There is a class action lawsuit against Volvo for both these problems and I was affected by both this month. 1. Windshield for Volvo Xc60 is known for a failure of bonding along the top edge. When I brought it in the service guys were able to just push the windshield upwards and out with their bare hands to show me that there is a huge gap along the top edge. This happened to my car in the past 1 month and ended in a $420 repair that involved popping the whole thing off and resealing it. This is very dangerous because the water drips onto the steering wheel and electronics, which is distracting for the driver, but also obviously a huge threat to the car's electronic system. 2. In the same month, the car just failed completely, flashing all sorts of dashboard lights and demanding to be put into park when it was already in park. It said brakes and srs airbags were failing. The whole system went black and the fob was stuck in the console. The car had to be towed to the dealership, where they said the culprit was the rdar software, which is connected to the satellite radio. It causes a parasitic draw that keeps searches for a signal even when the car is off. They will charge everyone hundreds to update the software (not included in the free software update Volvo boasts about), and sometimes more to replace the battery, plus labor, or maybe quote thousands to try to disable the satellite radio completely, which is hard or impossible because it's integrated into the rest of the electronics. Luckily mine was parked when this happened, but I don't think this needs explanation for why it's dangerous if the car just randomly drains of battery while you're driving due to a faulty satellite radio system that Volvo + dealerships will do nothing about and charge customers hundreds or thousands even though the problem is very well documented. Disgusting and immoral.

The car has needed 4 battery changes and the last two were in July and October. On one occasion the car died and would not start at all. On October 3, like the multiple times before, the low battery sign came up. When the car was taken in the dealer finally found that there software glitch in their words that was keeping certain modules of the car on despite the car being turned off. We were told a software patch was applied and that would take care of the issue. Today, 11/6/2015, the low battery sign has come on again and the car has automatically decided to switch the radio off to conserve power twice already. This seems to happen every time we are trying to start the car. The first time this happened we were parked and had to get the vehicle towed. The second time the low battery sign came on and we were able to drive the car to the dealer where the battery was replaced. The 3rd time the battery died parked in a parking lot and the car had to be towed to the dealership. The 4th time the low batter sign came on again and I had to drive the car back to the dealership. This is the 5th time the low battery sign has come on and we are about to take the car to the dealership. The sign came on again when we were parked and about to start the car. Additionally, the blind spot assistance system has a camera that keeps malfunctioning. This happens randomly during drives where the camera malfunctions. The only way to get the error to go away is to restart the car.
