The contact owns a 1997 Acura Rl. While pulling into a parking space at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into four parked vehicles. There were no injuries. The insurance company stated that the vehicle was destroyed; however, they did not investigate the failure. The acceleration failure also occurred with the contacts 1986 Acura legend, which was caused by a stuck butterfly valve. Police report number 08-007317 was filed. While sitting at a stop light vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing a three car collision. Consumer had foot on the brakes, and vehicle revved up to 60-70 mph. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who told consumer that some kind of pin got stuck, causing the vehicle to accelerate to 1000 rpms. When consumer took vehicle to dealer for regular maintenance, and told the mechanic about certain problems/concerns. They put the vehicle on the diagnostic machine, but nothing was found to be wrong.
