39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/03/2024

My 2017 Audi Q7 3. 0t with 99k miles and it consumes oil excessively. I am having to add a quart of oil about every 500-600 miles. My local german auto repair shop has told me, in my case that it is extreme & I should be worried. I’ve seen many other people with the same engine with oil consumption & I know it can cause the engine to fail. This needs to be addressed by someone due to how common this problem is with these engines.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/20/2024

I bought my 2017 Audi Q7 on November 16, 2023 (used) and a couple of days after putting the headlights on auto I get a message pop up "front left side marker light defective see owner's manual". Also kept getting a low oil message. This model have no oil stick so I put about a 1/2 qt of oil in it to see if the message goes away. It goes away for a few hours. The vehicle basically stopped running leaving myself and kids on the side of the road in the winter while we wait for a tow truck. After getting it towed to mentor Audi dealership, they gave me the bad news that the engine needed to be replaced. My engine has been replaced and documents can be sent upon request. After doing some research, I found out that these are common issues with the 2017 Audi Q7. Nhtsa campaign id 16v642000.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 02/13/2024

Lately, I have been adding coolant to my car - 2013 Audi q& tdi and motor oil for unknown reasons why it was happening. It started last year, 2023. I thought it was a normal thing that the oil level and coolant level kept on getting depleted. Comparing with my other car, I. E. A 2016 Toyota avalon, I never encountered these problems my Audi car was serviced sometime 2018 and apparently all gaskets of the engine were replaced after I complained about severe leaking of oil inside my car garage. Until I went online to get if there were similar complaints of other users of this car were reported. My friend's car of same Audi model was also experiencing the same issue. I was also observing a similar gas smell inside my Audi car, whenever I start the engine and my air vent is not closed for couple of months. When I had it serviced to check my vent filter, the mechanic also noticed that there was leaking oil near the filter housing. The brake power is so low despite having it serviced for brake assist recall sometime in 2016 despite new brake pads were installed. I also noticed that the brake fluid was getting lower sometime July 2023. Looking at the list of recalls - these complaints were not addressed by those 3 recalls reported to NHTSA.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 02/03/2024

Noticed a lower level of coolant (below the min mark) at the coolant reservoir - checked with mechanic and was told there is a slow coolant leak at the one of the water pump seals (which has corroded). Need a water pump replacement. Was told it is a very common occurence with these cars - but was surprised to experience this issue on a car with less than 20k miles driven.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/20/2024

Vehicle displayed a “malfunction” warning followed by a notification the engine rpm would be limited to 1,200 and decelerated rapidly to 1,200 rpm and would not go past it. Vehicle would only drive at about 11-13 mph afterwards. Incident occurred on a downhill 5 minutes after starting driving in the morning. If this had happened on a highway at high speeds it could have been a very dangerous situation.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/19/2024

I was driving on the freeway at 60 mph when pushing on the gas pedal, the Audi Q7 2017 started to DE-accelerate from 60 - 30 and then went lower. The gas pedal then locked while still on a lane on the freeway and luckily I was able to quickly move to the shoulder of the freeway. From there my car proceeded to not start and kept flashing low battery, telling me to put it into drive. I could not put it into drive to start the car. There were no warnings as the car lost speed on the freeway and a mechanic has determined it is the fuel pump. This was a very scary incident as my two young children and dog were in the car and if I hadn't been able to move to the side quickly, we would have been stopped in the middle of a busy city freeway. Additionally, it took a tow truck two hours to reach us. I keep my car well maintained with service.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2014 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/02/2024

I am experiencing a severe oil leak between the engine and gearbox of my Audi Q7. This issue poses a safety risk due to potential engine malfunctions and accidents. Many hello my name is [xxx] , owner of 2014 Q7 tdi. I am writing to bring to your attention a prevalent issue that has been reported by numerous Audi Q7 tdi vehicle owners, including myself. It has come to my attention, through various online forums such as Audiforum, that a significant number of Q7 tdi owners are experiencing oil leaks between the engine and gearbox. This issue poses a safety risk due to potential engine malfunctions and accidents. Many other Q7 owners have reported similar problems, and Audi America is aware of the issue. Warning signs appear when oil levels are low, indicating the need for constant oil replenishment. The component in question is available for inspection upon request. This issue not only poses a potential safety risk but also has the potential to cause significant damage to the vehicle's engine and drivetrain components. As a concerned owner, I believe it is imperative for Audi to address this issue promptly and comprehensively. Therefore, I am formally requesting that Audi initiate a recall for all affected Audi Q7 tdi vehicles to rectify the oil leak issue. I urge Audi to conduct a thorough investigation into the root cause of the problem and implement appropriate measures to remedy it, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its customers. Please provide me with information on the formal procedure to file a request for a recall regarding this issue. Additionally, I would appreciate regular updates on the progress of this matter and any actions taken by Audi to address it. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/26/2023

