Tire Blowout Problems of Audi A6

I went to my repair shop for an oil change. When the car was up in the air the technician was alarmed at my passenger front tire. We looked at it and the tire had actually caved in with wear along the inside edge of the tread to the point where it had separated and the steel belts were showing. The rest of the tire tread was normal. The front wheels have less than a degree of negative camber. I have not noticed any pulling one way or the other to indicate misalignment. The shop put my spare on the pasenger front, but the driver front is also beginning to show the same pattern. Before I buy new tires I want to find out why this happened so it doesn't happen again. I suspect a shifted belt. I have notified kumho of this problem and sent them a picture. I can send you a picture and I still have the problem tire available. I think this tire could have blown anytime, but we caught the problem in time.

My wife was driving to work this morning when she had a tire blowout on the highway going 60mph. I met up with her to put the spare on and I was expecting a nail or something in the tire. When I inspected the tire I was surprised to notice a severe blowout on the rear passenger tire on the inside side wall of the tire from the tread to the rim. This is concerning to me because we still had 40,000 miles left on the warranty and we still have the same brand/size on the other tires. I am worried that this may happen on the other tires. The brand of tire is yokohama avid trz size: p205/55r16 89t. I know this tire is not on the recall list, but I am suspect of this tire after this incident.

Consumer has experienced 4 tire blow outs witht eh continental tire equipment. ** answer required***. The tire dealer replaced the consumer's four continental tires with with the same defective model tire which had blownout. After the replacement the consumer experienced the fourth blowout of on of the continental tires in less than one year.

2002 Audi A6 was taken to sunset Audi in portland or in Dec. 2003 because appeared tires were wearing-shaving on edges and middle,they aligned the car. On August 11th one of the tires went flat. On the next Friday the car was taken to les schwab which is the warranty agent for pirelli. Les schwab tire store said that they just had another Audi in the same thing on the exact same type of car and they had see many others that had been coming in forthe same problem. Pirelli has them send back the tires and would determine if any moneywould be returned. Besides the flat tire all the tires had to be replaced. Les schwab said that it did not in any way look like alignment problem that instead they thought that the rubber compound was not adequate. My car is 2 years old with only 10,000 mi Audi says they have no responsibility for the tires as that is a warranty with pirelli however since it may be that either Audi did not specify the right tire or pirelli gave tires in adequate in the thickness of the rubber. The bottom line was that I a 77 year old feel that I have been taken,I had to payout a little over $400 for four new tires on my low mileage car. In addition I only drive on well paved roads and no freeways. I fee that someone is not being accountable for the safey of myself and others. Since Audi sends all the tire problems to perrile they never hear back if there are problems. My concern is that not only one tire blew out but all f our could have gone out at once--how many other Audi owners are out there with tires shredding. I have asked Audi to find out if the tire company will be giving me my moneyback--they toldme at the dealer that the only money the tire company gives back is if there is a defect and they have never know this tire company to find defects--thus Audi does not have to pay for tires and neither will the tire CO.
