36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/23/2023

I have been told that I have a fuel rail leak, which can cause a fire in the engine compartment. This is the same as NHTSA campaign number 19v035000, but that campaign only covers model years 2016-2018 for the Audi Q7. This same issue has surfaced with my 2019 Q7.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/22/2022

I am reporting a serious issue with the 2017 Audi Q7 involving excessive oil consumption. The vehicle burns 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles or less, requiring me to constantly add oil between regular oil changes to avoid engine damage. This is not normal and poses a serious safety risk if the engine runs dry during operation. Audi denied my buyback request without inspecting the vehicle or reviewing service records. Instead, their solution has been to provide free oil top-offs, which proves they are aware of the problem but are avoiding a permanent fix or recall. Other Audi Q7 owners, even with newer models and low mileage, report the same defect. This is a manufacturing defect that makes the vehicle unreliable and unsafe for normal driving. This can cause the vehicle to stall or stop suddenly while driving, especially at high speeds or in traffic. That’s a major safety risk. If the oil burns too quickly, the warning may come too late. The need to constantly monitor and add oil makes the car unreliable for everyday use. Regular oil changes are meant to keep the car safe and working smoothly. But if oil is burning quickly between changes, the car can’t be safely operated on a normal maintenance schedule, which defeats the purpose of service intervals and puts extra responsibility and risk on the driver. Audi’s refusal to issue a recall or perform proper repairs is deceptive and dangerous. I request NHTSA to investigate this issue and determine whether a recall is necessary for this known defect. It also breaches implied warranty of merchantability (ucc § 2-314).

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

I am writing to report on the results of a call on 08-01-22 to Audi USA regarding the current recall on Audi Q7 automobiles. I asked if the car was safe to drive and the representative could not answer the question. Her comment was that Audi has not issued a stop drive action. The recall notice states ". . . There may be a sudden loss of engine power or the vehicle may break down without a warning appearing beforehand. " this would seem to indicate that it is not safe to drive the vehicle. Our vehicle meets all the criteria mentioned in the recall as being effected. However, the Audi USA representative instructed me to contact my dealer to get the car assessed. The dealer was contacted and we were told they are waiting on guidance from Audi USA and there was no reason at this time to bring the car in for evaluation. In short, we are very concerned about driving this car from a safety standpoint and Audi USA has done nothing but identify the problem without any solution as of today. It should be noted that we have not experienced any problem yet, but given the unknowns of this situation, we are hesitant to drive the vehicle. Any help in causing Audi to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 07/29/2022

Top of fuel pump has crack causing fuel to leaks when in use.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/10/2022

I had the fuel filter flange crack and leak fuel into an area where an electronic plug exists. This leak was part of NHTSA recall #17v298 from 2017. I took my vehicle into the dealer and had it inspected per the letter sent to me. The dealers repair included placing a rubberized butyl tape over the flange that they claimed would prevent it from ever developing a leak of fuel. When I discovered the fuel leak and found it was leaking at the flange (thru the butyl tape) I phoned the dealer who would not take the car in for inspection for five days (their earliest appointment). I have one vehicle and being without one for five days was not a viable option for me. I purchased the part from the Audi dealership and replaced it myself correcting the fuel leak. I phoned Audi north America to file for re-imbursement of the 340 dollars I paid for the part and it was rejected as they claimed they had repaired my vehicle under the recall. I was able to locate on the internet where Audi was re-notifying owners of vehicles to have the part replaced after the tape had been installed as the tape was found to be a temporary non lasting band aid to a serious problem. I was never notified of the secondary letter and was told by Audi that my vehicle was not included in the secondary callback for repairs. The fuel leak occurs underneath the rear passenger seat with a thin aluminum cover over the fuel filter flange. When the flange began leaking, it fills up with fuel right under the seat causing a major safety issue considering it is installed on the top of the fuel tank. It was, a part that needed to be corrected immediately, and the Audi dealership left me no other option but to repair it myself. I feel that Audi failed to repair the vehicle correctly when I took it in for the recall repair in November of 2017. The put a band aid on a problem hoping the leak would never occur, but, when the leak occurred they failed to remedy the issue. Thank you.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 11/30/2021

Good day, I took the car for the oil change and was advised by auto repairman that there is a fuel leak underneath the rear passenger side seat and the issue has a recall by Audi. Repairman stated he was unable to fix it due to the recall and instructed me to contact Audi direct to have the issue fixed. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 10/23/2021

Good morning, as of two days ago I began smelling gas when I exited my vehicle. I paid it no mind at the time since I was parked amongst other vehicles in the parking lot and this has never happened before or at least since I owned the vehicle. I placed a card board box under the vehicle just to sense if it was my vehicle and have a sense of security that I had nothing to worry about. The next day I did notice that the box contained stains of fluid and smelled like gas. As this is my only vehicle I had to drive to work and noticed that the smell got worst. As I arrived at work I immediately did some research and found out that there was a recall on the matter, but I did not receive any information pertaining to recall etc. On my way back home I drove below the speed limit and in the slow lane just as a pre-caution. During that time the engine light came on putting my stress level even higher. As of today I have reached out to the dealership and expressed my concerns about the safety of my family with the fluid being gas and may cause a fire. The response I received was that there was a recall, but it has since been closed. I have been taking the vehicle to be serviced at the Audi dealership and you would think that they would inform me of that information. I am awaiting a call from the corporate office to address my concerns at the moment and I don't think that it is going to be a good one. I contacted them before about the steering column issue where the system locks you out and would not allow access to get the vehicle started. I was told that it was my responsibility because of the age and mileage on the vehicle. Please note, I have not modified or changed anything on the vehicle. These are all manufacturing defects that they know exist.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/23/2021

