Engine And Engine Cooling Problems of Audi A3 - part 2

I bought a brand new 2. 0 Audi A3 from the dealer this may. I got a low oil warning with only 2700 miles on the car, and the oil is dark and dirty compare to the loner car I got. It has been three times I brought my car back to the service department in the dealer, but they never solved the problem. First time, they toped up the oil. After two weeks, the oil was low again, so I brought it back. This time, they changed a new oil tank cap for me, but two weeks later, the oil was low. I drove it back to the service, this time actually the Audi company told me that is because my car is still in break-in period and just topped up the oil again. But as an engineer, I know it cannot be 2 qt per 1000 miles.

Air conditioning unit went out.

An interruption of motive power . The dash gear position indicator (prnds) flashing.

Fuel pump imploded and sent shrapnel throughout the entire fuel system. Everything had to be replaced.

Car would not go into gear, transmission froze up. All the gear lights were flashing prnd. Had to have it towed to dealer. They stated that the megatronic transmission module had to be replaced and the part needed to come from europe.

I was driving and the car wouldnt shift into 3rd gear so I was holding up traffic and struggled to get the car back home. I was told by dealer today I had two bad coils and the megatronic which controld the transmision was going out. I heard 2006 models had a recall on the megatronic but not 2007. I cant believe I need to spend $2500 on anew megatronic for a car that has less than 70k miles and I spent 4290 today for diagnostic, plugs, and coils. The previous 2002 Audi a4 I had had the same problem with the coils but they eventually issued the campaign and reimbursed me for the coils.

This complaint relates to a tdi version of the Audi A3. While driving my kids to school, the car stopped dead and would not restart. On inspection by an Audi dealer it was determined that the high pressure fuel pump had failed. The pump failure caused metal particles from the pump itself to circulate in the fuel system doing catastrophic damage to the fuel system and power train. As of this date, the car has been in the shop for repair longer than two weeks with no estimated date of completion. We experienced a similar catastrophic fuel pump failure with our Audi q7 tdi in June of 2012 which required a new engine, fuel system and other parts (see odi # 10480946). According to the dealer, the reason for the delay in repairing the A3 relates to the large number of cars with similar fuel system failures which has caused a scarcity of parts. We have been told by the dealer that this same problem is happening to tdi vehicles from both Volkswagen and Audi. I am no engineer, but widespread fuel system failures seem potentially dangerous to drivers and their passengers. This problem deserves an investigation.

While driving on local roads, engine lost power and stopped running suddenly. I was able to restart the car after a minute or so and continued my trip to work. Car is an automatic and the engine just quit like a manual left in gear at a stop sign. . . A shudder then nothing. Not sure if relevant, but I could only restart the car after completely turning it off and removing the key.

Engine warning light appears on instrument panel on and off. Dealer states its a "intake runner motor". This started within 10,000 after warranty ran out at 55k. Dealer suggests replacement before failure.

Loss of power and dtc p2293, p0087 in ecm caused by premature wearing of the camshaft follower that drives the high pressure fuel pump. The dtc are referenced in NHTSA item 10025965, and service bulletin number 15-08-05. The camshaft wears through and damages the fuel pump. Outside investigation has determined that this premature wear is caused by an improperly hardened camshaft. This is a manufacturing problem affecting a large number Audi and vw vehicles utilizing the 2. 0 engine.
