36 Equipment problem of the 2022 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 04/18/2023

My 2022 Q7 behaved strangely today when the sunroof just was busted by itself. My Q7 is just 8 months old & to my surprise even when nothing hit the sunroof, it was busted. I have officially logged a complaint with Audi. But I am unsure of any response. I was with my wife while this incident happened & lucky that my kids weren’t with me at the same time. This vehicle is apparently the luxury model & safety should have been the first consideration for the driver, passengers & any vehicle following while on the road. I need your help here to understand how to address this issue.

Sunroof suddenly exploded while driving, no other vehicles or flying objects around. The glass broke into several small pieces. It had the potential to shatter glass on me & my family while riding in the SUV. The same issue has been reported by several individuals on the Audi world website. My vehicle is currently at a repair facility & being inspected by the insurance company. There were no warning signs. It suddenly occurred.

42 Equipment problem of the 2015 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 07/04/2022

The car constantly needs to get oil. It is unreal that I went for a top off and the next day the oil light is on. The car has always been serviced by the dealer's service center, however no sense is made about this problem. The tail pipes show black that gives proof of oil burning no signs of oil leakage over the hood. I think this is a hazard that could only be after the damage is done. I have had to get oil put into the car thrice within the same week.

2017 Audi Q7 - 26k miles. During oil change visit - multipoint inspection, dealer service center informed me about the fluid leak and it warrants a water pump replacement/repair which cost around $1500. No sign of this failure, just out of warranty and they’re able to find now.

48 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 04/10/2022

There is side marker lights issue. It happened 2 years ago in my case, both cases left side. . Audi has previously address this recall, but did not include my VIN, and it states the same issue. I found that old model has same issue with recall. I searched Audi owner web site, and saw there were so many owner had same problem. However, Audi did not declare 2017 Q7.

49 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 03/10/2022

After the shutdown of 3g network, my 2018 Audi Q7 prestige lost some great features. Audi USA sent a recall 91cd which is basically the notice that 3g network will be shutting down from 2/22. This deactivates app based features like lock/unlock, vehicle monitoring, vehicle related data etc. When taken to the dealership "Audi minneapolis" with letter from Audi USA, dealership just upgraded the software but refused to upgrade the hardware. They asked $400 to upgrade the hardware. This is really inconvenient for the customer and also a safety issue as I am thinking. Please look into this and pressure Audi USA to come up with a resolution. Attached is a chat script with Audiusa. Basically customer has to live with the issue.

50 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 02/17/2022

Without warning, my 2017 Audi Q7 sunroof exploded, with glass exploding outward and shards deposited on the closed mesh sun/shade screen. I was alarmed by a loud explosive noise, thinking a tire blow-out, but the sunscreen had literally exploded. I escaped being injured by flying glass shards because the sun/shade was drawn closed so glass did not enter the cabin. Only the retractable piece of the sunroof glass exploded, the rear glass remained intact. I contacted my local Audi dealer for a replacement part and asked him to research if the sunroof glass was defective. The dealership has not alluded to any defect study of Audi Q7 sunroof glass shattering. Upon repair, Audi service team concluded that both pieces of the panoramic sunroof must be replaced because ‘ they changed the profile of the glass and now the new front glass does not line up properly to the rear glass’. The entire sunroof was replaced at my expense.

54 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/20/2021

Dear leadership @ NHTSA, on July 5th, I reported an incident of air conditioner not working on my Audi Q7 car with dealer- Audi bellevue, located at 1533 120th Ave ne, bellevue washington 98005. Findings from the service team was, faulty control module and it was replaced. However, this replacement did not fix the problem. Further investigation led to puncture in the condenser as the cause. I was told the condenser had to be replaced. I spoke to my service advisor and supervisor of the service advisor. My question to them was “how can the condenser get punctured, which is under the hood of the car. My car never met with any accident”? per dealer supervisor, while driving rocks from the road, can make its way through the front grill and make a hole on the condenser and this is a known issue. My concern is, if this is a known problem, why is Audi still sticking to this design where it can let rocks pass through the front grill to make a dent on the condenser. This is causing a huge inconvenience/hardship to customers like me. I had to spend $1,542. 62 for the condenser replacement(though I had a platinum extended warranty) and had to leave my car at the workshop for 11 days. Now that the condenser is replaced and working fine, the issue does not resolve here, rocks can potentially come through the front grill and can make a dent on the condenser again. This is still an open issue. If that happens again, I will have to go through the same cycle of hardship/hazard/inconvenience. From inspection standpoint, the punctured condenser should be available with my dealer. I have not made a claim through insurance, so no inspection is made on this condenser. I am not certain when the rocks would have puncture the condenser and there is no indication when the condenser was punctured. Since I noticed my air conditioner not working on June 27th, I believe this incident of condenser puncture could have happened a week before.

55 Equipment problem of the 2008 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/10/2021

My vehicle [xxx] has a few symptoms that no Audi dealer or european repair shop can tell me the issue first the epg blinks on then the vehicle won’t start then once it finally starts up in the parking gear it’s revving up as if I pressing on the gas it does this on its own my check engine light comes on even when the necessary maintenance have been done. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

56 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/08/2021

Premature water pump failure. I took our 2017 Audi Q7 into the dealer for a 60k mi service. The vehicle has been serviced as recommended by Audi at the dealership at every interval. On this visit everything looked normal but they discovered a leak in the water pump. Quoted a $2100 repair. We are out of warranty. Talking to other Audi Q7 owners, many have had premature water pump failures. Some were covered by warranty, others not. The water pump is an essential component and if it fails, it could leave the driver and occupants stranded due to an overheated engine.

