1 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 01/22/2026

Description of safety defect: while starting car up, the digital instrument cluster (speedometer and all primary driver instrumentation) goes completely black with no warning. The infotainment system continues to operate normally. After driving a short distance (sometimes only a few miles), the vehicle then experiences a complete loss of power steering, making the car extremely difficult or impossible to control. This creates an immediate risk of a crash, especially at speed or during turning. In multiple instances, after this failure occurs, the vehicle also becomes difficult to shut off, remaining in accessory or powered states despite attempts to turn the vehicle off. This defect involves simultaneous failure •driver instrumentation display •electric power steering assistance •normal ignition shutdown behavior the loss of steering assist results in a sudden and unexpected loss of vehicle control. This appears to be an electronic or control-module failure affecting multiple safety-critical systems. Safety impact: this defect poses a serious risk of crash, injury, or death due to sudden loss of steering assistance and lack of speed/vehicle status information while driving. Frequency: has occurred twice - each time requiring roadside assistance to get the car to the dealer warning lights or messages: none - just complete loss of instrumentation cluster dealer response (if applicable): dealer initially claimed it had fixed, but it occurred again within 24 hours of retrieving from dealer. Dealer has now had car go over a week claiming that it needs to generate the fault state more than once before it will make any warranty repairs.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 11/16/2025

49,622 mark on my 2020 Acura Tlx awd… auto stop was enabled, car was at stoplight, engine attempted to re-engage but did not and car went into “neutral”… and the lights stayed on. I immediately turned on blinkers to avoid crash and and attempted to re start car, I shifted into park, shut down car and re-started it successfully. I am seeking repair or disablement of the auto stop system, this is a safety hazard to myself and my family as well as others who had to go around while the issue was being troubleshooted. This appears to be related to investigation:ea25004.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

Warning lights for electric parking brake problem and emissions system problem simultaneously occurring with no definitive solution. Codes can be cleared by disconnecting battery and reconnecting but warning lights eventually come back on sometimes in a matter or days, weeks or month. There are no other issues that coincide with these warning lights coming on.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 09/17/2025

Infotainment system shuts down while driving and ultimately causes the power to drain from the vehicle leaving the vehicle inoperative. This is the second time this has happened. Acura has already repaired once with less than 1000 miles on the car. Now it’s happening again.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/31/2025

Date of incident : August 31,2025 around 9pm on August 31, I was fixing to accelerate at a green light. I pressed the gas pedal, my car went up to 40 mph and then the engine failed. This is due to a recall on the bearing rods for 2015-2020 Acura Tlx. The incident occurred a month after financing the car. I don't have a warranty, so I opened up a case with the manufacturer to get help with the repair cost (which is 25,500 for a new engine block and 2 new cylinder heads). Unfortunately, Acura denied assistance. The car only has 68880 miles on it. The rod snapped and put a hole through my engine block. Shame on the manufacturer for denying assistance. I'm now stuck making payments on a car I cannot drive. Yes I have insurance, but it was not involved in an accident so I'm helpless there.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/12/2025

High pressure fuel pump failure. Car not functional and every warning light started to light up. The car just was serviced for rod bearing (entire crank shaft needed replacement) and regular fuel pump recall replacement which took the dealership almost a month to complete. I spoke to Acura representative who indicated that when either of the fuel pump or high pressure fuel pump is replaced, the other pump could fail. I'm not sure why both of the fuel pumps (standard and high) are not both replaced as part of the recall if there is substantial damage as was my case. Also, please note that there is an active high pressure fuel pump recall on my car, just not my VIN.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/07/2025

The wipers come on by themselves and do not turn off. The engine may or may not start with the key fob nearby. All the dash warning lights come on with warnings about the brake system, the transmission, the steering, the adaptive cruise control all reporting a problem. The vehicle goes to limp mode and throttle response is severely reduced. There is some sort of water leak which is shorting out or causing the bcm or body control module to act erratically due to water from rain getting into the area because of improper weather sealant placed during manufacturing. There is a service bulletin that was put out in roughly April of 2024 that describes this issue affecting the 2021 Tlx models.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/05/2025

