I am writing about an incident that happened to my wife while she was driving my car from los angeles, CA to phoenix, az on June 16, 2021. My wife was driving the Audi Q5 at approximately 75mph and 125 miles west of phoenix (near the CA/az border) when the car suddenly loss power. She stepped on the gas and noticed the speed gradually dropping. Fortunately, she had the presence of mind and barely had enough time to pull over to the shoulder. It was at this point that she called to tell me that the car would no longer start and the “check engine” and “epc” light indicators were illuminated. This occurred at approximately 12:30 noon during a severe heatwave where the outside temperature was 117 degrees. I asked her to wait for 10 minutes to try to restart the car; the car would not restart. She called aaa towing and was told the wait would be over one hour because of the rural location (quartzsite, az). She ended up waiting a little over 3 hours in her car, without air conditioning, in 117 degrees for a tow truck driver to arrive. The car was towed to her sister’s house in goodyear, az at a cost of $673. The next day, she had the car towed to the Audi dealership in peoria, az where it was diagnosed the car had suffered a fuel vapor lock due to the heat. The car has less than 28,000 miles on the odometer when the incident happened. Audi peoria kept the car for a couple of days because the parts had to be ordered from los angeles. Ultimately, the repair bill from the dealership came to $1,983. I felt helpless and scared for my wife that I was not able to assist her as I was 3 hours away. What if my wife (or another driver) was unable to pull over to the side of the road? the chances of an accident are dramatically increased if the vehicle was stuck on the highway. As you can imagine, my wife has been traumatized by this incident and we are both fearful that this incident can happen again. Therefore, we request that NHTSA investigate this incident.

Extreme oil consumption (burning 2+ quarts in less than 500 miles); cutting off while idling. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. If this is a leak, it could possibly catch on fire while my child is driving to school, or it could cut off while driving causing a bad accident. Yes it has been confirmed by a repair facility. Check/add oil indicator; check engine light; emits black smoke from rear. Issues appeared 2 days after purchasing the car.

My car is a really strong odor of fuel or gasoline in the cabin it's super severe and I don't know where it's coming fromdoesn't matter if it's running if I'm driving summer starting it it's it's just takes a little while for it to start to stink and then once it's been on for a couple minutes it starts to just wreak.
I took my vehicle to Audi south austin on 6/1/22 regarding my a/c and back up camera not working, continuous oil consumption issue, passenger air bag light turning on, and rpm higher than normal while idling. Christina turner told me that the wait for my car to be service was 3-4 weeks. She quoted me a price of $275 for each diagnostic test. I mentioned a recall regarding the auxiliary heater and she told me that the recall had previously been completed. I asked her if there was a warranty and she mentioned that it was 12 months/ 12,000 miles and that my vehicle was over that time frame. I have took my vehicle serval times to Audi south austin regarding the oil and coolant consumption. The first service was on 12/5/20regarding an oil change, multi point inspection, and coolant topped off. I was told if I had any issues with the oil or coolant consumption to let them know. I took my vehicle to Audi north austin on 2/8/21 regarding my coolant and oil consumption. The told me that I had an oil and coolant leak. When I mentioned the recall of the coolant pump, they told me that the oil leak caused the coolant leak and wouldn’t be covered. I notified Audi south austin regarding the issues and asked them why they didn’t notice the oil leak during the oil change and inspection. They told me that they would do the recall issue and charge me approximately $5,000 for the oil leak. After showing them the invoice from Audi north of the oil charge being approximately $1,500, they offered the same amount. I have returned to Audi south austin regarding the oil consumption and oil marks on the side of my car and they technician tells me that it’s normal for my make and model to consume oil and that I would just have to add oil. I’m worried that there is an electrical issue regarding the auxiliary recall and could catch fire while I’m driving. I also have 2 children and it’s difficult driving in 96 degrees weather without a/c and having to wait 3-4 weeks.

