I have recevievide from Volvo called the number and said they cannot say it was free. I called the number 1 800 458 1552 said could promise I had to talk to the manager at the dealer. I asked them if found other problems with steering that I would have to pay if they tear into steering comlun. You guys need to fix this now. I want to make sure im cover here . Ewhat am suppose to do if they break my steering down and ask me to pay for other problmems with the car it doesnot state that on the recall letter. What kind of airbag do they put in to the car I ant to its preminum airbags that are put in high in vehicles here. I want to know if I get protected documentation from this recall. Also do I get the old airbag back so I can seek legal consel as well. It just says free it should state that im protected from labor and parts costs as well.

All the recall problems is wrong with my car please help me.
The two bolts that attach the ball joint to the knuckle somehow worked loose and fell out, causing the front right wheel to fall off the car. Fortunately the separation happened at low speed, but if the car had been traveling at normal road or highway speeds the failure would have been catastrophic. None of the parts had any prior damage, all were original to the car, and the mechanics could not understand why the bolts worked loose. Volvo USA had no interest in investigating or understanding this failure, which is remarkable given its nature and potential for causing a major accident. Nor were they willing to pay for the repair or related damage. I recovered and have possession of the ball joint, knuckle and bolts, as well as photos detailing the failure and damage (including road skid marks from the dragging wheel), and receipts for the repair which totaled over $1,000 excluding body damage.

I was driving at about 35 mph. When I slowed down to make a 90 degree right turn, without warning the engine and power steering went off as I was turning. I had to manually steer the car and luckily did not crash because there was no car in the opposite lane. I pulled over to the side of the road, restarted the car, and received no error message. I took the car to the local Volvo dealer where they could find nothing wrong and deny this is a recall issue.
The contact owns a 2004 Volvo V70. While driving at 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated and came to a complete stop. The contact mentioned that the steering wheel was difficult to steer and the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The failure recurred six times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pressure sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v226000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
I own a 2001 xc 70 Volvo which I just bought with 133900 miles last Friday April 26, 2013. The dealer showed me the maintenance records including a 3 month old California safety inspection report. On April 27, 2013, I was driving on a downhill stretch when all of a sudden, the car engine lost power, kicked like it wanted to jump ahead of me, all indicator lights flashed, and the car stalled and shut down rendering the brake and steering system inoperable. I had no means to control the car as it rolled down hill. I engaged the reverse gear causing the vehicle to stop. I called dealer right away. He told me to bring the vehicle to his mechanic the following Monday on 04/29/2013. The mechanic inspected the vehicle and test-drove it and could not find any problems with the vehicle. He performed a diagnostic computer test and got an error message indicating an air intake problem. He asked me to bring the vehicle the following morning so he can test drive it more and find out more. While driving home, the problem recurred again, this time in the middle of a freeway. It was dangerous. . . Luckily I was in the far right lane, so immediately I coasted to the side, with my hazards lights on and pulled to the side where the vehicle stopped itself. Imagine driving 80mph on a California freeway, and all of a sudden, the vehicle loses power, the engines kick jumps, and without your input, attempts to engage a higher gear but then stalls and immediately shuts down and the brakes and the steering wheel jams. . That is not safety. As I await for the mechanic to address this issue, I am filing this complaint because this is a safety issue. A car that passes a safety inspection test should not be abruptly shutting down in the middle of traffic and render the brake system and steering wheel inoperable.

My 2001 Volvo xc V70 transmission is also slipping and lurching. Lately this has been occurring on a daily basis. I have had no accidents, but when it slips and hesitates while pulling onto a main road my heart skips a beat hoping I won't lose transmission power with no way to get out of another vehicles path. My mechanic, who works strictly on Volvo and saabs, has told me he cannot guarantee that repairs or adjustments would correct the problem and that changes could possibly make matters worse (I. E. , complete transmission failure). I will be trading this car in to a dealer in next week or two. From what I've seen on this forum, Volvo is not owning up to this problem. I have also had power steering issues since shortly after purchasing used. Lots of noise in front and at parking speeds, total loss of steering power.
The contact owns a 2009 Volvo V70. While driving, she noticed that the steering wheel was extremely warm. When she drove three hours away from her home, she noticed that the steering wheel was hot although she had the air conditioner on. The dealer stated that they notified the manufacturer, looked online, searched for a recall and could not find one. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and stated that the problem may have been caused by the light bulb located inside the steering wheel. No repairs were made. The current mileage was approximately 3,000. The failure mileage was 100.

Took car to dealer on March 18, 2009,after noticing a bumping when traveling down the highway. Dealer advised me steering was leaky and replaced line in the hose fp no. 30776291 (pipe set) this did not solve the problem. (invoice $368. 93) on may 13, 2009, returned car to dealer - the leak still there. Dealer replaced - shaft seal leaking on rack fp no. 36002364-2 and fp no. 30741950-7 (invoice $1425. 96).
Volvo, 2001 V70 - VIN yv1sw58d111019707 this specific vehicle is unreliable and unsafe. Since purchased new, car has had multiple system failures leading to various unsafe driving conditions including brake system failure and engine failure (including loss of braking and steering systems). Manufacturer has acknowledged unusual nature of this particular vehicle quality defects - concerned that car must be taken off road to avoid serious crash. Please advise.
1999 Volvo wagon vxc. Sudden loss of power . The car did not stall except at a stop sign when giving it a lot of gas to get it going. This happened intermittently for two months. Took vehicle to dealership, and they said it would cost $1753. 00 to fix it. The car is out of warranty. They would put in a new steering rod/ front end alignment/ vehicle speed sensor/ throttle body assembly/ an automatic transmission, and drain and refill the coolant.

Problems with vehicle pulling to the right while driving. The problem was so-called corrected, but the front end alignment problem returned. The vehicle had been to the dealer 4-5 times to correct the steering safety issue. On the last visit, the left front mcpherson strut spring was changed.
Vehicle steering design allows for drifting and hard steering also creating alignment problems on several occasions.

Our Volvo had the exact same ignition issues as have been called out in the recent gm ignition recall. Our car would mysteriously turn off while driving for no apparent reason. This happened many times, luckily with any accidents. We brought the car in to Volvo numerous times for service, but they could never find the cause of the problem, other than to suggest that perhaps our key ring was too heavy. We never resolved the issue. As I read about the gm issues it was exactly what we experienced with our car. Just thought somebody might want to know.
