2 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

I purchased new 2012, for the first time after 10 years, the car is unsafe, brake pedal becomes hard after start up cold - noticed if outside weather between 30-25 degrees brake pedal becomes hard for the first 2-3 times and car will not stop, if the weather below 16 degrees it will take 9-10 times - if you push and pump the brake pedal the brake pedal power comes back to normal but not the first or 2nd time and also has something to do with weather. Car was purchased in virginia and stayed in virginia last 10 years and this is the first winter this happen.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 09/24/2021

On Friday, September 24, 2021 when I went around a curve my car felt like the vehicle stability assist was trying to kick on. However, no warning light came on and I was not going to fast for the weather or road conditions. I did not hit any pot holes or anything else to cause the part to fail. When I went to apply my brakes the brakes felt soft and spongy and I was concern with the car not stopping. Safety issues for me and others were if my car didn't stop and me hitting another vehicle and injuring/killing them or myself due to the component failure. I was able to get my car to Acura sterling mccall in houston and they were able to duplicate the issue and I was advised the vsa needed to be replaced. That this was causing the soft brakes.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 02/25/2021

Abs/vsa warning light in instrument panel comes on at start-up, other times when driving, then disappears only to come back on again and later re-appear, disappears, intermittently. Dealer has quoted $2,900 for abs/vsa module 57110-tl2-s21 to which I said no way. Did quick survey on the internet and found this is a frequent problem on those vehicles, and 2 or 3 model years. . Think NHTSA should look into this as it's safety related and cause accidents and, quite possibly, fatal results.

5 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 02/08/2021

7 f, car was parked outside all night, started car, waited a few minutes, backed out, brakes normal, driving forward slowly, brakes normal, was going 30 approaching stop sign, went to brake, pedal was solid. . . Nothing was under the pedal, but felt like there was a brick under the pedal. Obviously I didn't stop, thank goodness no cars were on the road. I slowed down eventually, then pushed extremely hard on the pedal and was able to brake. Then after driving very slowly & testing hard pedal, the pedal acted normal after a few minutes. Normal pedal now. On a separate problem, the transmission has been downshifting on its own, I'm driving along, around 45 mph or so, the transmission is in d, dash light & shifter in d, then every now & then the tach whines, the transmission downshifts & shows a lower gear (like 4 or 2 or 1) in the small black square on the right of the dashboard gear interface. The gear shifter is still in d, but the car is in a different gear. I slow down, then shift into n, then put back to d, then it drives normal again, with nothing in the small black square on the dashboard (next to the gear indicator).

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 11/30/2020

Car last year began randomly displaying vsa code during inclement weather. Took vehicle for diagnostic and report showed aps sensor issues. Replaced acceleration pedal. Car then lost power steering. Replaced pump. Can began having loss of power while using cruise control and steering would stiffen. Yet, only during inclement weather while driving. The engine light with emmisions control warning would display and the clear on its on usually over night. Code diagnostics found possible 02 sensor or catalytic converter issues. Roughly six months later car cut off and wouldn't start replaced rack and pinion during to link at main connection. Car began having starting issues still then not holding charge replace battery twice due to b/s/a reporting pass. About 3 months ago car wouldn't turn over starter was faulty replaced starter. Replaced starter however igintion strained to turn over. To start it began requiring turning car to on then off and immediately to run. Began requesting jump starts. Ran diagnosis at advance auto showed battery issues, starter good and alternator good. Replaced battery and 02 sensor. Can three weeks wouldn't start after driving to the gas station attempted to jump vehicle but didn't work. Called roadside service; however when service arrived vehicle started with no assistance. Took car for diagnosis test and code displayed ecm issues. Car again after cutting vehicle on and attempting to start car up vehicle wouldn't turn over. Attempted to jump start vehicle and still no crank. Left car and returned 2 hours later and was able to jump start vehicle. Acura website I'd showing decals for emc and power steering recalls on 08 Tsx non VIN specific search however my specific VIN isnt included. How do I register my VIN for similar recall issues.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 11/24/2020

A car stop in front of me quickly so I push the brake hard to stop and I heard the abs grinding, so everything fine, I continue driving then I want to stop on the stop sign and I found the brake pedal is not normal I have to push it completely down feels like no brakes I took it to Acura dealer and they flash the brake oil, and I told them what happened they said no air in the abs or the system and its normal but if it happen again you need abs control module the car mileage is 109000 and its all highway miles. Now when I push on the pedal it feels spongy and it goes to the floor. Its kinda scary to drive and the cost of this part installed $4000. For this mileage and this car I think something wrong going on. .

