1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2006 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 04/18/2014

I am the original owner of the 2006 Acura Tsx. Ever since the first date of purchase, the front and rear brakes pads were not always strong enough to stop the vehicle. I always have to push down the brakes hard in order to stop. I do not usually drive the vehicle in the snow. However, in April 2014, I was driving the Acura Tsx in a turn on a 15 miles per hour under snow condition, and I pressed the brakes hard. The car took too long in distance to brake, as a result, the front bumper and both front wheel rims were damaged as the car hit the curb. The incident resulted due to the weak braking system.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 03/17/2013

Acura Tsx 2010 rear brakes are prematurely wearing. During last visit to the dealer (around 27,000 miles) I was told that my rear break pads have only 3mm of ceramic left. I was very surprized by this news, but did not get them repalced at that time. Now I went ahead and replaced rear break pads myself and was very shocked to see that the pads that are in contact with claipers are alomost gone while pads that are on the outer side of the wheel still have more than 50% of life left in them. I will save the break pads so let me know if you want to see them.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 07/10/2012

I took my 2010 Acura Tsx in for periodic maintenance (a-1). I was advised by the service representative that my rear brakes were worn down to 3 milliters and would need replacement soon. I asked if there was a recall or class action suit on these brakes and was told that there was for hondas and Acura Tsx's up to 2009. Apparently the actions taken by Honda/Acura are insufficient. Acura wants over $300 to replace the pads and surface the rotors. Apparently Honda is offering discounts of $150 for the service under the terms of the class action suit, which doesn't cover my particular Acura. However resurfacing the rotors cannot be done every 20,000 miles without needing early replacement of the rotors. Who pays for that? I was going to wait to take the car in for service. I wonder how serious this would have been if the rear brakes had failed during the ensuing period?.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Brakes have worn considerably over the last 10,000 miles. I purchased the vehicle 'certified pre-owned' in may, 2011. Now, only a year and 10k miles later. . . The car has begun to shake violently, affecting driver's ability to steer during heavy braking. The onset was incredibly fast. . . From barely noticeable to violently shaking the car in about 300 city miles at most. Looks like the pads will need to be replaced and the rotors smoothed, maybe replaced. Based on the estimates I have found, this repair will cost approximately $175 + labor if the rotors do need to be replaced. The unfortunate part about all of this. . . I didn't even have time to get my pads changed before they began to wear on my rotor. The stock Honda brakes appear to have worn out in the rear first, then the front. From what I can tell, the front brakes had to pick up the slack from the notoriously inadequate rear brakes, causing the fronts to wear considerably faster.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 08/05/2011

My 2010 Acura Tsx has less than 23,000 miles, and it has not been involved in any accidents. Recently I noticed a loud rattling and screeching noise in the back rear of the car. The noise continued to get more frequent and louder. I took it in to get serviced today (August 5, 2011) at the Acura dealership, and their representative told me that it was "normal wear and tear" of the rear brakes and advised rear brake replacement. I asked when rear brakes generally need to be replaced, and she replied that it is usually every 20,000-30,000 miles. She also noted that the rear brakes were found on "squealers. " I disagree with the "normal wear and tear" assessment; it is a safety defect. My family has owned 2 Acuras as well as a Nissan, Toyota, Saturn, and Ford, and we have never had to replace brake pads at this low mileage when it was not a manufacturer's defect. When I got home, I looked up this issue online and found that there was a class action lawsuit on this specific defect. I did get the rear brakes replaced because I was very concerned about my safety as well as the safety of others while driving a car with defective brakes. Based on the fact that there was a class action lawsuit, this manufacturer's defect affects many vehicles, and Honda refuses to take action to correct their defective brakes. Nhtsa should investigate and require Honda to recall and repair this defect. Thank you for addressing this safety issue.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