I have received two "cylinder misfire" notifications. The first occured in December 2023 on a remote stretch of freeway. The second occured in June 2024 on a remote stretch of highway. In both cases, I immediately lost power and put myself and cars around me at risk because I had to pull over onto the side of the road to re-start the car. After the second incident, I now have no confidence in taking my car, only 6 years old and with 74k miles on it, out of the city and into the countryside. The symptoms of this issue include frequent oil burn / oil top-offs. My car requires a quart of oil every 200-300 miles. There are no leaks in my driveway. The leaking all seems to be coming from the cylinders. I am taking my Q7 into a mechanic, again, next week and I am concerns the solution will be "new engine" which costs more than the car is worth.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/23/2023

Cylinder 2 began to misfire at highway speeds. Diagnosed with a burnt exhaust valve in the engine. Possibly also due to the high oil consumption of greater than 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles.

50 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 11/24/2023

Coolant leaks is a major concern and I have been asked by local indy on water pump replacement to be done. Its costing me around 1500$. With so common issues, I think Audi should recall and substitute on their own case rather than every customer paying it.

Engine mounts are leaking at 118,000 mi.

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 11/08/2023

Engine mounts are failing on Audi Q7's at high rates just out of warranty. This is resulting in costly repairs to owners at extremely low mileage. On mine the engine mounts were shot at 54k miles and results in clunking from the engine moving around and shifting issues in the transmission. Audi is aware of the issues and is choosing to ignore it.

54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/14/2023

Start/stop system malfunction. The vehicle gave me this warning and the vehicle almost stopped completely in the interstate while doing 65mph. The warning disappeared after couple of times of turning the car back on, but it appeared once again. It looks that their are many complaints and a class act lawsuit on Audi about this problem but no recalls. It's dangerous and really mind blowing that nothing has been done on this issue.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/12/2023

While driving with my 4 year-old daughter a notification appeared on the driver display that there is an “electrical malfunction” and to call the service department. A few minutes later, while actively driving on the same busy road in my town, the vehicle completely turned off, including the power steering and abs breaks. I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection with no hazard lights and no ability to even shift the vehicle into neutral to move it. I was genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety of my daughter, as we were stranded in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour. It was a harrowing experience to say the least. Eventually we had the vehicle towed. When I called Audi, they informed me that they suspected it was the “starter generator” and that they were aware of the issue, but this was the first I had heard of it. They subsequently confirmed that it was the starter generator and are less than accommodating.

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 08/08/2023

While parking the car, the gearshift got stuck in “neutral” even though n was not pressed. I was not able to restart the car once I turned it off. Every time I pressed the start button, a warning would come on the screen “ please put the vehicle in park. Risk of roll over”. When I pressed the park button, nothing would happen. I got out of the car, but it wouldn’t lock. Unable to start the car for over 2 hours. Finally had to get the car towed to Audi dealership. It’s only one year old SUV. No prior similar problems.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/17/2023

Car issued an alert for low coolant, I checked next morning only to find that the coolant tank was empty. This warning could have alerted long back when the level fell below "min" marker. Owners cannot notice this leak because the coolant doesn't drip on the floor. Took it to an independent service center who alerted me about this issue. I researched and noticed that there's been a lot of complaints on forums for 2017 Audi Q7 3. 0 for coolant leak cause by the water pump, which always needs replacement. The replacement costs by Audi are upwards of us $1300. This issue seems like a regular pattern and can cause an engine failure. Audi should take responsibility and fix these cars.