Electric parking brake problem , and emissions system problem. Apparently its a common issue many are affected.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 07/28/2025

We have three Acura vehicles at home and this is the newest one - 2025 Tlx a-spec. The vehicle is only a few months old and already suffered two infortainment screen failures. This is the primary screen on the dash that shows navigation and other information. The screen goes dark completely due to either an electronics/hardware issue or a software issue. This could be a safety issue if the driver is driving using the map app at a busy intersection, and the screen stops working. Once it is out of order, the only way to fix it is taking it back to dealer and do a battery level re-set. Not acceptable! please investigate and start a recall if needed. Thanks so much for your time.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

While driving, my vehicle has randomly shut off mid-drive on multiple occasions without warning. This has happened both at low speeds and on city roads, creating a serious safety risk as the engine cuts out without any dashboard lights, alerts, or codes. I lose power steering and acceleration, which could easily cause an accident if it happens at higher speeds or in traffic. The issue is intermittent and unpredictable, making it difficult to reproduce. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership multiple times, but they have been unable to replicate the issue or find a cause through diagnostics. Honda has advised me to tow the vehicle the next time it happens, which is unreasonable given the uncertainty and safety risk of being stranded. At the time of each incident, there were no warning lights, error messages, or unusual noises. The vehicle has restarted after turning it off and on again, but the underlying cause remains unknown. I have opened a case with american Honda, but no resolution has been offered beyond repeating the same inspections that have already failed to diagnose the issue. To date, neither the manufacturer nor the dealership has confirmed the issue or replaced any parts. I am deeply concerned about the potential for this to happen in a more dangerous situation. I am reporting this to NHTSA in hopes that this issue is investigated and resolved before it leads to an accident or injury. Cause of issue: unknown. Vehicle available for inspection.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 05/30/2025

The contact owns a 2020 Acura Tlx. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v751000 (engine and engine cooling) and an unknown recall for the tires, and another for the trim around the doors. The contact stated that the recall repairs were completed. The contact’s son picked up the vehicle from the dealer and noticed that the front windshield was cracked. Additionally, while driving 65 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally, and the driver was unable to control the vehicle. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side tire detached from the vehicle. The driver was able to regain control of the vehicle and pulled over to the side of the road. Several messages were displayed on the instrument panel including messages that the cruise control was inoperable, assist line collison system inoperable, road mitigation system unavailable, collison mitigation system failure were displayed. When the tow truck arrived at the scene, the tow truck driver noticed that bolts connected to the spindle had detached. The vehicle was towed to a tire specialist and the tires were replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 05/09/2025

Car’s advertised anti-theft features are faulty. They have two tracking features with also both failed. When I contacted Acura they said this was a known issue and highly prevalent in NY, DC, FL, MD. Cars computer is cloneable and it takes less than 3 minutes to enter and steal without keys or breaking windows or enabling alarms.

I had the same issue as [xxx] . I do see there are many others effected by this and some have overpaid due to inaccurate diagnostics by dealerships. We would really appreciate if NHTSA looks into this issue and help us. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

16 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 04/26/2025

My husband and I have a 2022 Acura Tlx (purchased new) that was issued a safety recall. We brought the car into the dealership in April to fix the problem. Two weeks later, the car completely malfunctioned- every warning light went off at the same time, and the car completely lost control. Steering, brakes, power/gas, everything went out. During this second visit, the dealership replaced the pcm. Last night, the exact same issue happened. My husband was thankfully near home, but if he was on a highway, he could've easily been killed. Again, everything in the car went out- steering, brakes, power- and he had zero control of the car. The car was towed a couple hours ago to the dealership (third time since initial visit in April), and the service manager said, "this has never happened before. . . " and had no answers. This is an extremely high risk situation, and we do not feel safe getting into this car when the dealership/manufacturer is clearly not able to fix their own safety recall.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 03/12/2025

The backup camera on the rear simply went blurry one day, it’s now impossible to see out the camera. It worked one day then failed the next, this is a safety hazard now. I think these cameras should be required to always function. This is the camera on the trunk. It’s unsafe for me to see when back up.

