1 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2013 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/02/2013

New Audi A4, 10 days old 800 km. Driving about 40mph on two lane highway, hit minor bump. The front passenger tire collapsed, smoked and there was complete separation of tread and sidewall. Incident occurred on a dangerous curve where there was no shoulder and lots of traffic. Fortunately no accident or injury but could have been disastrous.

I have a set of nexen n5000 tires. These were bought on 01/02/2009 and installed in the same month. The tires both have cracks around the sidewall. One is worse than the other but both are cracking in the same area. They are also not holding air as well as before. The information on the tires is. . . Dot 8eol bebr 4508 e4 0236273.

3 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2005 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/31/2009

I bought 4 bf goodrich traction t/a's from big o tires in san ramon, CA for my 2005 Audi A4 2. 0t, and within a year (12,000 miles) the front two were showing cracks in the sidewall, one of which into the cords. That tire got replaced immediately. The assistant manager at big o, james, told me "it happens all the time", and "probably from rubbing against curbs". He thought the one that just had surface cracking around and no damage to the cords was okay to not replace "should be fine". One and a half months and one freeway blowout later, it's obvious the tires were all bad for some reason. The back two: one now showing same sidewall cracks and the other one blew out. Front one not replaced is more pronounced. The blowout had the tread fully separated from the sidewall. James, when I came back to find out what could be done about these clearly defective tires, spent most of his time trying to refute there was a problem and even tried to argue that they were the wrong tire for the car (a stupid argument for multiple reasons, including that they sold them to me and that their website still recommends it for my car. . . . He calls to their "tech center" to prove his point, only to find out he was wrong. . . What a waste of time). Needless to say there was no mention or concern about my family's safety; a business that should make customer safety the #1 priority should at least say something like "was everyone okay", or "I'm sorry to hear you had something so bad happen". Instead it was just james trying to find ways of brushing it off, just like he did a month and a half earlier, when a frightening freeway blowout could have been avoided perhaps if someone who both knew tires and cared about a customers safety had checked them out instead of these dangerous crooks. These tires were clearly defective, and I hope the NHTSA can help determine if this was a one-time event, or if there is an ongoing safety issue with these tires. Thank you.

4 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 11/03/2007

A young lady purchased an Audi A4, two of the supplied tires developed bubbles in less than 1 year. She returned to the dealer, who refused to replace them. She then had the tires replaced at a discount tire dealership at her expense. The supplied tires on her Audi were continental brand, size2354517. This seems to me to be a bad problem, and Audi should have taken care of it.

5 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/09/2006

Bubbles in pirelli p6 all season tires after 6000 miles of use, normal driving.

6 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 04/11/2005

Am the owner of a 2004 Audi a-4 equipped with pirelli p-6 p235/45 r-17 tires. These tires are original equipment and the vehicle. At approximately 12000 miles the rear driver's side tire developed a large sidewall bubble. This tire was immediately replaced. Now a week later and approximately 300 more miles, the same problem has developed at the driver"s side front tire.

7 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/31/2004

I am the owner of a 2004 Audi a-4 equipped with pirelli p-6 p235/45 r-17 tires. These tires are original equipment and the vehicle was purchesed from bell Audi of rahway, NJ. At approximately 3000 miles the rear right tire developed a large sidewall bubble. This tire was immediately relpaced with the full size spare (same type, model and rim). Calls to the dealership, Audi, USA and pirelli were met with limited information and assistance at best. In substance, I was told there was nothing they could / would do about this problem. Now a approximately 6000 miles (3000 on the replacement), the same problem has developed at the right rear tire. Calls once again are apparently falling upon deaf ears. Undoubtably we have a safty issue here (as indicated by several other complaints lodged by other owners of p-6 tires) which is being ingnore by the tire manufacturer as well as Audi, USA and its dealers. In view of the lack of response, and more importantly the safety issue, I'll be forced to replace all of these obviously defective tires on my vehicle at my own expense. I'm requesting that the NHTSA make further inquiries into this matter. I will also be very willing to provide my defective tires to the NHTSA, or any other independent agency, for testing, etc. Furthermore, if the NHTSA, other governmental agencies, complaintants, owners, dealers, consumer groups, are interested in pursuing legal recourse please contact me as I am more than willing to assist in entering into a class action suit against pirelli, Audi, etc. I am egerly awaiting your response. Thank you.

9 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/22/2004

2004 Audi A4 with pirelli 94v m+s tires with 3754 miles delivered to us on April 15, 2004 had one tire that ripped apart at the sidewall. Luckily no damage or injury. Clearly the tires are defective. Are there reports concerning these tires? I wish to submit an complaint as the tires are dangerous and liable to cause injuries or death.

10 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/16/2004

Not sure if this is the correct site to report this, but new Audi 4a with pirelli p6 4 season 235/45/17 94v tires and 4000 miles experienced front driver and passenger side wall failures with no apparent reason. Web review indicates that there are multiple reports of this same situation in new cars without apparent precipitating event such as curb or pot holes. Bubbles only but this suggests to me a possible manufacturing defect in this batch of tires.

11 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 06/04/2004

Concern with pirelli tire model p235/45r17-pirelli p6. - I have a total of 28,000 miles on an Audi A4. I have had two blowouts and three tires that have needed to be replaced. Specifically, the sidewalls of the tires bubble out in weak spots. Last week my wife was driving my car and got a flat on the sidewall, and I noticed when fixing her tire that now another one of the tires has a bubble. I will once again have to replace two tires. I believe this is a dangerous problem that could result in loss of control of a vehicle. I am not a high performance driver. I drive for work and family related matters only so this problem is not related to excessive driving speeds or harsh handling. I am following this complaint with a complaint directly to pirelli and to Audi of America. If desired I can forward a digital photo of the typical bubble. Bruce hendee.

12 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/01/2004

The contact stated all four original tires had blow outs between 3/1/04 and 12/1/05. After each blow out, the tires were replaced at the contact's expense. The first blow out occurred when the contact hit a pot hole at approximately 60 mph. The second blowout occurred immediately after the contact hit a bump in the road at 40 mph. The third occurred when hitting a pot hole at an undetermined speed. The last blow out happened when hitting a pot hole at 40 mph. In two of the incidents the wheel was also damaged. Every tire appeared to have sidewall damage. The tires were regularly serviced. The vehicle manufacturer indicated there was no warranty for road hazards. Updated 02/07/06.

13 Tire Sidewall problem of the 1997 Audi A4

Failure Date: 11/19/2000

At 31700 miles I noticed a bulge in the sidewall of the left front tire. I replaced both front tires with the identical brand. At 41239 miles, I again noticed a large bulge in the left front tire in the sidewall. I again will have the tires replaced before I have a blow-out. I have read other reviews on this tire and it seems many others have experienced the same problem. It could be quite hazardous if I didn't catch the problem before driving at highway speeds. (tiresize: p205 55 16)( dot number: tire size: p205 55 16 ).
