Other Fuel System Problems of Audi A3 - part 2

2017 Audi A3 sedan- with around 47,000 miles -stalled out in drive thru and at a red light intersection. Twice. Almost got in 2 accidents while driving once on the highway and once on a city road. Engine light on dash was blinking. Code reader initially was reading p0300, p0301 and p0302 . . Multiple cylinder misfires. Towed car to Audi, and they did complete maintenance service. Ran codes and now all of the sudden it need a new transmission and the code is p0172 bank 1 system too rich. I noticed there was a recall for the the engine control unit (ecu) software and which can affect air / fuel mixture which makes me think that this recall was probably the cause, because po172 code can be due to the air/ fuel mixture getting too far from factory specs. My car has been at the dealership for 6 weeks, the transmission was finally replaced by Audi but they are still saying that I need a new fuel canister (there was a recall for this in 2016, and my car was manufactured in 2016 but is a 2017 model) ? I have seen several other 2017 Audi A3 sedan owner complaints having this issue with very similar problem on this website and other websites. I was under warranty until 1/25/2021, but I live 2 hours away and I was under quarantine so booked appointment locally (I think on 1/22/2021 with Volkswagen but scheduling was a week out and on appointment date their entire service department was out because of covid outbreak by that time it was too late even though I have a time and date stamped video of the car having issues.

I was driving on NJ turnpike on a 75 mile trip back home and after into 55 miles of the trip, the vehicle completely lost power. . I was going about 65 miles or so and it was extremely scary and dangerous. With the grace of god, I was able to use the momentum to make it to a side lane between the travel lanes and merge lane off of the ramp, the are car lost so much power and trying to maneuvering around traffic that I was not even able to make it to the safety side lane. The car has to be towed to the exit. Audi took it to their local dealer. The car is a 2019 model with 12946 miles on the odometer. The vehicle was towed to Audi dealer in freehold NJ and I understand from the tow driver that day before same make and model, year of another similar vehicle with the exact same problem has been towed to Audi in edison NJ.

When driving off after starting the vehicle, the car starts jerking and �knocking� and stalls/turns off. This happens almost everyday as I reverse out of my drive way and drive forward. Extremely unsafe! does not show check engine light or any other lights.

The check engine light illuminated and has not been able to properly diagnose. More than one mechanic has told me the code p0171 that reads as the diagnostic does not correlate with my car as my car does not have a pcv valve. They have inspected the car to look for similar issues and have found none. Yet the check engine light remains illuminated. There was a recall reported 09/30/2009 on my type of car under campaign 09v377000 but my VIN is not showing as affected by that campaign even though the code that is coming up is a similar issue. I am extremely concerned about the safety of driving my car now. I can't not repair what I can not diagnose. I believe that I am affected by the recall.

My car after starting (with engine either cool or warm) will stall at times when I'm going2-3 mph. I have stalled at intersections. I go to put my foot on the gas and the car will sputter and stall. It will then restart with a little difficulty though starts back up. There are no icons that illuminate on the dashboard with any problem. There are no check engine lights or battery lights that are going off.

Car stalls after running, stalls at intersections. No warning lights show on the dash and restart is not immediate. Last event was in city stopped at stop sign, stalled when attempted to accelerate. Same symptoms as in recall 17v508000. This has happened no fewer than 20 times over the last 2 years. Today's date documented today.

"under inflated left front tire" message came on. Took it to Audi service center in gainesville, FL. After checking the tires, the engine would not start. After several attempts it started but kept stalling. They ordered a n290 valve and replaced it, still have same problem and no warning messages. They contacted Audi headquarters yesterday, but have not resolved the problem. Waiting to hear from them.

Twice I have experienced the random loss of power. The first time occurred on a local street, driving approximately 40 mph, and all of a sudden the vehicle stuttered and lost power. It appeared as if the vehicle was slowing down, not even coasting but slowing down considerably. I was required to pull onto a side road. I restarted the car and the issue disappeared. The second time occurred on the highway driving in the left lane at approximately 70 mph. Same issue, car stuttered and then loss power. The car's speed slowed considerable fast, from 70 to 30 in apprximately 5-7 seconds. With the inability to accelerate on a three lane highway, it was difficult to make my way to the shoulder on the right side of the road. After the stutter, you can press the gas pedal and not acceleration is experienced. I did not notice any warning lights on the instrument panel. Brought the vehicle to Audi to address this issue, and their response was "we don't see any fault codes, therefore we have no record of it happening", and sent me off with a "good luck" vehicle had apprximately 12,000 miles and 15,000 miles when issues occurred. All dealer recommended maintanence was performed.

