general problems of the 2004 Acura MDX

Similar to a complaint from virginia in 2012 I had an issue with stuttering and a lack of acceleration and one day I stopped at a stop sign and my car shut off and when I turned it back on would not move from park and has not moved since I had it towed to my house.

The contact owns a 2004 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that when the vehicle was parked at the drive way, the vehicle suddenly began to reverse independently. The contact stopped the vehicle by putting rocks behind the tires. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-999-1009 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact to call the dealer. The manufacturer stated that the contact would have to pay for the vehicle to be towed to the dealer and also a diagnostic fee. A case number 06320658 was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

This car has 131,000 miles on it and the transmission went out. After reading 37 pages from other owners on edmonds they complained about the same thing. This transmission should not have gone bad. There should be a class action lawsuit because so many other people have had the same problem from the 2003 on. I expect some recourse on paying for this transmission. The cost is almost $5000.

Hi I'm seeking guidance my mom purchased a used 2004 Mdx and she she only drives it to and from work about a five min drive and one morning after she arrived to work ten min later her car caught in flames fire fighter investigators stated it was an electrical issue what can I do. About this VIN # 2hnyd18714h508309 2004 Acura Mdx incident date of April 1,2016 around 630 am in the parking lot of lompoc hospital CA 93435 we received recall notice three weeks later saturaday April 23,2016.

Had shift lock recall installed couple years ago. Was a little stiff shifting afterwards. It has steadily got worse. Does not shift through all gears and very hard putting in gear. Wife passed away shortly afterward and did not go back to dealership. I returned for air bag recall and mentioned the shift problem but dealership gave it no attention at that time. I must return for an adjustment on the shift mechanism as im sure thats all it is. Thank you, ron james.

Driving 30 to 45 miles I am getting a grown in my gas pedal and when I go pass 65 to 70 miles I get vibration. In my steering wheel. I had my wheels road force balance I had wheel alignment done I had suspension struts and shocks change. I am still having the same promblem with the transmission.

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred after approximately 50 miles. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. There is a grinding noise when the car is driven between 35 and 45 mph. It has trouble accelerating.

It felt like my transmission halted. My rpms went erratic, my drive was tugging, my transmission feels rough now and makes me nervous to drive.

I was moving out of a parking space and bam!. . . The drop of tranny fluid and radiator fluid on the spot. When I took it to a mechanic, they told me this was the 4th Honda car they have had with same problem, they found out in all cases it was the pressurized hose connecting these two important parts had corroded to the point of failure. I have been hearing more about this and it is now disturbing to me. In my case my tranny is fine and all I needed was a new radiator and all new fluids. The car was not able to move and that may have saved the tranny. Got it towed and fixed the next day by trusted shop even though it was almost 800 dollars.

I was pulling into drive way when I shut off truck took keys out, shut door, as garage door was opening. Car started rolling back. . . I opened door tried to press on emerg. Brake with hand as im running with vehicle as it is rolling back, wouldn't stop. I realized the gear wasn't in park, it was in reverse, but with no keys I tried to put gear into park, wouldn't move without keys, I hopped in, put keys in ignition and turned car on, as I was putting the gear in park, the vehicle reared forward and I pressed on breaks but it wouldn't stop. The car was moving forward as I was pressing on the breaks, needless to say, it did not stop until I ran into the garage door as it was coming back down, and both myself were half way into my son's garage door, wall, and shelving, items, all damaged by my rolling backward Acura. . . . . . Because the car was in a fast speed, I tried to avoid going straight into the garage, to avoid going into the bedroom, so I swerved inward toward the wall. . . The garage door would not lift up off the truck, so I asked my grandson to push on the switch on wall while I lift on the garage door, as we worked together with no keys in ignition, motor off, on the count of 5,4,3,2,1. . . . . I lift, he pushes, and guess what. . . . . . There goes m car. . . . . Starts rolling back. . . Right into my son's [parked. . . Vehicle. . . . Damage. . . 3 claims in one day. . . . . 3 deductibles in one day. . . . . . When I called insur. . . I was asked if vehicle was drivable?. . . When I started it. It made a loud roaring sound and would not go into reverse. . . . . . . Then I found out a recall was out on my vehicle. . . . And I hate to think that all the times I drove in the vehicle with my grandson. . . . . I just had 2 back surgeries and 2 knee replacements,. . . As I was running with my vehicle , I injured my back and knee and I cannot work for a while. . All thanks to Acura. . .

I pulled up my driveway which has uphill grade then a flat area and was in my garage when I noticed that I had the keys in my hand. I turned around and noticed my car was drifting back down the driveway. I tried to jump back in the car to hit the brakes but thought better of it as it was gaining more speed. I let go f the front door and watched as it veered off the driveway and hit a tree and landscaping rock and end of driveway. What it . So I was able to take the key out of the ignition while the car while still in the drive position. I did not receive a recall notice until February . Acura has not been judicious in their effort to fix the damage that occurred to my vehicle due to a defective part.

I was told my radiator bladder exploded causing all fluids to mix, thus I now need a new radiator and a new transmission, cost of repair is $4600. My 04 Mdx has 137k this should not happen, there are numerous cases of this same issue all over the internet Acura forums, why has there not been a recall on this issue, there is clearly an issue with the radiators. I need to have the radiator replaced, all fluids drained and then flushed 5-8 times to ensure all the contamination is gone, then new fluids put back in along with a replacement transmission. There has to be numerous complaints about this, please help!.

When driving at speeds about 30-45 mph. The car spudders, rumbles when I accelerate. I need to take my foot off the accelerater to make to stop. It happen all the time.

There is a shuddering noise / vibration coming from the engine compartment at speeds between 25-45 mph.

Another 2004 Mdx transmission issue. Jutter occuring between the speeds of 25-45 mph. Dealer claims this is not under warranty any longer(100,000 miles on car) and there have been very few complaints on this problem. After taking the issue of needing a new transmission to corporate,I was told they would cover only a portion of the cost. My portion would be 2500. 00. This is absurd. Acura knows full well that a problem exists and should stand by their vehicles. They have certainly lost me as a three time buyer of their vehicles.

I went to drug a store and was in a hurry when I parked the vehicle. I left the car in "drive" as I was in a hurry and didn't notice. I was able to turn off the ignition and remove the key, which didn't register to me as a problem at the time. When I came out of the store, I found the vehicle had rolled backwards and struck another parked vehicle, causing approximately $2200 in damage to the other vehicle. Minimal to no damage to my vehicle. When I got home I was able to duplicate this situation.
