1 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2004 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 01/31/2012

We are owners of a 2004 Volvo Xc90 t6 awd and have experienced a transmission failure that will cost $6500 to replace. Upon further investigation, we have found that there are literally thousands of complaints regarding these transmissions failing yet Volvo has failed to step up and address the problem. In our case, my wife was driving the car, in traffic, when the car slipped out of gear and started slowing down! luckily she was able to get off on the shoulder before trailing traffic caught up to her, but imagine what may have happened if she wasn't able to get out of the way! Volvo knows this is a problem and should do something so that 1) no serious injuries come from this failure, and 2) to compensate the Volvo owners out there that have had to shell out thousands of dollars in repair costs for this problem. Please investigate this issue!!.

2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2003 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 05/22/2009

The transmission (without warning) in my 2003 Volvo Xc90 t6 went out (no reverse & wont shift out of 3rd gear). It is an automatic. There are many owners of this vehicle who have experienced the same problem it has been independently diagnosed as a defect with the particular transmission that Volvo choose to put in this model vehicle. Most owners have been told by dealers there is nothing that can be done for them (most problems occur between 40 - 60,000 miles & are out of warranty) except sell them a new or rebuilt transmission (approx. $5,000). My vehicle has 75k miles & I have my vehicle at a repair shop waiting to see what my options are. I have been told by two mechanics that the transmission needs to be replaced.

3 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2003 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 10/12/2008

My vehicle has 61,400 miles and the transmission needs to be replaced. Out of the blue it started slipping out of gear causing extremely high revving and the a transmission failure light came on. Vehicle is well taken care of and there were no warning signs of this defect. Dealer says a new transmission is needed.
