On June 30th 2019 after leaving from work I was on my way to pier 1 which is approximately 2 miles away. I turned into the parking lot parked in front of pier 1 and all of a sudden my car accelerated out of control. It jumped the curb crashed through pier 1 window into the store and didn't stop until it hit a wall. At this time I'm in shock glass is every where and I could move I hear people in the background telling me to get out of the car but I was frozen from what just happened. I just want to hold Acura accountable because I see this has happened to several people.

Flames and fire shot out from the front passenger side vents and under the dashboard and glove compartment, engulfing the vehicle into flames resulting in a total loss. The vehicle was in motion on a neighborhood street.

On the afternoon of may 11, 2011 I pushed the button to close my car trunk hatch and my 13 y/o daughter ran into a sharp edge of the hatch cutting her front right eye lash. There is a manufacturer-built sharp edge that caused the cut. Should the edge hadn't been in that location, she wouldn't have cut her eye lid. We immediately took my daughter to the hospital emergency room to stop the bleeding and reseal her eye lid.

On 3/9, I was parking my 2006 Mdx in an indoor parking garage. About 15 feet from a wall, it took off real fast. I pressed harder on the brakes, but it slammed into the wall so hard. The air bag deployed, smoke came out & the alarm went off until a passerby disconnected the battery. I couldn't stand up for a few minutes. My insurance CO. Decided it was totalled & had it towed to our house instead of a body shop, then only gave me its book value. I still have many bruises all over my body and my nose bled for a while and was swollen for a week. The seat belt cut into my neck and its impact left severe bruises on my chest. The impact made both my replaced knees bruise and hurt. I had lower back for many days. Pohanka Acura dealership told me this is an Acura company issue. Google didn't show any recalls on Acura Mdx accelerators. But, many people have had the same problem I had with their Mdx. While braking, the car goes faster instead. On 3/11, and after many left messages to Acura, Acura finally called. I requested that someone will check the accelerator, b4 it was towed away. He said I needed to fix the car and bring it back to its original new state. After that, Acura will then look at it and determine if the accelerator had issues. I'm very relieved I didn't die. I'm still not sure if I might develop any permanent physical problems from this accident. The shock, trauma and injuries were unnecessary. I'm also very glad I didn't kill anyone. I would never have been able to live with myself. I wasn't prepared to buy another car now. I was planning on keeping it for at least 2 more years. Besides losing my car, I was exposed to extreme danger, stress, fear and physical harm, because of the the negligence on Acura's part. I hope this matter will be taken seriously and Acura will stand behind its reputable name and fix the problem.

The headlights fog over to the point of significantly diminishing effectiveness. The problem has been reported to the Acura dealer who only offers to charge excessive amounts for a non-guaranteed solution and claims this is not something they see in this car. However, it is clear from regular daily driving that significant numbers of these cars suffer from this problem. The headlights have been cleaned as recommended in the instructions without success. This is an ongoing problem from 2013 to current 2019.

Front passenger misalignment allowing rain water to seep inside the vehicle. This was a new vehicle purchase. It was only discoverable when a front seat passenger was riding in the new vehicle while it was raining. The leak was ongoing for an unspecified time, from the time the vehicle left the manufacturer, Honda until the time the dealership took delivery of the vehicle, radley Acura, falls church, va. Honda north America has admitted that it was a factory defect and do not not want to do a buy back. Honda claims the repairs form leaks entering a vehicle for an unspecified period correct moisture entering a vehicle for an unspecified period. Honda does not provide an explanation on how the moisture will impact the electronics in the vehicle or correct mold growth. Honda nor the dealer have been cooperative or responsive to the concerns of the buyer. When the new vehicle was delivered, it had approximately 20 miles on it. The purchase price of the vehicle was $42,000. Buyers made a down payment of $24,000. Radley Acura is in possession of the vehicle. Honda & radley have not been responsive and feel that the purchasers do not have an alternative but to accept a defective new vehicle that leaks when it rains. Radley claims they have corrected the misaligned passenger door. Purchasers have no confidence in the vehicle because of safety concerns. How has the moister affected the electrical system? Honda has admitted that it was a manufacturers defect that cause this problem. There is no dispute that water and moisture entered into the vehicle for an unspecified time. Buyers expected to purchase a new vehicle where water moisture & rain water had not been entering a new vehicle for an undeterminable time.

Automatic safety door relock faulty. The remote was used to unlock the doors. The rear door was opened and the baby was placed in the car seat. The diaper bag was then placed on the floor of the back seat. Doors automatically re-locked after 30 seconds with baby and car keys stuck inside. 911 was called to rescue the baby and bust open the door. This should absolutely never happen. After changing the settings to 90 seconds, the car still locks at 30. Acura denies hearing this happen. Acura says there is no way to disable this "feature".

