I received letter March 2020 notifying me of safety recall for airbag module and inflator- manufacturer recall number h6s, NHTSA recall number 20v-027 for my 2002 Acura 3. 5 Rl. The letter stated I was to wait for replacement parts to be prepared and I would receive a follow up letter when said parts were available and then I was to call an Acura dealership and make an appointment. It is now June 2020 and I have not received a follow up letter. I've searched on the Honda and Acura website for any kind of remedies, because the letter states the airbag inflator could rupture during deployment, with metal fragments possibly striking the driver or passengers, increasing the risk of serious injury or death. I entered my VIN on both websites recall searches- which turned up nothing. There's no indication of a solution or time frame. I have been fortunate enough to not have an accident of any kind, but I don't have another vehicle to drive- so I'm just crossing my fingers. It's been 60 days since this letter, and I was instructed to wait before contacting a dealer with this.

I have received a notice from America Honda motor company on March 2020 (NHTSA recall 20v-026) that the inflator inside the driver frontal airbag module may absorb moisture, which may cause the driver frontal airbag to malfunction in a crash where the airbag deploys. The letter states "the replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle, if necessary, are not available and Acura is unable to inspect/repair your vehicle at this time. " I called a local Acura dealer on 9/1/2020 and was told that the parts are still not available and they are expected may 2021. This timeframe seems unreasonable to me.

I received a recall notice in March and was told to park my car. I did for 9 months, forced to buy another car. Acura refused to provide a rental. We filed a class-action suit. Acura required an inspection of the airbags/inflator. I received an invoice I could not understand and called the dealer. They refused to return five messages, and when we I reached them they wouldn't tell me what items on the invoice meant, saying they were not allowed to, and that I had to call Acura. I called Acura and they told me to call the dealer. The invoice mentioned a disconnected air bag and a faulty module. Both of those items put me and my passengers in danger. There was a reference to increased pressure in the airbag deflator. I felt I deserved an explanation because I don't know if increased pressure is a good thing or a bad thing. The Acura rep told me she was not allowed to give me any information. After some pressure she told me they could not access the dealer information. Upon pressure, she read me some house information that said the control module is faulty and that they replaced the inflator, among other things. I asked her to repeat that. Again she used the word replaced. replaced is very different from inspected. I asked for a copy of that documentation, but she refused. I think there's a possibility that I actually had the faulty inflator, but they replaced it and reported that to Acura, and then simply sent an invoice to me and my attorney showing the car had been inspected. I think they thought that once everybody saw it has been inspected, that would be the end of the issue and the class action suit. Regardless, they behaved egregiously, my car is in the same shape, if not worse, than it was before the inspection, my passengers and I remain in danger, and I fear driving the car even more than I did before. I deserve better than this and I want some answers.

Takata recall--first called to order parts in recall ( driver and passenger airbag inflators) on July 7. Just called ( September 12) and parts still not available. I do not feel safe driving my car since the driver's airbag is affected by this recall. I do not feel they are responding in an appropriate amount of time to rectify this issue. Dealer had no idea when parts would be available. It's been well over 60 days since I first called to have parts replaced.

Takata recall - we received an "important safety recall" notice, informing us of the defects in passenger-side airbag inflators. Needless to say, the nature of the defect is such that I would not feel safe having myself or a family member ride in the vehicle in the passenger-side front seat. A similar recall notice came out about the driver-side airbags a couple of months ago. That part was available quickly, and the repair work for the recall done expeditiously. I have to assume that is because my dealership (or american Honda motor corporation) was paying for my rental car in the interim. I think it has been too long for this repair/recall to be addressed, as I received the notice and contacted my dealership to have the repair done two months ago. It is decidedly inconvenient to have to use two vehicles to transport my family places, as no one can ride in the front seat and be ensured that in the event of an accident and airbag deployment, the risk of death or great bodily injury would not occur. Please tell me how I can go about getting this repair done as soon as possible, as I think that the price of a rental vehicle to use in the interim should absolutely be covered by the dealer, based on the nature of the defect.

I called Acura to see if the type air bag inflator in my car used ammonium nitrate. My car is not on the recalled list but given the nature of the problem I was going to replace, at least the driver's side, if the inflator was using the unstable propellant. Acura would not provide me any information. I called NHTSA and they told me to provide information to this site to see if I can get the information to protect myself and family regardless of the corporate decision.