Acura Tlx stop start system it will turn off on red light or stop! engine fails to restart on its own! jump start required!!!! is not safe for millions of families!.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 02/28/2025

I will be driving down the interstate and the car will go into neutral and throw a transmission code. It appears to happened when the car reaches 60mph.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 02/08/2025

I was driving on the freeway going at the speed of traffic about 65-70mph then suddenly I heard my car engine slowing down and multiple lights popped up on my dashboard. I looked at my speedometer and it indeed was decreasing in speed. I tried to accelerate little by little and it did not. My check brake system, check brake hold system, check power steering system, check vsa system, check hillstart assist system, check emission system lights popped up on my dashboard. My car felt like I was popping the clutch, jerking a lot. I was able to move over to the right shoulder and park. I turned the car off and I was able to turn it back on unfortunately but the lights were still popping up and my car kept jerking and not accelerating. This happened while driving on the highway this is extremely dangerous! there has been others with the same issue.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 02/07/2025

All lights turned on randomly during drive. Replaced battery 2x seeing it was a common issue in my year Acura and also newer models. Still have the issue occuring. All lights from transmission error to lane keep asist ect.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 01/28/2025

The car is constantly throwing codes for faulty emissions system problem and parking brake problem but the car runs fine. The dealership will not do anything unless I pay them a fee to diagnose it and then they suggest replacing the catalytic converter even though it’s very likely a faulty fuel hose or faulty sensor. This needs to be recalled and fixed immediately.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 01/16/2025

Electronic parking brake and check emissions system lights going on simultaneously. Car stalled on freeway and check transmission light also went on simultaneously. Very dangerous. Multiple reports submitted for similar issue by many people. Please look into this. Acura needs a recall on these Tlx models.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 12/24/2024

The vehicle's dash states the following are malfunctioning: road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, collision mitigation system, and lane keeping assist. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. A few days prior to this message appearing on the dash, the car flashed and beeped that I needed to brake when there wasn't anything in front of me while driving. The car automatically braked without me doing anything. There weren't any vehicles behind me in that specific moment. With how sudden the car braked, this could have caused a collision. This vehicle has been repaired by the dealership where it was purchased, for this exact issue. The first sign of sensors malfunctioning was in January 2022 (I purchased the vehicle in June 2021). I have taken the vehicle to the dealership for repairs 3 times in relation to sensor malfunction and for replacement of rear actuators, which is stated in the service repair summaries. Since the last repair in 2023, the same problem has occurred once again. This latest incident has included the automatic braking without any objects in front of the vehicle. I have not driven the vehicle in two days due to this safety concern.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 12/20/2024

Was driving in the car for a while and the dashboard just turned off. Could not see speed or any other safety controls.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 10/14/2024

Acura Tlx suddenly starts flickering, its a common Honda manufacturing defect ive attached a video for reference [xxx] it’s dangerous because it can leave someone stranded unsafe information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

28 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 09/30/2024

In September 2023 went in for an oil change. Next day all my cmbs, acc, lkas and road departure mitigation system all light up on my dashboard as well brake system light. I called and took the car in they said that it had something to do with the camera sensor. I left a complaint and the manager called after I explained to him he said he would call me back. 1. 5 years later he never called back. In October 2024 my car alarm started going off for no reason. I took it in and $1000 to fix. Seems like a lot of electric issues with this car.

