1 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 12/10/2017

When the car is started for the first time of the day--especially in cold weather: symptom: noise during start for a second or two. Info: sound comes from the (timing chain?) cover on the left top side of the engine--looking from the bumper. Called Acura dealer and mentioned items I had read about---stretched/loose tensioner (pressurized with oil?), stretched timing chain, vtc actuator---he said yes,yes,---tensioner and timing chain would be changed, I cannot remember what he said about the vtc actuator. Another Acura dealer indicated it is the vtc actuator is the issue. Called Acura consumer relations who noted they could not help. This problem seems to be well known among Acura owners on various websites. I do not think this should be happening at 82k miles. Note the warranty is for 72k. Note it has happened for almost a year; below I have noted one day it happened.

2 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2004 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

I took my 04 Acura Tsx in for a electronic recall of the radio dash light. This required a new circuit board. During that same visit I got my transmission fluid flushed. A week after the service was done my check engine light came on. I took my care to the shop immediately. Was told my "timing chain tensioner" has gone bad and the replacement would cos $1,600 +. My car only had 64k miles and very well maintained. I did some online research and found many others with this problem on cars with low miles (50k to 65k miles). This is very disappointing that I have a Honda product and it requires $1600 worth of repairs with this low of miles. Finding many others online with the same problem makes me think this should be some sort of recall on the manufactures part. Please help.