Vehicle had numerous problems throughout the first two years of ownership, which the dealership was visited for repeatedly. These problems occurred when the weather was very cold, usually below zero (f), and involved multiple disfunctional sensors all displaying inoperative. When these sensors displayed errors, that component of the car would not function correctly. (one time there was an issue with the collision mitigating system, and the brakes automatically engaged on an icy road at full speed--another there was a problem with the awd which turned the vehicle into a front wheel drive operation). Dealership discovered after multiple visits, and when we told them we were going to try to pursue a lemon law protection on the vehicle, that it was a power control module that was bad. This was replaced. Vehicle ran mostly error free for some time after. On the morning of 2/15/2018, the vehicle was started in order to warm up. While parked with the engine running, vehicle caught on fire somewhere behind the dash on the passenger side. We put the fire out using a fire extinguisher. Thankfully, I was not driving the vehicle as I would have been 5 minutes later, as I had no fire extinguisher in the car; and also thankfully there was not going to be a passenger if I had been driving, as the flash was immediate and intense on the passenger side. Further, it did not catch our house or shop on fire when it went, as it could have. Vehicle was a total loss. Documentation of numerous problems (receipts of visits to dealership) and photos of damage to car after fire are available upon request.
There are two parts to this complaint. The issue regarding the transmission is potentially a safety issue and could result in an accident, while the peeling paint problem is already addressed in the Acura service bulletin 19-029 for vins other than mine. Both are well documented problems that have been experienced by other 2016 Acura Mdx owners. The transmission issue is an intermittent problem while accelerating and decelerating. There is a abrupt hesitation, or surging. While coating down a steep hil, the transmission will stay in gear at very high revs instead of shifting. These are an annoyance, but the acceleration problem could cause someone to hit the car from behind in heavy traffic situations. Some individuals note on the internet that their engines would accually stall when accelerating. I have brought my vehicle into the Acura dealership on a number of occasions without the problem being resolved. The paint issue involves the white diamond pearl paint coming off the roof and is already addressed in Acura service bulleting 19-029. It is unthinkable that only some vins are covered while others are not, if the same exact problem seems to exist on non-listed vins. Honda motor company indicated that they would not add additional vins unless directed to by NHTSA. Please have Honda extend the warranty on all 2016 Acura Mdx models with the same problem.

It was 46 outside when I was driving down I-10. My sunroof exploded with no apparent cause. Only car on interstate at the time. Not passing under overpass or following behind any vehicle that could've thrown rocks. The break in the sunroof was in an upward fashion, as if it broke from the inside out (as if related to increased pressure). The piece of glass that was broken was a large sheet, still intact. It seems if an outside obstacle (such as a rock or debris) would've caused the sunroof to shatter, the glass would've been in many more pieces/shards. I took it to my dealer who said it must have been a rock and they wanted me to file an insurance claim. After I refused, they offered me a good will warranty to cover the cost but never did admit that this issue was more than likely related to a manufacturer defect.
I was driving on the highway 45 from dallas to houston on may 25, 2017, going approx. 65 mph. All of a sudden I heard a very loud pop sound from the sunroof. I almost lost control of my vehicle but managed to pull over on the shoulder of the highway to find out what had happened. I saw that the sunroof glass was completed shattered and bubbled outwards instead of inwards. There was no vehicles within at least 200 yards ahead of or besides my car. There was no falling objects that I could find inside the vehicle. I believed that the sunroof shattered by itself. I had been on the highway for over three hours before this occurred.