Reading my e-mail notification from NHTSA I found that the recall no. 17v-509 issued to vwgoa may affect and apply to our car (Audi A3 my 2004 engine 2. 0 fsi) since it has the same failed part on its structure (1k0 906 093 f). Checking the engines list originally on the recall report from August 16th 2017 I've found the same part number installed in our car and even form the same supplier (kuhnke automotive gmbh). It's not a new car but considering it's a potential failure to occur while the car is running since the installed part number is the same, the risk of a vehicle crash is present accordong to the declaration in the safety recall report. How should I contact Audi in mexico or USA to ask for the necessary investigation or actions? of course it0's out of warranty period but the risk could be present in my car.

I bought a cpo 2016 A3 1. 8t from Audi of palo alto on may 20, 2017 with a little under 19100 miles. Great fast car. Until June 17, 2017 when it had 19878 miles. The car started to stutter/sputter/jerk while on the fwy. I was going about 50-60mph on the fwy, cruising, and then it stuttered. It lost the power to accelerate to keep up the fwy pace and it slowed down considerably so I pulled over. I had it towed to the nearest dealer (Audi of concord). It was there from 6/17 to 6/29. Dealer said it had a faulty turbo, stating the wastegate failed, so they replaced the entire turbo. I got the car back with about 20072 miles, so apparently they did some road tests. Yesterday, July 3, 2017, while picking up some gifts for my daughter's birthday, the issue came back again. This time, my wife and 2 small children were in the car. We were cruising around 60-65 mph. It was scarier as I had to think for their safety first and foremost. Imagine a car that suddenly lost acceleration power on the freeway at around 6:30pm. We easily could have gotten rear-ended. Anyway, I researched on Audi's reliability and did read on some comments about how lousy they are. I gambled and decided to buy one anyway. Boy did I lose big. At this point, I'd rather have a kia or chevy.

Loss of power at any time without warning the car will lose power while in motion, on a highway, just driving down a street or turning. Almost rear ended several times.

Check engine/ epc- both lights have signaled a dozen times. The first few times the dealership called them "misfires". Eventually the car "symptoms" started to progress: when car is idling, car starts to act like it is about to stall. Then it progressed to hard/jerky shifts into 1st or 2nd gear. Now even at higher speeds it starts acting up- giving the feeling that the car may stall. This is a daily issue. Twice now car has failed to accelerate while entering highway. The worst situation occurred when car was bucking and refusing to go into 2nd gear. I had to pull over, on the on-ramp, turn off car and restart. Dash lights fade light/dark constantly. Originally I thought it was an automatic feature, going from day to night time lights. Like everything else it has increased w/ frequency & cannot be connected to change day/night light setting change. Key fob died while I was driving on highway, car stalled on highway. I restarted car using emergency procedure (aligning key fob next to key symbol on drive shaft)- this is meant to keep car running even w/ dead key battery. Car shut off multiple times waiting for tow truck- who then loaded my car while running because it stalled on him too. Did I mention the 4 days prior my car had been at the dealership - so either warning sign didn't correctly notify or they just ignored it. Fixed ignition coil, spark plugs current dealership diagnostic: fault to bad injector somehow none of the recalls that apply to 2015 A3s apply to my vehicle. Even though most of the decriptions apply to car issues.

I purchased this vehicle for my 18 year old daughter as a parent you want to have you child as safe as possible. The vehicle is anything but safe. As a matter of fact it's an accident waiting to happen. Or worst a fatality. The vehicle while driving just turns off. It wasn't even a month into owning the brand new vehicle that issues started to arise. While reversing out of a parking spot, the vehicle stopped without any warning. About 4 weeks later, while entering the expressway,once again the vehicle without warning completely turn off. By a miracle of god my daughter did not get into an accident. A very dangerous situation as many other vehicles are driving at high speeds. On 3/31/17 the vehicle was take to the collection,where they could not tell me exactly what the problem was since they themselves had no clue. But they did tell me that there was definitely a problem since when they connected the vehicle to the computer it gave sporadic error codes. I was told that Audi corporate office was contacted and they advised the collection to inspect the fuel system and hose, electrical wiring, and vehicle program all of which I was told was done. On 4/27/17 another incident occurred. While at a traffic light, making a left hand turn, the vehicle stopped. The vehicle behind my daughter was also turning right behind her and almost rear ended her since even the brake lights were not working t. In the middle of the traffic intersection, the vehicle was not responding to the shifting of gears or to the accelerator. At this point that vehicle was not responding at all leaving my daughter stranded in the middle of oncoming cars and agitated drivers around her. The collection had the vehicle towed back to their shop where it has been ever since. No one, not even Audi's corporate head engineer has been able to figure out what is wrong with the vehicle.

