The instrument cluster has gone out and there is no way to read the important messages that come across it. I. E. Low fuel, temp or coolant or engine, brake problems, washer fluid . . . . I feel something needs to be done on this part!!.

Center display lcd panel in instrument cluster fades out particularly in warm weather and the information it provides cannot be read. Since some of the information shown in this display is important for safe operation of vehicle the failure of the display to be adequately legible is a safety hazard.

The led portion of the instrument cluster fades out on hot days making the gear selection indicator (prnd321) shown in the display unreadable. This is a safety issue because the driver needs to know what gear that transmission is in at all times and a fading display leads the driver to guess rather than know. This fading started three years ago and has gotten progressively worse with time. It only happens on hot days when the car is parked or driven in the sun. We have lots of sunny days in California!.

My information led cluster in my dash fades out when it gets warm. This cluster is responsible for displaying gear information (p,r,n,d,4,3,2,1) as well other safety and informational messages. It is a hazard to drive or shift into gear when you are not sure if it is reverse or drive as well as any safety information the car would need to display.
This is about my 2000 Audi A6. The central display lcd on the instrument cluster failed to display any information including important warnings such as coolant level, engine temperature, engine oil pressure, brake/ turn lights out, gear position etc. All are important to driving safety. I once had leakage in my radiator but I could not see the warning of dropping water level and that caused damage to my engine and water pump and I was burned when checking engine. It almost caused a accident because it stopped my car in the middle of the high way. As far as I know, almost every Audi a4/a6 in between 1998-2004 model year had the same display problem.
