"intermittent headlight malfunction. Over the course of a year of ownership, the headlights have malfunctioned (turned off), with no consistent cause apparent. The specific error message that appears in the driver information screen is "left (or right) headlight dipped". This condition is both unsafe, and illegal - as many states will issue a traffic violation for driving with a non-functioning headlight. It has happened approx. 40 times, the headlight flickers, then goes out, but will come back on when the car is restarted or clear if the headlight is turned off then back on. It will then be fine for days or weeks at a time. It has been consistently getting more frequent and worse. At times, both headlights will turn off by themselves while driving causing a very dangerous situation and quick action to avoid injury or death. Then randomly turn back on. Multiple dealerships have been notified of the problem on at least 3 visits, and has claimed that everything is fine and they can not reproduce. They have suggested/guessed that it is the xenon light bulb itself, or ballast. Annecdotal evidence (conversational, and via internet owners' forums) suggests that the problem is widespread among a substantial portion of Audi's model range and years. ".

The left headlight of my 2006 Audi A4 quattro has this annoying -- and dangerous -- problem: 1. The left headlight flickers 2. It then turns itself off 3. The message "left dipped headlight" appears 4. The message is changed to a sign indicating that the lightbulb has failed. If I turn the light off (note: we're talking about driving at night here) and turn it back on again, the light will become normal again, for about a few minutes and then the cycle repeats itself. This problem is intermittent. It has been occurring a lot recently with the cold weather. I can't tell for sure whether it is temperature related. My Audi dealer said that Audi knows about this problem but doesn't know how to fix it -- changing the light bulb doesn't solve the problem.
When driving with the headlights on one or both intermittently go out. A "headlight dipped" message appears on the drivers display. If you cycle the switch the problem resolves until the next incident. This problem happens at various times and sometimes not at all. Apparently Audi has no idea why or how to fix. This seems like an obvious design fault and warrants a recall-fix.
My Audi a 4 convertible headlight lenses deteriorated so badly that it significantly affected my night driving. Plastic became cloudy (not condensation) and gray, adversely affecting the headlight effectiveness.

The problem that I have is when it rains. All four doors fill with up water. When I open any door a quart or more pours out of each door, door sills are always wet. In the winter, water freezes on the door sills and can't open door or have trouble (can't drive the car if I can't get in it!) took the car to the dealer to get it fixed. They told me the car is to Audi spec. 's and did nothing! called Audi customer relations and they are doing nothing and also I have been waiting for a manager to return my phone call for a week now. I have left several messages, still no return phone call (great Audi severce!). From this water damage the mirrors are not responding to their hold positions and I'am also afaid from all the moister in the doors that the electronics we start to corrosion process and who pays for that in the long run? I would think the least they could have replaced the weather stripping around all the doors. My Audi is 6 months old with 1800 miles, four doors rusting away, and the dealership and Audi wants to do nothing about it. I even showed them the rust at bottom of doors. What happens when the ice builds up so much and can't get out of the car, is this a safty issue? I'm just tired of getting my shoes and feet wet getting into a $40,000 car, then have to go get changed, but for some reason this is ok? I just never owned a vehicle in which water is allowed to get into the car's door before. I would like to meet the engineer who designed this feature!.
