which Volvo has acknowledged and it clearly makes driving the car dangerous if not deadly. Recall for this problem 09v483000 - Volvo recall #r220.

Vehicle has the smell of fuel. The 2001-2005 models have a recall for this same issue because of the plastic on the fuel pump flange cracking. Many owners of the 2000 models are reporting this issue. The fuel pump is the same used on the 2000 year model as the 2001-2005 so the 2000 should be part of the recall also. The smell of fuel is not just unpleasant but dangerous. I have a 11 month old son who rides in my car and it would be tragic if something happened to my family or someone else. You can search google and see many other owners reporting issues in the 2000 model Volvo S80. Please do something about this. Thank you!.

There was a recall regrding fuel smell/fuel pump and/or fuel seal problem in 2010. . My car is not regersted in the data base for the dealer to fix the fuel pump. How do I get a dealer vocher to take of this problem.
Within the past few days, I've gotten many complaints about the foul smell of gasoline lingering on my vehicle. Sure enough, I take it to a mechanic and the fuel pump is visibly moist on the exterior from an obvious fuel leakage. I researched "Volvo S80 fuel pump" and found a recall is in place. The recall starts from 2001 models and ranges up to 2005 models and is due to the material used in the fuel pump (recall campaign 09v-483). Since my vehicle is a 2000 model, my local Volvo dealership said "I do not meet the qualifications". My concern is if the material used in the assembly of the fuel pump changed from S80 2000 to 2001 models. I would like to be notified what material was used for S80 2000 models versus the material used for S80 2001 models and make sure that the material for S80 2000 models "may not develop cracks due to exposure to certain environmental conditions and varying fuel quality" as does the S80 2001 material. Thank you very much.
Component: fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump there is a strong smell of raw gasoline both inside and outside the vehicle. Gasoline is dripping from the fuel system directly below the position of the fuel pump. The vehicle is registered in sarasota, florida, a warm weather climate. All indications point to recall number r220. This recall begins with the 2001 Volvo s-80 and therefore does not include my 2000 model year. I contend that the recall should be expanded to include 2000 model year Volvos. This car been parked since mid may 2012 with 2 problems, cvvt & inlet hoses. I had the battery charged & the inlet hose fix, so it could go into the shop for inspection. Aug. 13 I put the plates on it & drove it for the 1st time at night to drop it off at the shop for inspection. Which I had spoken with 2 days earlier. . The morning of Aug 14, I call the shop and was informed my car had a fuel pump leak. I than call the Volvo corp. Cause it had issue a recall for the fuel pump. Just to be told it wasn't on my car & I'm responsible for the repair. . This car gave no warning or smell of gas about a defected fuel pump. This wasn't around the corner drive for me. It a blessing cause this could've been bad. . . As a woman I like to know, how it went bad just sitting there?. .