29 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 07/25/2024

Car experiences intermittent electrical system failure. Upon failure, drivers will experiance random and rapid clicking, clanking, and electrical systems discharging like lights, screens, and alarm. After restarting the car, users will find, all warning lights displayed with a few blinking: transmission, parking brake, traction control, a few more. Headlights will randomly turn on, as well as the alarm, intermittently. All adas offline. Experienced sudden system failure causing all adas to fail while stationary/parked or moving/(actively driving on highway). Does actively affect driving ability more specifically: disrupts steering ability, causes random malfunctions with electrical components, cannot exceed 40 mph, car will not shift above 3rd gear, engine does seem much louder. After a thorough investigation/diagnosis with the dealership I concluded the main fault is due to the "Smart power control unit" located behind the glovebox compartment of the vehicle. More specifically, one of the chips on the circuit board is not fully coated with sealant from the factory, leading to a potential for some kind of mold, dust, or organic growth to form and short one of the ground pins on the end of the chip. Driver states: this is a control unit failure, I believe a small short on a single ground pin with the positively charged chip housing was causing a short within the control unit circuit board where the chip was not fully covered with non-conductive coating/sealant. This caused a handful of issues, like electrical systems prematurely wearing due to rapid discharge of electronics. Impairs drivers ability and ability in turning, braking, and accelerating. Also car will roll backwards if driver is not careful. Biggest concerns: fire, partial loss of control while driving, and premature wear on electrical components. A extra note: disconnecting battery does temporarily fix issue but rarely, most time it will start discharging electrical systems immediately or in the day.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 06/15/2024

The car will stall. The auto start/stop does not turn the car back on. The car fails to start sometimes when trying to leave. We have almost been rear ended multiple times, the transmission stalls and will not “go” when you press the gas or the car won’t even turn back on. We have contacted Acura and a local dealer. Both say they do not have a remedy for this issue yet even though it’s part of the recall and keep pushing it off to the next season. Each time I call for an inspection, I get told there is nothing they can do. I ask about seeking legal advice and they just tell me they don’t have a remedy so a lawyer can not help me.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

My car alarm keeps going off. It happened last week overnight 3 times (12:30, 1:30, 2:30) last week and a week later again overnight.

32 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 04/18/2024

I would like to report a serious safety issue with the 2021 Acura Tlx type s. Recently in April 2024, while driving, I heard a loud pop from the vehicle, and it turned out that the transfer case had burst into the transmission. This failure has rendered the rear-wheel drive non-functional, resulting in severe oversteer. This oversteer is especially dangerous because the vehicle is now operating as front-wheel drive, which creates an unpredictable and hazardous driving experience. This issue could lead to a catastrophic transmission failure, particularly at highway speeds, posing a severe safety risk to me and other drivers. I have contacted the dealer about the problem, but they have refused to take any corrective action. I’ve also found that multiple other owners have reported similar issues with this model, highlighting a potential widespread problem with the transfer case and transmission interface. Given the safety risks associated with this failure, I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect and take appropriate action to ensure public safety.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 03/04/2024

I have had several incidents where I have been unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle does not recognize the keyless remote even though it is present and has a good battery. We have been stranded several times because the car would not start. I have taken it to the dealer and submitted a complaint with Acura which they have done nothing to solve the problem since they cannot replicate it. I have pictures and videos but your system is not letting me upload the file type. These have also been provided to the dealer.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

I am reporting a critical safety issue with my 2021 Acura Tlx (VIN: [xxx] ), specifically related to the transmission and transfer case. The problem is centered around the transmission’s spline splitting into the transfer case, which causes severe jerking while driving. The car moves forward erratically, jumping up and down, and on multiple occasions, the vehicle has shut off while driving at highway speeds. This is extremely dangerous and poses a significant risk to my life and others on the road. This issue is widely reported by other Acura owners online, and it appears to be a common defect with the transmission, specifically the remanufactured transmission part number 06200-6t2-a02rm. The cost of repairing this issue exceeds $5,000, and since the vehicle is no longer under warranty, I am deeply concerned about having to replace both the transmission and transfer case, only for the same problem to recur. The vehicle is still drivable, but the issue is worsening, and I fear for my safety. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter and press Honda/Acura to address this defect immediately, as it is a severe safety hazard. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

35 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 01/23/2024

The contact owns a 2019 Acura Tlx. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights illuminated and the back over prevention camera independently enabled. In addition, the vehicle stalled, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to several different dealers over a dozen times, however the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer had an electrical technician to inspect the vehicle; however, the failure was not duplicated. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