Dear sir/madam - I was heading to my office from home on the highway CA-84. While driving today on the highway at around 50mph I hear sudden loud pop up sound from the roof, I felt like an earthquake and vehicle starting to shake. As I slowed down I felt something wrong with sunroof. Since highway leads to the bridge and has no exit I continued to drive. Highway becomes internal road after 5 miles. As I got an opportunity I parked the vehicle and get above to check what really happened. I was amazed to see sunroof glass is broken, but most importantly the entire casing is caving in. This is very serious safety issue. Since this vehicle is prime for my kids commute I'm not sure how safe this vehicle is.
Un intended non acceleration. Due to severe lag, delay, and sluggish transmission response. Acura has replaced my transmission under warranty at 11,000 miles and did not admit fault and say there was a problem. Here's more on my experience. . In my 1 year of ownership. . To whom it may concern: 2016 Acura Mdx 13,000 miles , purchase new from sierra Acura , alhambra, CA I am writing to request buy back of my vehicle this car is a lemon. Since taking ownership a year ago, my 2016 Mdx purchased new has experienced nothing but one problem after problem. Acura replaced transmission a month ago but the problem is still there. Is it engineered and designed to perform in a not safe manner ? many times I experience shifting and accelerating hesitation and jerky/jolting. My family and I do not feel safe operating and riding in this vehicle. Several times gas pedal depressed and vehicle lagged at 20 mph for more than 10 seconds before accelerating. A few of the latest new and ongoing problems are below. Driver door now appears off set and at different angle protruding out now. Appears that the door is not closing properly and therefore not sealed at closing. Furthermore every single window has experienced faulty mechanisms with motors, actuators, and seals. When closing the doors it feels like the windows are loose. There are also squeaks and rattles eminating throughout the cabin area. I secured and collected all loose items and the sound is still there. At engine start up each time, there is a high pitch whining noise for a few seconds before engine starts (perhaps something else faulty?) I have video / sound documentation of this with 2 seperate recording dates . With regard to the navigation, multimedia unit, it has been lagging, slow (er) to function, and severe delay in backup camera actuating, and audio functions delay in response sometimes.
The sunroof spontaneously exploded causing shattered glass to fall on the driver while driving down the highway. It sounded like a gun went off. There was not any debris or rock that could have caused the shattered glass. The glass was lifted upward, not downward as would have been the case if something came from the sky or air. The temperature was 55 degrees fahrenheit and the time was approximately 3:40. I had used the sunroof earlier in the morning without a problem and never had a problem before.
The vehicle was purchased at mullers woodfield Acura, 1099 w. Higgins rd. , hoffman estates, IL 60169, tel. 847-519-9550 on 05/04/2016. I came home with the vehicle when it was dark. In the morning, I inspected the car and noticed paint issues where the bumper meets the painted metal and some areas around the sunroof and side edgesvof the roof. The dealer would not exchange for different vehicles; they offered to paint the areas, which they did through their insurance. Sometime later, around 2019, I noticed a small patch of paint missing on the roof. I took the vehicle to the dealer, where I found a service bulletin regarding this issue. The service bulletin dated 08/29/2019 was for the same problem I was experiencing. My dealer advised me that my VIN does not match the service bulletin. They quoted me $2,400 to repaint the car after they filed with Acura care, which denied accountability. I went back and forth between the dealer and Honda care but was nowhere. Nobody is taking responsibility for this manufacturer defect. I contacted them again today and was denied. I could not file a complaint with the person I spoke with, who stated she was the manager. This vehicle had paint issues from the start, and I reported it to the dealer and Honda care and gave the service bulletin the vehicle year, paint color, and the claim the dealer filed with Honda care. Pictures were taken, and the claim was denied because my VIN number is not listed with the service bulletin that came out. I am filing a complaint for a manufacturer defect that occurred with my vehicle from day 1, and neither the dealer nor Honda care wants to take responsibility. I am asking for a review of how the manufacturer can get away with this without any responsibility, especially since a service bulletin was issued. Please note that I am now divorced, and the vehicle is in my maiden name, magdalena sadowska. My address is 645 s. Mckinley Ave. , unit, arlington heights, IL 60005 te. 847-514-1837.
Electrical short.
My Acura Mdx 2004 has had the window regulators replaced three times and now both windows are broken again. When the window slams down into the door frame it makes a terrifying noise which has caused me to nearly wreck twice. The worst incident was when a regulator failed and I caught a piece of plastic road debris in the face (couldn't close the window) going approx 70mph on the freeway. I have a scar on my forehead and was covered in blood. I thought that I had bad luck for a while, but have researched it, and this is not just me. Thousands of Honda and Acura drivers have the same problem. Most have replaced regulators many times in the same vehicle. Please please do something to make Acura/Honda provide a free and reliable solution to this massive problem. I can't pay another bill for this and am using cardboard and a garbage bag over the windows now.

I own a 2015 Acura Mdx that is three months old and it has 4000 miles on it. I was driving this car early in the morning when I pressed the button to open the moonroof, it violently exploded causing glass to shower upon me. I have suffered cuts on my hand and on my head as a result of this. I have contacted two different houston Acura dealers only to find out that they are not willing to fix the repair as Acura will not approve the repair cost. One dealer even admitted that Acura is aware of the issue. I wish that Acura would stand behind their product and resolve the issue promptly. It could have resulted in a serious accident or would have injured my children as well if they were present in the car.
The rear lift gate will open using the automatic door opener, but once open it will not stay open. In my case, I opened the rear door, but when I went to get something from the back of the vehicle, the door came down on my head. Not only is this disappointing to have this issue in a car with less than 40,000 miles, but it is also very dangerous.
I got into a parking space, and pushed the brake but the car jumped on to the sidewalk. I removed my foot from the brake and then the car started speeding up. The car crushed through the window of an empty store. I tried to push the brake even harder but it did not work. The car finally stopped when it hit the wall inside the store. I was in a shock. Luckily nobody was injured. I found several similar complaints on the internet but could not find a recall for a similar issue. One of the previous claims states: "Acura is claiming that no problem can be found with our vehicle. " this is an extremely serious safety concern and could result in fatalities. Is there anything else I need to do in order this issue to be investigated seriously?.
Vehicle was backed into garage parking space as usual by wife. Key removed, vehicle was thought to be in park. Parking brake not applied. Garage door was left open. 30 minutes later, vehicle was not in garage and was straight across the cul-DE-sac at neighbors driveway 6' away from their car. Upon further inspection, minor damage and paint scrapes were observed at back of neighbors bumper and right front of the Mdx. Plastic clip was observed on ground that attached plastic bumper to body of Mdx. Shifter was found to be in reverse on Mdx. Testing after the fact showed that the key can be removed while not in park. I noticed a recall starting with 2003 Mdx of the key being removable while not in park. We have owned this vehicle since new and have been at same address.