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

No brakes or very stiff brake pedal when below freezing until car warms up. Have had brake fluid replaced and bled multiple times and problem not fixed. Happens every time below 25 degrees and is worse the colder it is.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

When applying firm pressure to the brakes, it responds with a series of rapid vibrations and concomitant clicking noise. I never feel a solid and responsive breaking system. This occurred when I was attempting to slow in ice on a side street in 06 at which time I called Acura to complain. A few days ago, I attempted to avoid hitting the car in front of me while I was rolling after releasing my break from a full stop, so not even any mpgs. This was on a side street, and I don't remember the exact date. It was probably in September 2019. Luckily there was no damage, but I worry that my brakes will never be there when I need them.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 08/30/2019

Car begins braking while accelerating and starts sliding when braking on dry pavement. The other model from this year such as the mdx have a recall for the vsa system however the Tsx does not. The mdx recall from 05 matched the same issues the 05 Tsx has.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 02/23/2019

Power brake booster check valve sticks in cold weather negating power assistance. This came to my attention with seattle's recent cold spell (Feb 2019). Check valve located within master tube assembly (46402-tl2-a11) which is on backorder across all states that experience winter weather. I've spoken to numerous dealers and scouring the internet, this is a common problem. Additionally, I contacted Acura twice and was told follow up would be immediate, with zero response to date.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/31/2019

Whenever the weather drops below freezing, my brakes stop working. The care may work fine for the first block, but fail two or three blocks into a drive. When I try to step on the brake, and it feels frozen -- stuck almost. The only way to stop the vehicle is by using the emergency brake. After a few minutes, of idling the manual brake returns to normal activity. This is extremely alarming -- especially on city roads with numerous pedestrians, students, and other vehicles in close proximity. It is not a normal issue; I never experienced this with another car, and from internet research, it seems that a number of other drivers expressed concern to dealers, the manufacturer, and NHTSA with no outcome. Will it take a casualty or hopefully not a fatality for an investigation/ action?.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/31/2019

My brakes have been defective since I bought the car 4 years ago. If you brake suddenly the car does not stop. If you hit a pothole there is a distinct slipping feeling in the brakes. I have to slow down ahead of time or gently pump the brakes to stop the car. I have taken the car to Acura and to my mechanic who is a certified Honda mechanic. They all said the brakes were fine. Each time I take my car in for service I ask them to check my brakes. They even replaced the brakes, but the problem still happened. On 1/31/19, traffic stopped suddenly in front of me on the freeway and I hit my brakes and the car did not stop, causing me to slam into the car in front of me, and that driver said I pushed her into the car in front of her. Thank god I escaped with only bruised ribs and a sprained thumb. And thank god no one else was injured. My car was totaled. The airbag deployed. It was terrifying.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

In cold weather the brakes feel frozen or wooden, and do not perform correctly. The car will not stop. After using them a few times in a row they seem to return to warm weather performance. It happens again every time the car is driven in cold weather not extreme cold, but just near freezing. It seems to have started early this year. Service people cannot see a cause.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 11/16/2018

Frozen brakes when staring the car, the first pump on the brake works as expected. Then the next 3-5 pumps, the peddle does not go down and has thus the car does not stop. This usually happens when I go to work in the morning. But, it has happened during the afternoon. But most morning, I can guarantee it will happen. It's usually on cold mornings (teens and below) but I'm seeing it now in 30degree weather. I took it to the Acura dealership (Acura of troy, mi) and the service manager greg platz didn't look into it at all. He said they performed the standard 'Acura check' and there were no issues. I provide greg with details on the issues as well as printouts from others who have reported the same issue. All he did was smile and said they did the Acura safefty check and it passed. I'll be sending this info too; the owner and gm of Acura of troy and to Acura corp. (Honda). Here is just 1 thread on the issues: https://acurazine. Com/forums/second-generation-tsx-discussion-2009-2014-143/frozen-brake-pedal-901219/ for your selection on the date of when this happened, I'm adding the service date. But this is on ongoing problem.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 10/22/2018