We received two safety recalls from Audi: NHTSA recall #16v647 and #16v642. We were informed by Audi that the service would have to be completed by an authorized Audi dealer. The closest Audi dealer is in honolulu, which would require us to ship our car from maui. Given this was an Audi recall, it was my expectation that they would either pay the costs or authorize the work to be done on maui by the vw dealer, which is one of Audi's sister companies. Neither recall has been completed as of today. Since these are safety recalls, I would fully expect Audi to pay for all costs as well as the inconvenience of not having a car for at least a week, due to inter-island shipping schedules. Although Audi claims they would consider compensating us for out of pocket costs, based on a recent repair that is covered by our warranty, I do not trust that Audi will compensate us. On April 25, 2017, the passenger seat belt and air bag alert lights lit up for no reason. The owner's manual said that when both lights are on, the owner should get the car to a technician immediately. We had the car evaluated and repaired by the local vw dealer, paying for it out of pocket. On may 1, I contacted Audicare to get understand the reimbursement process. I was told to send in the work order and proof of payment and they would process it under the warranty coverage. The case number they assigned us is case number 170475720. Copies are attached. Today, may 8, I called Audi to confirm receipt and was informed that they are not going to compensate us. Their reasoning is that because the work was not done by an Audi technician, they would not pay for the cost. However, given this was a safety issue related to a faulty airbag sensor, we had to get the car to a technician immediately. Given this was a safety related issue, there was no way we could ship the car to an Audi dealer anyway.

My Audi car hasnt been running well. I went to my dealership and no sense of urgency regarding this matter, was told they will call me when they have it but "I should be fine". I left my car at the dealership for an oil change 11. 11. 16 but doesnt fix the recall "saftey recall 20y5 suction pump" . This recall not getting fixed is putting my safety at risk.

2nd time this has happened in just a few days. I want to start documenting every time this has happened. I was pulling into fast moving traffic from a side street. I was making a left hand turn and the car hesitated putting me into the way of on coming traffic at 50 mph. This was very dangerous because I was accelerating trying to reach 50 mph could have been rear ended only going about 10 mph.

From a stopped position on a side street in a left hand turn lane I stepped on the gas pedal and the car started to move then immediately had a loss of power in making a left hand turn onto a major street. The car lurched forward then hesitated. It is really dangerous because it can surprise people and cause cars to crash into me. It has done this a few other times. I feel given the right circumstances this could cause an accident.

A-recall suction pump smell inside car leak vap system gas a-recall side marker lights.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Audi A3. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the head lights would suddenly shut off and the service vehicle sensor light would display. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered that a fuse panel had over heated and melted. The contact also indicated that the vehicle had experienced fuel leaking with in the engine compartment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 75,000. Jft.

Total loss of power while car was in motion. Unable to restart.

The car lost power while moving in highway traffic. Totally loss of power. Unable to restart.

I was driving along the NY state thruway in albany at 65-70 miles an hour. I realized I was unable to accelerate and saw that the glow plug light was flashing. I slowed down and tried to move over to the right, but as I slowed, the car stalled and I was in the middle lane. I was in the middle lane with cars passing me on either side and I was unable to restart my car. It was so scary. I couldn't get out, I was alone. I didn't know what to do, I felt my life was in danger, unable to get out of my car. I got myself together enough to call aaa. They called the police to help me with traffic. I was pushed to the side of the road dodging cars and trying not to get hit. Aaa came 1 hour later; it was 12:00pm, hot and humid on the labor day holiday! they towed me to the nearest Audi dealer which was 20 miles away. I had to pay for the extra miles. I am 3 hours from home with no idea what I am going to do. My daughter had to come pick me up and drive me back home. Now my car is in albany and I am in massachusetts. I don't know what is wrong with my car or how I am going to get my car back. This was a very scary, unacceptable incident!.

2010 tdi Audi A3. Upon acceleration the car hesitated and the engine started jerking. The "glow plug" light started blinking then the car started loosing power and came to a stop. Could not restart. Had the car towed to mechanic who told me to have it towed to dealership that it was a manufacturer problem. Had it towed to dealership which told me that I had put bad diesel in it and it caused metal particales to circulate in the fuel system doing catastrophic damage. Everthing that the diesel had touched would have to be replaced. I told dealership that I only use diesel from there list of "good" diesel stations. They want to charge me $7,345 to fix. If they put the same parts back in it to repair it, what if it happens again???? I have had this car serviced by the book - this should not have happened. There should be a recall on this. This needs investigating.

Car would not go into gear, transmission froze up. All the gear lights were flashing prnd. Had to have it towed to dealer. They stated that the megatronic transmission module had to be replaced and the part needed to come from europe.

While driving in seattle's notorious stop and go traffic, my A3 tdi, has stalled. It acts as if I have "dropped" the clutch, which is impossible being an automatic!!. This has happened to me on two occasions. There is less than 5k miles on my new car. Both time it has gone immediately into university Audi. First time, no answers. Still waiting on diagnostics from today's episodes.
