Three problems related to front seat belt buckle assembly have been reported for the 1998 Volvo V70. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driver's side seat belt would release without indication.
Safety lock on rear seat belt broke while trying to install child safety seat. Taken to dealer who said too much force was used, however a trained child seat technician stated that consumer put the car seat in correctly.
Seat buckle lock mechanism design to use with child safety seat fractured resulting in failure.
