It was explained to me that since the back rear seat in the Volvo Xc60 seatbelt had a fault that it alerted the srs airbag system. In event of a crash the airbags in my car would not deploy and that the only remedy was to replace the entire seatbelt in the Volvo. To prove this point I took my car in to a Volvo dealership and the technicians offered the fix as the only way my cars airbags would work if I got it fixed.

The front passenger seat belt will not release without much difficultly. If the vehicle started on fire or went into water, the passenger would likely die. I contacted Volvo and they will not help other than charging over $800 to replace the seat belt.

Since buying our Xc60 Feb 2022, anytime we have our grandchildren we buckle their high back car seats in the rear seat of our Volvo. Every time we install the car seats, the seat belts will not lock after being buckled. The implications of a seat belt failing to lock a car seat down could he catastrophic. It doesn't matter how many times we expand the belt and release it, tap the brake, buckle or unbuckle the belts will not lock. This poses a life threatening danger to children who are supposed to be safely secured in their seats. Coincidentally, the driver belt randomly locks sometimes even choking me if I lean forward quickly to get a better view. This happens without any sudden braking or change of speed. I have not visited a service center regarding the issue yet, I plan to address the issue at the upcoming vehicle maintenance and service appointment. Parents or caregivers need to be aware of this possibly dangerous failure. I check the belt tightness for our grandchildren car seats every time we stop. Until there is a resolution in place, I will attempt to find something that will keep the belt locked for a temporary solution. Please investigate for more possible complaints and issue a warning regarding this issue.

Seat belt loose and doesn’t tighten with sudden stops.
This SUV. 2011 Volvo Xc60 is our family travel vehicle. I had a bad scenario, the drivers side seat belt buckle got stuck. Would not release, my girlfriend was in car trying to release buckle. This is not normal. Its scary felling she told me. In a mva. This may be a risk of stuck in car. The dealer had replaced shoulder harness under recall. But my complaint was the seat belt buckle get stuck wont release. It seems to sit too close to seat I don't know why it was not replaced as an assembly. Does any record show seat belt buckle stuck issues and wont release. ? other than the seat belt gets stuck wont release. My issue I think the buckle should be at a higher above lower seat to accommodate average size people.
I received a safety recall notice in August 2020 (for a recall issued in June 2020) and I contacted my Volvo dealer (don beyer dulles, va), who said that the parts were not available. I received a second safety recall notice in December and I contacted my Volvo dealer, who said that the parts were unavailable and were still not available as of January 28. The second recall notice said to call Volvo customer care center if the recall is not corrected within a reasonable period of time. I contacted the Volvo ccc and they told me to try another retailer. That's it - no other assistance. Seven months after the recall and still no timetable for repair.

Seat belt recall issued June 30, 2020 (info below). Called the Volvo dealer (autonation in bellevue, wa) and they reported that no parts will be available until November 2020 and that I should call back then. This appears to be an unreasonable amount of time to replace such a critical piece of safety eqipment. Manufacturer recall number: r10029 NHTSA recall number: 204378.
A letter was sent from Volvo corp about a safety recall on seatbelts in August 2020 stating that parts would be available after Nov 2020. I called the local dealer last week and apparently they do not have the parts to make the necessary repairs. I am very concerned for my safety while driving this vehicle. Currently, the drivers side seat belt is difficult to open with one click. It requires a few pushes to unlock the seat belt and this is our main concern. I called Volvo corp this morning and they are unaware of any timeline of when the parts will be available. They have also made an error in stating the phone number for NHTSA in their letter to the public. The letter states 800-327-4236, which is incorrect.
The contact owns a 2016 Volvo Xc60. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v378000 (seat belts) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called to gorges Volvo cars (17665 burt st, omaha, ne 68118; (402) 359-1500) where it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I have received two recall notices for defective driver and front passenger seat belt fasteners (NHTSA recall 20v-378). The notices are dated 29 Aug 2020 and 9 Dec 2020. I have called the local Volvo dealer repeatedly to schedule for completion of this recall. Each time they say they do not have the parts and apologize. In the meanwhile, the risk of the seat belt failing persists. More than six months have passed since the initial notice which I consider to be an excessive period of time. What can be done to expedite the completion of this recall? any advice you can provide, or actions you could take would be appreciated. Thank you for consideration of this request. I have owned this vehicle since July of 2020, and can't get the service for the safety recall performed. The recall is for the front seat belts. I have contacted the dealership and Volvo but haven't received a response.
Drivers seatbelt randomly comes undone when driving - unrelated to speed or braking. . Has been occurring for last 15-18 months about 1-2 weekly.
Malfunctioning seat belt latches and buckles- the seat belt latches do not release the buckle very good when needing to exit the vehicle (they stick in place until the latch is held at a specific angle while pressing the release button) I dont believe this is an intended safety feature. This issue is present in all 5 seat positions latches and buckles in my car. After special attention to unbuckle myself, I often have to walk around to the back doors to get in the back seat so I can unlatch my sons buckle also. He is 6yrs old and has not ever had any problem unbuckling himself in our last SUV nor in our other current car. He has lots of anxiety over this, he panicks and then will cry because he feels he is trapped in. Also, the buckles do not always lock into the latch when putting the safety belt on when entering the vehicle. Often times while in route, the system warning light comes on to notify me that a buckle is not on in a seat position because although the buckle sounded and felt like it was latched, it was not. Bupon checking the seat position the system warns, the belt flys right up and out of the latch, indicating it was not secure afterall. This issue also present in all 5 seat positions latch and buckles. The issues are intermittent but occurs more than likely more often than we think because we have gotten used to the defective functioning and have adapted to during normal use of the vehicle. I am confident that my family's risk of harm during a true emergency is greater because of these buckles and latches and their malfunctioning.

The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred, and the contact was concerned for her safety. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Volvo Xc60. The contact stated that the driver's seat belt was restraining the driver extremely tightly. The contact stated that it was difficult to adjust the seat belt and the seat belt buckle was difficult to lock and unlock. Volvo cars glen cove (79 cedar swamp rd, glen cove, NY 11542, (516) 231-2400) was contacted and indicated that there was no failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The seatbelt warning only sounds for a few seconds then goes silent and never sounds again. This occurs at engine start, and also if I unbuckle the belt while moving. This happens to the driver and passenger belts. I took the car to the dealership where I purchased it, they had it overnight and the next day told me that this is the way is was designed. I called Volvo USA customer support and was told to take it to a dealer, and then began telling me that his Volvo ( unknown model or year) did not do this. The car has 1,300 miles.

The seat belt warning light does not stay on for 60 seconds when the seat belt is not fastened. The dealer said that this is normal for the car.