I noticed a fuel smell emanating from the rear seat area on the passenger side of the vehicle, a 2010 Audi q% with 104,500 miles. This was noticeable both while driving and stationary while parked in the garage. After further investigation I visually saw fuel drops around the rear passenger seat on the bottom of the vehicle. I visited the national highway safety website and found a recall that matched the symtoms I described above. I contacted my Audi dealer and they indicated a fix for that recall was completed in 2016 on my vehicle. I am not sure what was accomplished but it seems it didn't work. I have been told by the Audi service department that the fuel flange and various other items will need to be replaced. As this is a safety item and the car can't be driven until repaired I authorized the repair at substantial expense. I feel as if a temporary fix was completed in 2016 and not a permanent fix which should have been accomplished.
Im loosing a liter of oil every 200-500 miles and tyranny feels like it slips a little but the oil consumption is why im writing this I bought my 2012 Audi Q5 premium sport edition with a 2. 0 turbo with 80,000 miles and was not told about the oil consumption!!.
Audi didn't finish their recall 20w9. The Q5 we have had the first step done but not the rest. This is from the TSB : Audi will notify owners, and dealers will clean the pump flange and install a butyl rubber band to protect the pump, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Interim notices will sent in early November 2016. A second notice will be sent when parts are available. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20w9. Our back seat is full of fuel. The pump cracked. The local Audi shop said the recall has been done, but after I investigated the Audi dealership that did the recall, they mentioned only a protective kit was put on.
I have code po299 turbocharger/supercharger a underboost condition. I was under warranty in 2016 to have my pistons and rings replaced because the oil consumpion was very high, now I'm burning more oil and I changed the diverter valve I'm still coming up with p0299 code and need to replace my turbo after 60k miles from the piston and rings replacement. . . I think this all has to be part of the same problem and Audi should repair it for free.
Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, increasing the risk of fire and car stalls etc. .
There's a strong smell of gasoline inside( air vents) and outside the vehicle, while driving and stationary.
Audi offered a warranty extension for intake manifold & fuel injectors in certain 2008-2011 model year Audi vehicles with 2. 0 tfsi engine. Audi rejected our claim for a faulty fuel injector in our 2011 car citing that “vehicle does not have the extended warranty for fuel injectors and the information that was submitted was only for 2. 0 tfsi engine's with the engine code of cbfa & ccta. The engine in your vehicle is a 3. 2 fsi with the engine code calb. So this warranty extension would not be applicable to your vehicle. ” our Audi dealership diagnosed our car with the same fuel injector issue listed by Audi in this warranty extension as well as stating that this is a very common issue with our make, model and year. Our Audi is a 2011 model, less than 120,000 miles, and less than 10 years when the malfunction indicator lamp appeared. Their letter does not stand to prove that a faulty fuel injector was not placed in our car that was built in 2011, the same year that they installed faulty fuel injectors in their 2. 0 tfsi engines. Audi dealership diagnosed our car as suffering from misfire conditions that in turn cause the malfunction indicator lamp to appear. The dealership indicates that this is a common issue with Audis during our production year. This is the same issue that Audi listed in their warranty extension letter to consumers with 2. 0 tfsi engines. Our car meets all the requirements in Audi’s warranty extension letter (2011 model, less than 120,000 miles, and less than 10 years when the malfunction indicator lamp appeared) except that our car is a 3. 2 fsi vs 2. 0 tfsi. Audi is not able show that they did not install a faulty fuel injector into our car. Fuel injector problems in cars with mileage under 100,000 miles and less than 10 years of age is very uncommon. This plus Audi’s history of installing faulty fuel injectors into cars built in our year lead us to believe that Audi also installed a faulty fuel injector into our car.
Incident date: 5/9/20 mileage: 70,290 miles summary: I reversed out of parking space, shifted my car into drive, and my car abruptly hesitated, decelerated, resisted, and jerked upon engaging the gas pedal; a series of multiple warning/indicator lights simultaneously flashed on the obd screen while my car was in motion. The car continued to decelerate, jerk & hesitate. Messages referenced hybrid, malfunction, electronic, inoperable, loss of ability to control steering, steering power, danger, hazard, engine, stabilization, driving, power. I attempted to accelerate from a stop sign to cross a 4 lane intersection of moving traffic. Upon pressing the gas pedal to cross the traffic intersection, my car would hesitated to accelerate, and more abruptly jerked and hesitated - like I was driving a manual transmission that was stalling out/stuck in the wrong gear. The more I tried to accelerate across the 4 lanes of moving traffic, the more severely the car resisted, jerked, hesitated, and fluctuated in power. I could've been t-boned by another vehicle and seriously injured, as the speed limit on both sides of this traffic intersection is 45mph. I was informed by the Audi dealership that I need a brand new transmission due to internal parts failure. I was also informed the condition and level of transmission fluid requires an entirely new transmission. The following diagnostic codes were provided by the dealership: p0ab900,p060a00,p279700,u040200. According to Audi, my car now needs a whole new transmission and has burned transmission fluid due to an internal parts failure at 70,290 miles. The transmission replacement and labor is approx $27k. I recently learned the transmission mechatronics was replaced by another Audi dealership in Aug 16 and the mileage was approximately 22kmiles. I purchased the vehicle in Jan 17, with approx. 26kmiles. More detail in pdf.
Oil leak and engine cooling pipes uo.
Strong smell of gas inside the cabin and outside the car while moving and while stationary. Vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA recall 16v-660. Dealer states the recall 18v818000 does not apply, even though the previous recall solution was "interim". Dealer refuses to claim responsibility.
When depressing gas pedal from stopped (or near stopped) position, the vehicle fails to respond before moving forward. This most frequently occurs when pulling onto or crossing a street, and I'm concerned it will eventually be the cause of an accident. The dealer has checked this several times, but says that the recorder shows no problem. It does not occur every time, and no default is recorded, but it continues to occur even after almost two years. Dealer has a number of service requests for this issue, all marked as ntf. I also have copies of 10 or more email complaints to dealer that can be made available is requested. Only the latest date is noted below - it happens almost every week.

