Fuel sending unit malfunction on 2000 Audi A4. Affects sedan and avant models. Results in fuel gauge reading approximately 1/4 tank lower than actual fuel level. Note: a6 model has been recalled for this issue, and over 50 A4 owners have informed me (via web) that they experience this problem, but Audi has not issued a recall for the A4, despite admitting that it uses the same sending unit components.

The vehicle has been to the dealer four times to fix the gas gauge. Gauge will read 1/2 full, and the tank is empty, which will cause the vehicle to cut off.
