One problem related to hatchback/liftgate support device has been reported for the 1998 Volvo V70. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Hydraulics on the tailgate of my wagon seemed to fail (during extreme cold weather) causing the tailgate to fall on my nose resulting in almost slicing my nose off; plastic surgery and 21 stitches were required.
