Safety issue with tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). Sudden loss of air in tire at high speed. Pressure monitoring valve had disintegrated and fallen into tire, we learned, causing immediate flat tire. Corrosion, we were told. Car had less than 41,000 miles on it, and had been maintained at prescribed intervals, and we were not warned that this problem could occur. We narrowly avoided an accident in heavy traffic at highway speeds. This is a significant safety issue.
The contact owns a 2006 Volvo V70. The contact stated that one of the tires would frequently leak air. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that there was a hole in the wheel. The contact replaced the wheel and within a couple of months, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 44,700. The consumer subsequently reported that the hole in the wheel was caused by something that penetrated the tire.
When I bought my Volvo the 17 rims were already on the car. I feel I was not sufficiently educated about these wheels so that I could make n informed choice whether to keep them or not. I currently have the 6th and 7th bent rim on my car. I have all the receipts from the other five rim repairs in less than two years. Today I ordered new 16 rims costing $1,000 and it will cost another $1,000 to buy the new tires and have them installed. I have spent almost $1200. On rim repairs and replacing damaged tires. I want all that money back it is absurd to spend $40,000 on a car that keeps costing so much money. Dt.