57 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/04/2021

Water pump failed with 47k files - there seem to be a lot of these issue with multiple Q7 owners. It seems like there was a manufacturing defect.

58 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 03/11/2021

At times, the "stop-start" system seems to falter when the vehicle has slowed to almost a full stop, but not quite. If I try to accelerate I get a few seconds when nothing happens. I feel that it is either a transmission caught between shifts or an engine falter. I have mentioned this to the dealer, but was told that "that's how it is".

59 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/26/2021

Sun roof spontaneously exploding while driving straight on a highway.

60 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 10/07/2020

I went to pick my 3 yo twins at school. Opened my door, got off the car and closed it, with keys inside my purse at front passenger seat (my usual routine). Was able to open passenger's back door, buckled my son to car seat and closed his door. When turned to other side to open the door for my girl, noted car was locked and ignition turned off with my 3yo son inside. All doors were locked despite keys being inside car and ignition off. Remote control was operable with batteries functioning well. School director called 911 and fire department went to assist. They were unable to open door and after ~20minutes of my son being inside, buckled and in florida heat, emt and fire fighters had to break a window to get him out. When I was able to get him, he was extremely hot with elevated temperature and soaked in sweat. Thankfully I was not with my 3month old baby that day. Since my boy's temperature was coming down nicely with supportive measures I did not take him to the hospital and decided to observe at home. Car had service 6 days prior to this event in Audi fort myers next day on 10/08/10, took car to Audi fort myers and reported event to service department, computer system was checked and no event was registered. Then I was told by employees at Audi, they could not explain the event but nothing they can do and no need to report to Audi USA.

61 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 08/07/2020

I was parking the car and dropping my kid off at daycare. Car was stationary and parked when I proceeded to exit the car. Electronic key fob sat in the center console untouched. Pushed the auto start/stop button to turn the car off and exited the car without the key fob to get my kid from the car seat. Driver side car door closed and the car locked with the key fob in the center console. No other buttons were touched during this sequence. Car was now locked with my 4 year old in the car seat. I was unable to open any of the car doors, nor the trunk. It took about 5 minutes, but we were able to communicate through the window to my kid to push the button on the door (that had a red light on) to open his door. When this happened, I quickly grab the key fob. Before using the key fob to open the doors, I tried opening any of the other doors and they all were locked. This event has happened twice. This is the second time. The first time this happened I needed to drive back to my house and get the second key fob. This time, I did not have this luxury. The situation was dramatic enough that I need to file a complaint. Luckily, my kid was able to open the door. Any younger and I would've had to break the window.

62 Equipment problem of the 2015 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 07/01/2020

My passenger airbag light is on and my ac blower is not working.

63 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/20/2020

In may of 2020 I severely hit my head (left side of forehead) on the c-pillar while exiting the left-rear seat. The vehicle was parked at the time at the time of my head injury. The injury was caused because the c-pillar is very close to the rear headrest, and to exit the vehicle one generally has to look down at the ground where one is about to step. It is my understanding that there is currently a safety recall (70h8 NHTSA: 20v658) for this vehicle, a 2018 Audi Q7. (the c-pillar is the third vertical beam from the front of the vehicle. ) the recall states "an increased risk of injury if an unbelted passenger's head contacts the c-pillar in a crash. " my experience is that there is also an increased risk of head injury on the c-pillar as passengers exit the vehicle from the rear doors while the vehicle is parked. I reported my problem to the manufacturer and they responded on Dec. 22, 2020: "Audi of America has reviewed your concerns and we see the experience as being no fault of the vehicle or the 70h8 campaign. ".

64 Equipment problem of the 2019 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 03/15/2020

Moonroof exploded while driving 55 to 60 mph on a straight highway. There were no cars, trucks on the road ahead of me. The stretch of highway was elevated with nothing but marshland on both sides. No civilization, stores, humans etc. There was a loud pop sound like a plastic bottle had popped, then my ears popped and about one or two minutes later an explosion and shower of glass on myself and my passenger.

66 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/23/2019

Hi there I purchased a used 2017audi Q7 3. 0t with about 65k miles in October of 2019 and a couple of weeks later I noticed that the antifreeze bottle was always low so I had to keep adding. There was no leak in the garage but you can certainly smell the antifreeze. I checked on google and other forums and learned there is a problem with the water pump. So if other people is having the same problem I think Audi should look into fixing it . Thank you.

67 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 08/30/2019

Sunroof exploded while driving at high speed on a highway in texas. First we heard a big loud boom thinking we got hit, or we had a tire blew up, then we realized we were covered in shattered glass all over the front seat and second row (sun shade was open). We were lucky this time since no other vehicle was near us and no one got hurt. This is a major safety concern that needs to be addressed.

68 Equipment problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

While backing up, image of rear view and overhead camera froze. Image showed a clear area behind car and I continued to back. I backed several more yards and hit thick underbrush before I realized the image was not accurate. I cut off car and restarted and image still froze. There was no damage from contact with brush but there was a large tree within 2 feet of the car's rear.

69 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/15/2019

Vehicle gets locked and can't unlock it even when keys are in pants pocket. Need to go to driver seat and unlock it. It happened to multiple times when I had the key in my pocket and I came to back seat to get something and closed the door. Car got locke and could not unlock it from rear seats. I had to climb over to driver seat to unlock from there. This is a safety issue to me because toddler can be in the back seat and get locked. To me it does not make sense when keys and inside the car. Please look into this matter. This is a $80k car and this is what happens. These companies are nothing bit money grabbing organizations!!!.

70 Equipment problem of the 2018 Audi Q7