60 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/13/2023

Engine malfunction piston rings oil consumption loud brakes.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/11/2023

Since purchase of this vehicle, it randomly trips a critical engine failure error do not exceed 1200 rpm. When it does this, it will idle at a much higher rpm than the do not exceed value, which causes the vehicle to come to a stop. The vehicle went into the shop during the winter of 2022, and they determined that it was a computer failure and replaced the car's computer system. The error went away until the winter/spring of 2023. In 2022, this error always occurred within a few blocks of home at low speed; but now this critical error will trip while driving on the roads at faster speeds, which causes the vehicle to rapidly decelerate. The dealership and service center looked over the issue and found that Audi has a technical bulletin out for this, and they expect a fix by fourth quarter 2023. Until then, they advise that it is not a problem and when the vehicle does this error wait until you're stopped and then turn the car off and back on to return the vehicle to normal operating conditions. Audi told the dealership there is no safety issue, and I'm telling the dealership that it will stop rapidly and without warning, and I was lucky the last time this happened that the cars behind me were paying attention. Neither Audi corporate or Audi bellevue consider this a safety risk, and that having a car stop suddenly and without warning to the driver or other cars on the road is perfectly fine. I've tried dealing with them all and the dealership states Audi says there is no safety issue and no fix so there is nothing we can do, and Audi USA customer care says that the dealership says it is safe so there is nothing we can do. It's a circle of nobody dealing with a serious safety issue. They state it's a rare occurrence, but I've had this happen several times over the 16 months I've owned the vehicle. See picture from text communicaiton.

65 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/30/2023

Multiple warnings indicating to contact dealer (lane departure, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, electric system malfunction, steering malfunction) then a few minutes later transmission failure and engine failure imminent. . . . Attempted to move out of traffic. Luckily, I made it to the right lane before the steering shut down, then the transmission failed (stepping on the gas caused the engine to rev, but no power was delivered to the wheels), and last the car completely died. Had to have it towed to dealership. Dealership confirmed that the starter/generator failed.

66 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/12/2023

While driving the vehicle, error messages began appearing on the in-panel dashboard display. At first, a yellow/orange battery icon appeared with the message "electrical system: malfunction! please contact service". Within an hour, the car experienced another electrical system malfunction (red battery icon appeared with the message "electrical system: malfunction! safely stop vehicle") along with a host of other error messages (brakes: malfunction, steering: malfunction, parking brake: malfunction, vehicle lights: malfunction, stabilization control (esc/abs): malfunction, drive system: malfunction, transmission: malfunction). The car was undrive-able at this point, coasted to a stop and could not be restarted while on an active roadway. The car had to be towed to the dealership, where it still remains today. * components or systems malfunctioned: electrical system, brakes, steering, parking brake, vehicle lights, stabilization control (esc/abs), drive system, transmission. It is available at the Audi dealership service location for inspection * my safety was put in significant danger due to the car shutting down on an active roadway with no control over the vehicle. * the problem has been confirmed by the dealer. * the vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service center but not by police or insurance representatives. * many warning lamps and messages appeared within an hour of the car becoming inoperable.

67 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/11/2023

Engine coolant leak due requiring a water pump and thermostat replacement. Vehicle has 53,621 miles.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/09/2023

During a state inspection, the technician discovered that the water pump was damaged and was leaking coolant onto the engine. The coolant overflow was below minimum, but no low coolant lights appeared on the dash. The repair cost me $1200 out of pocket, and no assistance was offered as the vehicle is just out of warranty. This issue is commonly documented as highly prevalent in the 2017 Q7, among other models--poor design of the pump is resulting in premature failures. There was a class action law suit against other Audi models that is providing relief to consumers and extending warranty for this issue. With the number of failures being reported, please extend this support to Audi Q7!.

69 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/06/2023

Vehicle was parked and went out to start it and coolent was all over ground under car. Water pump blew on Audi with only 25,000 miles on it. Currently a class action on the Q7 3t stating the water pumps keep going out on new vehicles or vehicles with low mileage. Now the malfunction light will not go out and repair shop said its an emissions issue.

70 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2014 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/27/2022

We have a 2014 Audi Q7 with 60k mileage that we serviced and maintained by hoffman Audi all the time. On December 27th, while on the freeway, the engine was shut down without any prior alert, with a lot of smoke and oil leakage. With our minimal knowledge, it appears the gasket was frozen, causing the coolant to leak into the engine's unwanted part and damage it completely. This is a manufacturing and poor-quality Audi product that could have risked the life of the passengers on board. We filed a complaint to Audi USA with no response, and insurance declined. We need your kind attention to help us in finding a way to fix the issue as why did hoffman service center never figure out the issue, if there was one, and why did Audi not give any alert before such a disaster took place that will cost us >24k to fix a $35k car.