I have an Audi 2008 Q7, that has a gas leak of some kind. Local mechanic says that it could be fuel pump leak. I looked for recalls to this problem and found two for 2008 Q7 gas leaks. When I contacted the local Audi dealership and gave them my VIN, they said no recalls on that VIN. When I called Audi corporate, they said the same thing when I gave them my VIN. I clearly see the recalls on line and it states all Q7 gas engines. This is a fire hazard and Audi is refusing to fix my car, because my VIN number isnt listed. Its obvious that its associated with this recall and im getting no help at all from Audi. They must take care of this recall.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Audi Q7

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 07/16/2021

I purchased this vehicle used on 7/14/21 from Audi of des moines. Not even 3 days after purchasing, the rear view mirror fell down, the back of the front driver and passenger seats came off, the car had been hail damaged at the dealership but they didn't inspect the entire car so I have to replace the windshield and front license plate plastic grill attachment. However, my biggest concern is the smell of gasoline after I drive the vehicle, every time. There is a strong odor of gasoline near both rear doors/wheels that can be smelled after stepping out of the vehicle and the engine has been lagging. I have filled the gas tank 3 times and each time used premium gasoline. I can't get any information as to whether or not my specific vehicle has had the 2 fuel recalls checked and/or serviced. I am beyond frustrated and feel like I was sold a lemon. Of course the dealership will not help me because they sold it as is no return policy. Mind you that stated that all they did to it was wash it and clean the inside prior to selling it to me and did not do any kind of thorough inspection.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/10/2021

My vehicle [xxx] has a few symptoms that no Audi dealer or european repair shop can tell me the issue first the epg blinks on then the vehicle won’t start then once it finally starts up in the parking gear it’s revving up as if I pressing on the gas it does this on its own my check engine light comes on even when the necessary maintenance have been done. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 04/01/2021

Issue is similar to NHTSA campaign id 16v660000, the fuel cap flange has butyl tape on it and has started leaking fuel. The garage has a strong fuel odor and is a fire hazard. The part is about 250 dollars, diagnosis was 150 and installation is about 1. 5 hour which is a grand total of 750 dollars. Why is my VIN not in the recall, if its a deflective part, recognized by Audi.

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/02/2020

Dear NHTSA team. My vehicle demonstrated a fuel smell in September 2020. I alerted Audi that I believed it was covered under either 20w9 or 20bj. They said it was not. I took it to a private repair shop that charged me $71 to diagnose the problem. The repair shop (team previously worked for Audi) shared that the problem was covered under a recall. I then took the car into the dealer and Audi fixed it under the recall. I sought reimbursement of my diagnosis fee of $71 for over three months. Audi failed to respond on multiple occasions when I first raised the issue, and later when I sought reimbursement. Finally, on 12/16/20 I was advised that Audi would not reimburse the diagnosis fee notwithstanding the repair was covered under the recall. They also allowed the unsafe situation to continue for weeks by refusing to repair under the recall. I bring this to your attention as a safety issue from a protocol standpoint, and ask for your help in securing my $71 reimbursement, which I feel falls under either of the recall campaigns for this vehicle and this recall issue. 53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

Recall 20w9 was completed about may 2018. No leaking or cracks were found. Butyl tape was placed over flange to "prevent" future leaks. August 2020, fuel flange is now leaking. Strong gasoline smell from outside of vehicle. Dealership service department confirms it is leaking. Refuse to cover cost of replacement. The original "recalled" part is still in vehicle. Why will it not be covered now because the part lasted a few years longer that others. It still has failed and their band aid has failed.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 07/20/2020

The glow plug light came on and off and the vehicle completely lose acceleration (no power) on the freeway during normal driving. This is the second time that this happens to me. The first time that it happened in June of 2020, the recall was done on by Audi dealer assuming that the problem would go away, but it came back.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 04/17/2020

There is a gas odor that is overwhelming when the truck starts. The gas mix with oil fumes will cause headaches because the odor comes into the vents of the truck and does not stop until after the truck is turned off. When the vehicle is turned off there is a hissing sound in the engine that does not stop until after 15min the engine stays off. There is no overheating but the engine is hotter then most trucks when running.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/10/2019

My family and I were driving about 55mph and the glow plug warning light started flashing and the vehicle stalled after a mile or so. The dealer said that the fuel was contaminated and that the whole fuel system had to be replaced and was going to cost more than $11000. The service guy said the dealer was paying for it because they are good guys, boloni. We could have had an accident and died because it was at night on a 2 way road and barely no room on the side of the road. I say from everywhere I've read it is a faulty hpfp. Car only has 65000 miles too.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/02/2019

Crankshaft pulley ripped itself apart at idle after vehicle was started.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/13/2019

I smell gas fumes after driving my car and then parking it in the garage. The part was supposedly fix before through the recall but if I was fixed correctly or in fact fixed at all, then why is it happening now. I took the car in because I received the recall notice, not because I was experiencing any issues, but now that I am they won't fix it. It obviously wasn't fixed properly.

Our Q7 is less than a year old. I smell gas when I park the car even after a short drive of about 3 miles. The idi service had said that this was related to vacuum pump and fixed it last week. I still smell gas and I am concerned with safety. I saw previous models have been recalled due to potential fire due to gas leak and I am worried that this might be the case with 2018 models as well.