Re 2006 Acura - letter from constituent requesting assistance in filing a criminal complaint against the parties involved in the matter. The consumer stated the vehicle was fraudulently sold. The vehicle appeared to have been in an accident that was reported, the brakes would squeak, and the codes were cleared before being sold.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/13/2018

When car is started in cold weather, brakes do not work for several minutes. Dealer says there is no issue, and customer service has referred me to dealer.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

In freezing temperatures, my car has an extremely hard brake petal (it seems like there is no power assist)and will not stop the car. As soon as car warms up the brake petal feel comes back and braking returns to normal. I have had this happen 3 times during the dead freezing cold temperatures and went to apply my brakes and I had nothing to stop my car. I was able at each one of those moments in time to move to another lane to avoid hitting a car in front of me. It was very scary to have this happen, and it made me park my car that I paid over 20k in the garage of my home until the warmer weather hit new england. I couldn't of been more angry as I bought the car to drive year round. I contacted Acura of auburn to file complaint to try to find parts to repair this, and they were not able to locate these parts and were of no help at all. This particular issue should be on a recall list of repairs to be done. This is a safety problem and should be addressed accordingly. I have researched this online and have read other owners complaints of the same make and model and they have received no remedy to this issue as well. They were not as fortunate as I was to be able to avoid an accident as they had photos of their vehicles involved in an acccident situation due to this braking problem. I hope this is looked at and a remedy to this situation is offered to all Acura owners dealing with the same issue as myself by the winter months.

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 12/22/2015

The contact owns a 2011 Acura Tsx. When the vehicle was started, the brake pedal was difficult to depress. After the vehicle was warmed up, the brake pedal was able to be depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,400.

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 12/16/2015

When the car sits over night or when it cold the brake pedal will not go down, brake no working for several minutes. Called customer service they said is normal, at three years ago. In 1/31/2019,the day very cold in new york city, I went on the parkway and the car could not brake, because the pedal would not go down. I went to dealer at 2/2/2019, they said they know some vehicle have same problem.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 03/04/2015

I have a 2009 Acura Tsx and when the temperature drops into the single digits (° f) or we have a very cold overnight weather (I'm in western NY) I am experiencing brake issues. I'll start my car, it will run for a few minutes to warm up and I will leave my parking space. Driving about 5-15mph when I first press the brake pedal there is very, very, limited travel, then the pedal just stops (kind of feels like a brick underneath the pedal). I can tell the brakes are not doing anything to stop the car. So naturally my car will slow down to a stop. I press down on the brake pedal again and it's still stuck with very little travel. I'll pump the brakes as best I can a few times and eventually you can feel the pedal soften. I keep doing this as it progressively gets softer and eventually returns to a normal state. As I drive off its fine for usually the rest of the day. It only returns once my car sits outside in overnight cold temperature. This happens very often in cold weather, and only in cold weather. I have read other Acura owners experiencing the same issue.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 02/13/2015

This is the second time this has occurred. The first time was about 3 weeks ago and since it had never occurred before, I believed it to be an anomaly. Second time. . . No longer an anomaly, this car has a breaking problem that is being ignored by Acura. On two occasions now my breaks have failed within the first few minutes of vehicle operation causing me to have to use my emergency break in order to avoid being t-boned by oncoming traffic. When I was approaching the stop sign I attempted to break only to find the break pedal solid and stiff and would not move no matter how hard I pushed. I had no breaks whatsoever. Within a short time after, the breaks started working. Conditions on both occurrences were temperatures below 10 degrees with a negative wind chill and I had not warmed my car up prior to driving it. The second time I was dangerously close to getting t-boned by oncoming traffic on the drivers side. The only reason I was not hit was simply because I had the presence of mind to pull the emergency break. This time I immediately parked the car and called for a tow truck. The vehicle is sitting at a Honda repair shop as there are no Acura dealers close. I contacted Acura and was told there were no service bulletins on this and that the car is out of warranty however a local advocate for my region would call me back on Monday. Today is Friday. Someone needs to investigate this as when I search the forums Tsxclub. Com (breaks fail when cold), there are multiple owners experiencing this issue. There are also cases on this site as well. Acura needs to acknowledge this issue and issue a recall on these vehicles. I cannot imagine what would have happened if this would have happened when my teen driver was behind the wheel.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 12/12/2014