I have a 2009 Acura Tsx. At about 34,000 miles I started noticing a high-pitched noise coming from the rear passenger side. Took the vehicle in, and they determined that it was my rear brake pads. Nearly all of my driving is highway, indicating that there may be an issue with the integrity of the rear braking system. Cost to replace was $250.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 11/15/2010

At 20,000 miles I was informed that I will need rear brake pads on my 2009 Tsx. After I left the appointment, my brakes began squealing and grinding when stopping or slowing down. This seems premature and I would like an investigation.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 08/26/2010

Took a 2008 Acura Tsx with 27,300 miles to the local greenville SC dealer 3 times to report front wheel shake when braking. First 2 times nothing could be found on the 3rd visit dealer reported need new rear brake pads and the rotors turned. Also reported the front rotors were warped caused by driving through water after braking which makes the rotors hot. Suspect rear brakes are not adequate and wear too fast which forces the front brakes to compensate. Manufacturer cut corners to reduce costs ultimately the safety of the public.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 05/24/2010

1. Excessive brake pad wear was noted on inboard side of rear brakes during routine service (at 21,000 miles). 2. Pads were replaced by dealer.

10 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 04/22/2010

Abnormal brake wear: I bought this certified, one-year-old dealer demo in January with approx. 10,000 miles on it. Between then and a service appointment in late April, I put another 8,500 mostly highway miles on the car. At the service appointment I was told that I needed to replace the rear brakes as they were on the verge of failure. I was also told such excessive wear was common in this model as well as the Honda accord. I have never had to replace breaks at 18,500 miles, much less after 8,500. I was shrugged off by the service department and basically instructed that my best option was to purchase a lifetime warranty on the pads to help off-set the costs of constantly replacing them (this way I'm only out time and labor) due to a braking system that the dealership admitted had a design flaw but that they somehow couldn't fix. I don't understand why Honda/Acura is allowed to blow off repairing a defect in a safety component as critical as the braking system.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 04/08/2010

My 2010 Acura Tsx brake pad wore out @ 21k miles. A day after I started hearing noise I turn it into the dealer. They tell me the brake pads wore out and that the rotors are damaged. I end up having to pay $321. 20 in repairs. I still am hearing noise from the rear wheel as it is not fully repaired. I'll have to take time off work to take it in yet again. I have a 2006 Honda element in the garage and I never replaced the pads yet. There's a serious problem with this. I am very unhappy.

12 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 04/05/2010

Rear brake pads were worn out and needed to be replaced at 16k miles on my new Acura Tsx 2009 car.

13 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 02/15/2010

I have a 2009 Acura Tsx. At 17k miles the dealership said there was 7 mm left of rear brake pads. At 23k the brakes started to squeal. Dealer said 3mm left and needed replacement. When left, the squealing was gone. At 26k they state there is 00mm left. The dealership will not correct the problem. No break pad should wear out in this short amount of time.

14 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/20/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Acura Tsx. He states that while braking he heard screeching and grinding noises. This has been occurring for 2 weeks now. The contact states that this is a premature brake issue. The failure mileage was 13535 and current mileage was 13600. Updated 2/22/10 updated 06/01/10.

15 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 08/16/2009

Front brake failure. Front brake rotors are warping to cause serve vibrations and very weak brakes. This had occurred before reaching 50,000 miles. Rotors and pads need to be replaced. I do not want to use original dealer replacement parts due to the fact it will just happen again. This is well know on internet and even my local inspection garage knows about it. Something needs to be done please.

16 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 05/22/2000

Brakes on Acura 2009 Tsx wearing more frequently that they should. My Acura began to make noise 2 days ago. It seemed like it was coming from the drivers side wheel, but I couldn't tell if it was front or back. I dropped it off at the dealership at 7:00 am this morning and told them to call me after they identified the problem and before they made any repairs. They said they recommend brake pads being changed every 15,000 miles. I have never had to do that for any vehicle I've owned (I am on my 3rd Acura and never had this issue with the 2 tls I had). They said they would cover the front, but I needed to pay for the back. Approx. $350 for the work and materials.
