Dashboard Crack Problems of Acura TL - part 2

The dashboard started cracking. Now, it has cracks all over. Passenger side and driver side. This may cause issue with the airbags. I looked on line and this is very common in 2004 Tls. Acura refuses to fix the issue. Some have also experienced issues with their air bags due to the cracking.

Almost overnight cracks in the dashboard developed running from windshield to passenger compartment in direction. There are six cracks the longest being about a foot in length. In the heat of the day all of the cracks seem to seal back up but immediately reappear when the passenger compartment cools down. To be specific the longest crack runs windshield to compartment on the passenger side of dash. Two smaller cracks run from windshield to center speaker and speaker to compartment. Two more run from windshield to instrument panel. Again all seal in extreme daytime heat.

The top of the dash in my Acura has many cracks that have developed to the point where I believe it my impact the air bag. Minor cracks might be seen with time in the dash however these are large, numerous and obviously a manufacturing defect that should be fixed.

My dashboard are cracking over night. It was first one small crack and now I have 3 area that have crack. This all happen within a week! the crack are getting bigger as day go by. One of the crack is over the airbag and I feel unsafe. There are some plastic on the dash and if there was an accident, fear those particle may fly at me. I did my research and may Acura Tl model from 2004-2008 have this same problem. Some had this issue at early as 20,000 miles.

I found a crack on the dash on the driver's side coming front to back approx 18 inches and then spreading sideways for over 2ft. I called Acura and they say its not covered because its considered wear and tear and that it'd cost approx $2000 to fix. . Read more...

The dash on my 2005 Acura Tl has started to crack and I am afraid it getting too close to where the passenger side airbag deploys. There are numerous complaint about the dash cracking online. This to me see like a major concern god forbid if I am in a wreck with a passenger. I went to my local dealership and they rejected the claim to fix this problem which is very upsetting since is either garaged or parked in the shade and this still happened.

Two 12 inch vertical cracks down both sides of what appears to be the passenger air bag. Cracks are on dash board. I'm not sure how safe the airbag on that side is now with the cracks outlining the airbag location.

The dashboard is cracking severely on the passenger side of the vehicle. The cracks are expanding rapidly, and it looks like an outline of the airbag compartment. I'm afraid that the airbag will deploy accidentally, and/or that the pieces of the dashboard will injure someone riding on the passenger side of the front seat during an airbag deployment. My wife is scared to ride in the car now.

Dashboard cracked suddenly above the passenger airbag compartment exposing the airbag compartment to the sun through the crack. The crack initially formed suddenly while I was driving, and made a loud clap, which could startle drivers. After about a week the crack grew all the way to the windshield and now I have 2 cracks about a foot long each perpendicular to each other. Also another crack closer to the middle of the dashboard appeared about a week ago. That crack is about half the size of the cracks by the passenger airbag.

Overnight my dash board has significant cracks this car has been garage kept and apparently many 04 and 05 Acura's have this issue looks terrible and dealer wants 1500 to replace I think a recall is in order from Acura/Honda I am so frustrated now . . . My dash is cracking at an accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, then started sinking deeper that makes an obvious rectangle on my dash. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? this should get some serious safety considerations.

Got into my car and noticed my dashboard cracked in two places!! this is wrong!! Acura should take accountability for this!!!.

My dashboard has a crack around the driver's side airbag. The car has never been hit or wrecked. This crack just appeared and the check airbag indicator is on. I've been reading on the internet that many many other owners of this car are having the same problem. I'm afraid the airbag will deploy without cause. Please check into this and let me know if there is a cause for a recall on this car. Thanks.

Wife made me aware that a crack appreared on the dash atter taking down the sun shade to come home after work. It was about a four inch crack on top of the left edge of where the air bag deploys. I was somewhat concerned because f the location. I rode on the car again this afternoon and not only has the original crack doubled in size there is another one on the opposite side of the air bag deployment. Both cracks are on the edge of the air bag "box" now I am very concerned and I get only line to see how to either repair or replace this dash. After searching I see that there are alot of complaints with this same issue. It seems Acura has a problem with the material used to cover the dash. They need to step up and replace these dash boards.

Multiple cracks on dash began on passenger side. New cracks developed over speedometer. Poor design of structural dash support is causing dash to fall apart.