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 10/31/2014

The speed did not go down quickly when I broke. I gassed a little bit, then did break 2-4 seconds genteelly, but the speed did not go down significantly.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

It was 930 at night I was driving my car home to drop off going on vacation . . My car started stalling out and all lights went out. . As I braked my car jumped 3 to 5 feet. . It was like the brakes surged . . Lights flashing . . Very dangerous because if I would of been on my way to work on freeway I could of been in a dangerous accident. . The car did not stop when applied the brake instead it acted like I was pushing the accelator. . . I had to shut car out put in netural and have it pushed in my garage to prevent going through wall. . . I never heard of a alternator doing this. . My car was just at dealership aprox 3 wks before that for a recall . . (stalling ) they said it was not related to that. . .

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 06/05/2014

Traveling approximately 15 mph in stop-and-go traffic on the freeway in los angeles. Weather conditions were dry. No issue regarding visibilty. Front vehicle stopped. Applied brakes to stop, but antilock braking system activated causing the vehicle's brakes to grind and vehicle to glide, rather than abruptly stop, resulting in a rear-end collision. Airbags did not activate. Extensive damage sustained to the front end of the Acura, specifically the grill and headlights causing side-bar damage (estimate indicates $5,000+ damage). Minor damage caused to the rear bumper of the rear-ended vehicle (estimate indciates $1200).

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 03/13/2014

Upon leaving home on a cold March morning, I drove through my complex to the main road. As I approached the first main intersection, the traffic light turned red. When I applied my brake, the pedal would not go down - it was hard to the touch. As my car continued toward - and then into - the intersection, I tried multiple times to apply the brake, until eventually the pedal responded, the brakes engaged, and my car came to a stop. It is now a year later, and my car has done this 3 times. On the day of the first incident, my brakes were inspected and no problems were found. My dealership claimed to have never heard of this issue, and tried to convince me that it could have been my anti-lock brakes engaging. A year passed before the second incident. After consulting with the company tech line, my brake booster was replaced. Two weeks later, it happened a third time. My car is still in the shop awaiting repair. I'm told that the company tech line determined that my dealership should replace the supply line/check valve, but the part is on back-order. As of yet, there is no estimate of completion. No one at Acura has been able to answer my specific questions as to exact cause. They speculate that moisture gets into the line and freezes, but no one can tell me why the brakes will work several times before seizing up and failing. My Acura dealership has no experience in this matter and continues to consult their tech line to determine course of action; however, I am not permitted to speak with anyone at that tech line to attempt to get my questions answered.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

Brake pedal is freezing. Why is this not a recall!? it was a cold morning (3 degrees f). I warmed up the car, left my road and, as I approached the light at the main road, I went to apply the brakes and the brake pedal was like a rock. It wouldn't move. I'd already applied the brakes several times before getting to that point. I looked down at the pedal to see if anything was in the way. With little time to react and the gear shift reading like war and peace in that moment, I threw the car into park to try to reduce the impact as I hit 2 of the cars at the light. I immediately called 911. While on the phone with them, I heard a hissing sound and the brake pedal finally gave way. I phoned the dealer and was told the same thing happened to two other people that day--just from that one dealership. I got nowhere with them because I was out of warranty. I called Acura corporate and they could not have cared less. They asked what I wanted and I said, "I want you to care about why your brake pedal is freezing. " with my car still at the body shop, I phoned the dealer again. They said they think it's a faulty check valve and vacuum line that lets condensation freeze in the line. And guess what? those parts happened to be on a national back order. . . But there's no recall!??? I went to the dealership and met with the general manager, who agreed to provide me with a loaner until the parts came in after the body shop was done with my car. The plan was to drive the car slowly from the body shop to the dealer. But then the body shop called to tell me the brake pedal froze on them as they went to pull it into the garage to work on it (again, it was a cold morning). They didn't feel comfortable letting me drive it so called the dealer on my behalf who agreed to pick it up and tow it to the dealership. It hasn't happened since the repair but it hasn't been that cold.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/04/2014

The brake does not work during winter and morning when it's cold. The pedal gets stiff and does not work. But after 5 mins of engine running or after several steps on pedal the brake works. This was checked in the dealership but service department said it was normal.

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Acura Tsx. The contact stated that while attempting to decelerate, the brake pedal had to be pressed to the floor in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who determined that the anti lock braking system, traction control system, and vehicle stability assist module had malfunctioned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,300. The VIN was not available.