Partially closed drivers door on seat belt. Opened door removed seat belt. Then after driving home I was unable to open the drivers door with or without the automatic door locks nor from the inside or outside or with a key. Had to climb out of the car over the center console or out the window. This seems like something that should not happen and a safety concern if needing to exit the car swiftly.
The contact owns a 2008 Acura Mdx. While driving at 60 mph, the contact noticed that the hood was vibrating. In addition, the vehicle lost power. The accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. The vehicle stability assist, tcs, abs and vtm may not operate was displayed across the message board. The vehicle was taken to multiple independent mechanics, who diagnosed that the hood needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.

Driver side passenger door is not locking properly, we have to use the force like a heavy truck door. It's not safe when kids are sitting inside. Complained to Acura and they say it's not a bug, that's how that door will work. 10 year daughter can not close the door on her own. Every time driver has to use more force to close the door.
I purchased this car used in October 2014. Ever since I had the car I notice that the hood starts vibrating as if it is going to open. I have pulled off to the side of the road several times to check that the hood is not open. I have contacted Acura headquarters and they have told me to go to the dealer. What I have notice is that the latch moves back and forth easily and the hood flexes when you open it and pull on it. I have seen several complaints about this and people go to the dealerships and we get told the same thing. Everything is normal. I have never seen a car hood vibrate the way this hood vibrates.
Shortly after I purchased this vehicle in 2013, I noticed that their was a loud vibration coming from the front right driver's side near the wheel well when driving at speeds between 30 - 45 mph. This vibration would occur intermittently. When I took the vehicle back in to the Acura dealership, it was stated that they could not duplicate the issue. Two years later, the issue is still occurring and the dealership "can't duplicate". Additionally, noticed that there was bubbling of the front grill chrome paint. Later it became apparent that the left front passenger window panels were warped. Didn't make too much of a fuss about either issue, but in the summer of 2015, while running my car through a car wash, the panel popped off and began flapping in the wind. Returned vehicle to dealership and the window panel was replaced. At this time, I also informed them that the vehicle had begun to start exhibiting issues upon acceleration like it was struggling to gain power. You could also see the rpm indicator began to fluctuate when this issue occurred. This was also happening between 30-45 mph. Dealer performed a diagnostic and said that they were unable to locate any issues. Driving the vehicle does not feel safe. I am afraid that it will lose power while I am driving and cause an accident. I have owned multiple Acuras and the quality of this vehicle is by far the worst of any vehicle that I have ever owned.
I had the recall for the interlock defect done on my Acura 2006 Mdx on March 15, 2015. Parked in my garage, I got out of the car taking the keys out of the ignition not realizing it was in neutral. I walked briefly into the house and back out only to find my car was starting to roll out of my garage. I ran to jump in and try to stop the car, only to have the open door catch my other vehicle in the drive and damage it along with the Acura. Neighbors came to my rescue after hearing me call out for help. One man pushed the door further forward as it was in a forward, hyper-extention position wedged against the other car. The other man maneuvered my other car away from the Acura. A third neighbor went into my house for the keys to the Acura so I could get it into park. I feel this should be an Acura problem since I did the recall and suggested and there is still a problem resulting in an accident. Acura's customer relations will not help me on the damage to both cars and will only address the recall once again. I feel lucky that I only had some bruises and strained muscles. I fear others may have had the recall done and have the failure as I did and not be so lucky. I would appreciate help in pursuing an action against Acura to get them to fix both my cars and get to the bottom of why this replacement part didn't work. Was the part actually replaced as said, was it done wrong, or was the part replaced not the answer to the problem. I have filed with usaa for help, but still feel Acura is responsible for the damages to both vehicles. A friend of mine was able to duplicate this problem the next day by starting the car, putting the car in neutral, and then shutting off the car and pulling the key out while still in neutral. Obviously, the the new lever kit did not correct the problem. Any suggestions on what I can do now?.
