Tire Tread/belt Problems of Audi A4

While driving on interstate at normal speed the tire pressure light for the driver rear came on. There was no road debris or road hazard material present. On exiting the tire was going flat . The car was placed on the jack and removed and noted tread separation and protruding steel belt wiring . The steel belt wiring protruded through the tread in several places up to several inches away from site of the tread separation and exposed steel belt material . There was probably 10000 miles on this tire. The tire was purchased from the Audi dealer in charleston , SC. The dealer was 100 % unhelpful in requesting help with having pirelli inspect this tire for its structural failure. I have had multiple emails with pirelli and they have been unhelpful with my request for them to examine this tire failure. I feel there is a manufacturing defect that needs to be evaluated . 245/40 r18 97h m+s I have the tire at home for inspection. The photos do not show the protruding steel belt wires well.

I own a 2005 Audi A4 with goodyear rs-a 235/45/17 tires. The tires have been used for under 23,000 miles and were the original tires on the car. At under 23,000 miles, the front tires are completely worn and the rear tires are a few hundred miles from reaching the tread line. Brought them to goodyear dealer who says this is common and would not offer warranty. Common for tires to wear out at 23,000 miles?.

My car was taken to a local body shop on 4/4/2007 for what we thought was a steering problem. I found out however, that on one of my front tires the tread had completely separated on 50% of the tire! it was the continental 205/60r15 touring contact. I had them replace it with a contipro contact of the same size. Three weeks later, my other front tire separated on at least 40% of the tire, with a huge bulge. The tires are less than a year old, with less than 8,000 miles on them! both of the failing tires caused severe steering problems, and both had to be replaced. The incidents came upon very rapidly, and was very unsafe to drive on.

: the contact stated while driving 55 mph on a clear dry highway with smooth pavement, a loud noise was heard and a large section of tread was seen trailing behind. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the highway. On inspection of the tires, it was discovered that the right rear tire had failed. The center tread/belt section of the tire had separated. The service dealer and manufacturer were not notified.

3 of 4 bridgestone potenza re-950 tires, size 235/45/r17 93h tires have experienced delamination of the tread on the inside wear edge; alignment on my Audi A4 has been verified to meet manufacturer spec, yet the inside edges of the tires have broken open to expose layers of tire and the integrity of the tire has been breached. In one case, a 8 inch by 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch section completely gave way and flew off the tire. These tires were discontinued by bridgestone and I now know why. I replaced all 4 tires with bridgestone g09's and I have not had this problem reoccur. Note, system will not accept Audi A4 as vehicle type, so I used Toyota; I do have a 3. 0l A4 quattro.

After about 25,000 miles of driving the tread on two of my bf goodrich g-force ta kdws tires is separating from the tire. One tire (which was my front left) has two areas of separation and one area just showing signs of starting to separate. The areas of separation are about 4"-6" long and 12"-15" long. . Read more...

Treads separated on both front left and front right tires along on inside edge of each while driving on interstate 93 in nh. One threw cord, the other showed separation upon examination. Dealer [lakes region Audi, gilford nh] checked inflation, at 31. 2 and 31. 4lb (recommended pressure is 32lb). Moderate tread wear (4/32in left?) after 30k mi. Dealer also performed re-alignment after new tires were installed, but found no serious problem (minor toe-in adj). This car is driven mostly in washington DC where it has been very hot recently, but these are temperature category a tires. Same failure on both front tires at same time suggests a possible manufacturing defect.

While driving, rear passenger tire blewout without warning. Mechanic stated tread was separating because of a bad alignment. Body shop that did the alignment gave a print out of the alignment with statistics. . Consumer stated the back rear tire was worn out on the inside and outside tread of the tire, all tires have since been replaced.