32 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 05/12/2013

Eps steering issues first reported to Acura approximately 250 miles. Hood vibration issues at 3800 miles. Electronic power steering stability tracking issues, automobile cannot be driven in straight line. The eps system in this VIN platform and many other manufacturers has serious & well documented straight line driving and crosswind stability issues due to inherent design and engineering flaws in the eps system as compared to hydraulic steering systems. Passing big rigs traveling in opposite direction on two lane highways, car being pushed excessively toward outside right edge of road due to eps stability tracking issues & entire hood assembly lifting and vibrating vertically about 1" very fast especially at leading edge closest to windshield as if flexing and trying to pull from its hinges and front locking latch. Occurred 5 times on one highway and 4 times on open cross country interstates in crosswinds and accompanied by loud howling sound from hood vibration when winds travel through engine compartment. "flutters" often on open interstate highways when not vibrating violently. Have talked with 4 owners that have experienced same issues. Acura has known of problem for 5 years and issued carefully worded tsb10-103 in April 2009 with cheap "band aide" fix of adding rubber gasket that didn't solve real problem of hood flexibility engineering flaw. Very scary experience when not expecting. Hood is 19 square feet of very flimsy braced sheet metal weighing 42#. If structure detaches while driving at interstate speeds it basically becomes a flying guillotine. Can provide more detailed information on factory body weld assembly issues, hood vibration issues and eps issues but character limitations on this form will not allow space.

33 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 11/23/2012

I was very surprised to hear that my rear brakes needed replacement after only 24,800 miles. I had only taken my car in for the normal oil changing and tire rotation. My normal daily commute is to and from work totaling 50 miles, with the occasional short stop at a grocery store. When my husband questioned Acura if there were any complaints or recalls about the premature wearing of 2010 Tsx brakes, they stated they hadn't heard anything. (I had previously owned a Honda accord and I had similar problems with the brakes on that car as well. ) so my husband and I decided to look the information up online and there seems to have been a class action lawsuit filed indicating that certain Honda and Acura year models had complaints of premature wear on brakes. Apparently in the settlement you can submit your information and receipt to the settlement administrator and receive up to $150 back for the replacement of the new brakes. When I called the settlement administrator to verify that my car was included in this reimbursement settlement, I was informed, to my disappointment, that my car did not qualify. It seems that several people have had similar problems with premature brake wear and yet they only marked certain cars for replacement? evidently this is an ongoing problem with these certain year models and Acura should stand behind their product and replace the brakes without the customer having to go through the surprise and cost of replacing their brakes prematurely. Apparently the only way a recall will be made or anyone will take this problem seriously is if someone is badly injured or even killed when their brakes do not respond or respond improperly. If Acura/Honda does not address this issue, with the safety of its customers in mind, my husband and I will have to seriously contemplate doing business with a different company altogether.

34 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 05/29/2012

When I took my car in for maintenance last year (9/11) they mentioned that at my next service visit I may need brakes. I was astounded given the low mileage and the fact that all my past cars never needed brakes this soon. The car was only two years old. I recently took my Tsx in for b12 service (5/12) which cost over $400. I could not believe that I would need replacement brakes so did not authorize it. I only have 25,000 miles. The service representative claimed it was my driving style. Everyone said it was just the dealership advising unnecessary work. The next day after service my left rear wheel started to squeal. When they removed the tires for the b12 service they evidently put the defective pad back on incorrectly. That day, I mentioned my brake issue to a friend and they informed about the defect and the class action suite. Of course the service reps knew all along and never took responsibility. They could have offered me a discount on the brakes and explained the issue they were having with the 2009 Tsx brakes. This could be a serious safety issue. Additionally, I noticed a rust spot on my passenger side below the door their year (4/12). I have had no accidents. I thought with modern metals and paints this issue no longer existed. Particularly with a new car and a Acura. Once again they blamed me and said it was my responsibility. There must have had a "impact". None that was visible of course.

35 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 07/15/2011

After driving for about 30 minutes the brake pulsate so bad the vehilcle doean't want to stop. Acura is blaming the driver and is making me drive to the original dealership 120 miles one way to have the problem fixed. After doing a goolge search. This seems to be a big problem for Acura Tsx owners.
