I noticed a large crack on the passenger side dashboard running along the left side of the airbag compartment, we haven't had any accidents or anything that would cause this, I had the car inspected by the dealership where we purchased the car (new) in 2004 and I was told it was considered a cosmetic problem and that it would not interfere with airbag deployment. . . Also to replace the dashboard would cost $1200! I personally feel that Acura should be forced to issue a recall and replace the dashboard before someone dies because the passenger-side airbag either deploys wrong or not at all!.

Dash on passenger side of 2004 Acura Tl cracked exactly as depicted on many sites afecting owners of such make & model. This is a failure consistent with its mfg year and should be repaired under warranty.

The contact owns a 2004 Acura Tl. The contact stated that there was a crack above the passenger side air bag and he could see the air bag imprint. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that he would have to repair the vehicle at his own expense. The current mileage was approximately 103,000. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Dashboard on my 2005 Acura has cracked in three places, one right over the passenger airbag, I have complained to Acura, but this happened after the warranty ended.
The car has developed huge cracks around the passenger side airbag. I am concerned that the cracks might cause my passenger side airbag not to work properly. The driver's side leather seat also begin to come apart.
About 2 weeks after I purchased my brand new Acura Tl, I noticed that my driver side window rattles loudly when I shut the door, especially when my window is rolled down part way. Each day the rattle gets worse and now the window rattles when I drive on bumpy roads. I called the dealership and made an appointment to have my driver side window fixed. The rattling noise is so loud that I am concerned that the window will break and will cause bodily harm. The service advisor insisted that there wasn't a problem and refused to take any sort of action. He refused to schedule an appointment for me because he said there's nothing he could do about it, and reassured me that this is just the way the car is designed. After arguing back and forth, they finally agreed to inspect my car. The service advisor inspected my vehicle window and inspected another vehicle (same make and model) to see the difference. He adamantly denied that there was a difference in the vehicles. I inspected it and noticed that my vehicle is making a considerably noisier rattle. There was clearly a difference. The service advisor then grabbed another gentleman that works directly for the Acura corporation as their zone manager. He inspected both vehicles and of course he lied and conspired with the service advisor to tell me that theres nothing wrong with my window. Both gentlemen even questioned my concern for a rattling window. I explained that this could cause bodily injury if the window breaks or if I were to get into an automobile accident and the window is not supported properly. It was apparent both of them did not want to fix my vehicle. I am uncertain of the reasoning behind their motive, possibly they did not want incur financial loss, since my vehicle is under warranty and any cost associated to the repair would come from either the Acura corporation or the dealership. Acura has refused to acknowledge problem with window. Acura is trying to cover-up this problem.

Bought this car in the dark. Next morning I discovered the entire dash on both sides is split. I don't have another 10k to spend on a vehicle but am terrified of driving in it with my children as the airbag seems to be where the spreading started. Please help!!!!.
As a passenger, I often find the big heavy door will not stay in the open position while I am trying to exit from the car. There are several "locking" positions, but none of them hold firmly. This is especially true if the car is on even a slight incline. I find myself kicking the door out of the way so I can safely exit. The car is leased, and I would consider not buying it because of this problem. No crash, no injury, no damage to our car or other cars. This is an annoying design flaw. This has been an ongoing problem since we got the car.

Dash board driver to passenger side many large long cracks. Acura Tl owners get no response from Acura motor company on this defect.
The contact owns a 2004 Acura Tl. The vehicle has goodyear eagle tires. The contact stated that there was a TSB number 05-076 that was issued by Acura. The TSB pertains to tire wear when the vehicle is loaded. The contact purchased brand new tires in December of 2007. He took a road trip with 5,000 miles on the tires. The trip was 5,600 miles. While driving 75 mph, he noticed that the tires were bald a couple of days ago. He called the Acura dealer and informed them of the failure. The dealer stated that they would repair the tires with the towing issue and the TSB, but would not replace the tires. The tires are both on the rear of the vehicle. The tire size was unknown. The failure mileage was 29,000. Updated 09/10/08 the consumer didn't believe the problem was with the tires. He believed it had to do with the poor design of the vehicle. The consumer stated there was extra weight in the rear of the vehicle, in his case was about 300lbs comprised of suitcases and his daughter in the back seat (the suitcases were in the trunk). When he arrived home, he noticed the tread on the tires had worn down to nothing. Updated 09/10/08.
About 3-6 months ago, I noticed a crack on the passenger side of my Acura 2006 Tl. Gradually the crack grew, then over time, I saw two more cracks in the areas where the airbags are located. Now these cracks are widening and I can see white in the cracks. My concern is that the manufacturer's defect will compromise proper deployment of the airbags in case of an accident. If so, this can have tragic consequences. I called the Acura manufacturer customer service. They informed me that it will cost me $1500-2000 and that the adjustment from them will be minimal because the warranty for such a thing has expired. I researched on the internet and discovered that this is a common problem for Acuras. Please, please investigate and help others like me who are highly disappointed, discouraged and angry about the poor quality of materials used in the area that encases the airbags that should protect us from injury or death. For your information: my car has 92,000 miles and I have always taken good precautions to protect the dashboard with a windshield cover, used special conditioner and cracked my windows to keep the heat out. I also do proper and timely mechanical and electrical maintenance. I am the only driver and was hoping this would be my last car. Now, if I must sell my car, my car has depreciated substantially due to poor workmanship and I will have a car payment I don't need or can't afford. Do ru.

My car makes a loud clunk when I am backing out of a parking place or driveway and turn the wheel and apply the brakes. I brought the car into the Acura dealer and was told that they were aware of the problem and that it is characteristic of this model and also the mdx that was made that year. I was told there was nothing wrong with my car, however, how do I resell the car with such a noise present? I feel there should be a recall and the problem fixed.

I had the transmission replaced in my 2000 Acura Tl under the NHTSA required extended warranty. I had 63,000 miles on the car at the time. When the dealer replaced the transmission they advised me that the front motor mount was broken and asked if I wanted it fixed. I told them to replace the motor mount, at a cost of $163. 43. I have owned over 17 vehicles in my lifetime and never had a broken motor mount. My wife and I are retired and do not in any way drive the car any any sort of rough manner. The car has never been any any accidents either. I question why a vehicle with only 63,000 miles on it should come up with a broken engine mount. Is this another Acura defect?.
