Srs device failed, leaving air bags inoperable. Dealer asked factory rep to authorize service. Denied by Acura. This is a safety hazard. Research indicates identical problems in other vehicles, a prior class action settlement and other complaints. Srs warning light stays on. Both dealer and independent garage tested and confirmed unit is defective.
After having taken the Acura to dealer 3 times for the takata air bag recall initially all was well. Then every 3rd time I started the engine the red warning light for airbag failure would come on. Now over the last 6 months every time the engine is started the warning light comes on and stays on. Would expense to repair/replacement be covered?.

The warning light on my dashboard display related to the airbag system is on. Auto shop says that it indicates a problem with the airbag system. I have not repaired it yet as they said it is an expensive repair. In would like to have it fixed. I am thinking it may be related to the problem being dealt with in the takata recall.

Srs/seat belt warning light came on at instrument panel then intemittingly over the next week. Took car in to dealer on October 13, 2014. Dealer advised that I needed to repair and not covered under any type of warranty. Called Acura corp for financial assistance, advised I would have to pay entirely for the repair, not covered under warranty. Similiar situation occurred with my transmission, needed to pay 60% for repairs even though it was under warranty. Very surprised there was no recall for transmission with hundreds if not thousands of Mdx owners affected. Hfl/bluetooth function inoperable and disconnected due to parasitic drainage. Need to replace no warranty coverage. Sent 3 certified letters to Acura corporate officers seeking answers, yet to receive a response from anyone. This is what you get from buying a luxury vehixle from Acura.

I have a recurring problem with my air bag system on my 2009 Acura Mdx (vehicle no 2hnyd28249h501436) which my local dealer has been unable to resolve. I first noticed the problem when the vehicle had approximately 21,000 miles. I contacted the service department at kearny mesa Acura and informed them the check air bag light was coming on. Kearny mesa Acura asked if it was on all of the time. I explained that the warning light was on intermittently (some days it was on and some days it was off). They said not to bring the car in until it is just on all of the time (everyday). Several months later it had degraded to the point where the light was on every day, so I brought the vehicle in for service. They tested the vehicle and replaced apart on the driver¿s side airbag (part no 78055-stx-a10). This was at 23,978 miles (on 11/9/2010). Within 6 months to a year, the light came on again. Again, I was informed to wait until the light stayed on consistently (everyday). Once that occurred, I brought the car in again. Kearny mesa again tested the vehicle and replaced the same part (part no 78055-stx-a10). This was at 46,511 miles (on 8/2/2012). Once again, within about 6 months to a year, the light came on. To this day, the problem has not been resolved and Acura wants to charge me $130 diagnosis plus repairs. I feel this is not acceptable on several levels. First of all, this is a recurring problem which began while the car was under warranty (and very early in the life of the vehicle). Secondly, it appears kearny mesa Acura is not properly diagnosing/repairing the problem. It is possible that another component is causing the failure of the part which is being repeatedly replaced (possibly wiring etc). I've also tried writing to Acura directly - president of Honda north America. They said I would just have to pay for any diagnosis or repairs myself.

The warning sensor on the srs systems keeps failing. The dealer is fixing, but I'm told that when the warning light is on the srs system will not deploy. Thus, the repeated faults in the srs sensing system is creating potential safety issue as the warning system is (in effect) shutting down the srs system. While the dealer has been fixing, there appears to be no urgency to warn customers that this kind of warning sensor actually keeps the air bag from deploying (manual is quite vague on this point). I am pursuing state lemon law remedies to get new car as I am now at the 4th failure of this component. Thought you should know about this systematic issue.
I have an Acura Mdx 2001. Since I bought this vehicle the yellow warning light (side airbag) is always lighting up even driving the car, when I'm stop, most of the time its lighting up. I'm worried maybe one day it will blow up. Also under the chasis when backing up then forward there was a noise that the crank might brake.