Audio Q5 2013 Audi 2. 0 tfsi engine high oil consumption. There is a design flaw with the engine that causes high oil consumption. As a result, engine oil leaks into the cylinders which cause the engine to stall, damage the engine and impede acceleration. I have added oil on 3 occasions this year - 2019. The first indication to add oil came back in 2015 - 2 years after buying the car brand new and after about 30000 miles. The first breakdown occurred in 2017 after I stopped at a traffic light then attempted to accelerate up on a hill, I wasn't told what the issue was, but Audi covered the repair charges since the car had about 35000 miles on it and the manufacture's warranty was recently expired. After breaking down on the highway again 2 years later, the car was taken to the dealer which then informed me that a blown cylinder was the cause and it's best I replace all 4 cylinders because they were all going to fail at sometime. After the repairs were completed, I drove about 500 miles, then the car indicated to add oil again. I also happen to notice that when the oil is low there is hesitation whenever I start to accelerate from a dead stop or going up a hill. I continue to add oil whenever the car indicates, but the issue gets worse by the mile. . Read more...
I recently purchased a 2010 Audi Q5 prestige . I had it from 7 day and put fuel in it maybe 4 times . The very last time I put fuel in it there was a strong gas smell coming through the vents . It gets stronger and stronger.
I have an Audi tdi that the diesel emissions recall was completed. I brought to the attention of my service advisor - dealer, that when the outside air temp is warm/hot and the vehicle is warmed up, there appears lag in the acceleration then suddenly there is a quick burst of speed where the vehicle catches up to the foot accelerator position. Lifting the foot off the accelerator aids in slowing down but I am concerned that if another family member gets in the car there might be a different understanding of what the vehicle is doing. The dealer service advisor did not note this condition on the list of complaints - things to fix at last service. He did state that all the vw-porshe-Audi diesel vehicles are dealing with similar issues and that I just needed to adjust my driving, there is no current resolution for the condition. I feel that there should be a better answer from vw-porshe-Audi to resolve this concern with the highly skilled engineers they employ!.

Noticeable scent of gasoline inside the vehicle.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Audi Q5. While driving 30 mph, the contact smelled a fuel odor. The contact pulled the vehicle over and shut off the engine. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but was unsuccessful and the check engine indicator illuminated. Also, the electric power steering warning message appeared. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The contact called the collection Audi (200 bird rd, coral gables, FL 33146, (305) 444-5555), but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was unknown.
The car smells to raw gas sitting in the garage. When I get in it the iside smells to raw gas also. I am not getting any warning signs.
The car gas a strong gas smell in the cabin of the car, everyday, all day. Took it to Audi and they said they fixed the "problem". The car can't be driven. Its causing nausea and headaches when driving more than 5 mins. I don't feel safe driving a car that is producing a gas smell. I believe that gas flange recall created more issues to my car that Audi made me pay for and never fixed the gas smell.
The car has about 10k miles. It smells like unburnt raw fuel when the car is parked in residential indoor garage. When there is no car in the garage, the odor is not present. The car was taken to the Audi dealer but they claimed the smell cannot be reproduced. It is a safety, health and environment issues hence reporting.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Audi Q5. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v298000 (fuel system gasoline). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Audi of colorado springs (550 automotive dr, colorado springs, CO 80905, (719) 722-3005) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Received a recall related to electric coolant pump in June. Parts not available. Called my dealer princeton Audi and no help. Received second notice regarding this in September, that Audi had an 'interim fix" and advised me to contact princeton Audi again. I did, but they did't have the part for the 'interim fix' either. I have called them 3 times and now am on a waiting list with over 100 names. Audi apparently is not making these parts fast enough, and in the meantime, we are advised to keep the car out of the garage. . . Winter is coming in the northeast. They have no idea when they will get the part.

I purchased a new epa compliant Audi Q5 diesel on March 28th 2018. The vehicle had the epa emissions repair completed. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I experienced an intermittent throttle control issue. It primarily occurs at slow speeds. When driving slowly, if I suddenly accelerate, such as passing around a vehicle in front of me, the throttle will not work, despite my pressing on the gas pedal. I have to remove my foot from the gas pedal and reapply it to get throttle response. I believe this is an unsafe situation and should be addressed by Audi. I've had the vehicle to the dealership that sold me the vehicle twice and they could not identify the problem. The issue has occurred at least 12 times. I was recently able to replicate it twice in a controlled setting, however, I was unable to replicate it at the dealership. The dealership found no associated codes with a scan.

Check engine fuel system alarm warning light - with caution to drive below 35 mph and immediately to service center. Service center says they found nothing wrong. Then read ap report on fuel clogging and fires. This vehicle had a previous recall but we never got a warning or letter (they sent it to an address in west palm beach that we never ever gave them or lived at).
Particulate sensor (particle sensor lambda dpf diesel Audi a4 b9 a6 a7 a8 Q5 q7 4g0906261b) in the diesel particulate filter (dpf) filter failed at 56k miles, 4 years into the life of this vehicle. This is a $500 (aprox) part, and it is related to the diesel emissions control system, which is not yet patched under the vw tdi program. I am being told by the service that I cannot drive this car until sensor is replaced, and there is no warranty coverage.
