1 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/20/2025

I am reporting a severe defect in my 2020 Audi Q7 involving “coolant migration” due to a faulty water pump, a known issue in Audi models (q7, s4, a6, 2013–2022). This poses critical safety risks due to sudden failure with minimal warning. My out-of-warranty Q7 showed minor coolant fouling near a solenoid, with normal coolant levels and no fluid added. The dealer quoted ~$6,000 to replace the water pump and vacuum system. This defect is highly dangerous due sudden power loss: coolant in the vacuum system impairs solenoids and lines, disrupting engine/turbo function. This can cause abrupt power loss, risking loss of control in traffic or at high speeds, potentially leading to collisions. Catastrophic overheating: a failing water pump may halt coolant circulation, causing rapid engine overheating without warning, risking sudden engine shutdown and stranding drivers in hazardous conditions like highways. Brake assist failure: the vacuum system powers the brake booster. Contamination can reduce braking effectiveness, increasing pedal effort and stopping distances, heightening collision risks in emergencies. Emissions control issues: coolant fouling affects pcv and evap systems, causing misfires, stalling, or increased emissions, potentially triggering check engine lights and compromising engine stability. Undetectable progression: the defect often shows no clear symptoms or warnings until severe damage occurs. My vehicle had only minor fouling that could only be detected by visual inspection, yet extensive repairs were needed, indicating the issue’s stealthy nature, which prevents timely driver intervention. Systemic issue: forums and a class-action lawsuit confirm this defect across Audi models, yet owners face high repair costs post-warranty. This defect endangers drivers and others by risking vehicle failure, impaired braking, and unstable performance. I urge NHTSA to investigate and mandate a recall or extended warranty.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 03/28/2025

After owning the vehicle for less than one-year (~20k) miles, the front brakes started to pulse and make noise when stopping. Stopping distance was reduced. The dealer recommended that the rotors be replaced and did so at zero cost as a courtesy. Twelve weeks later, the pulsing and noise and reduced stopping distance started again. This time they refused to pay for the repair and blamed "braking habits". Audi national customer care also refused to do anything. The car is mostly driven on the highway and most of the braking is done by the adaptive cruise control. There is no other evidence of hard driving (I. E. Tire wear or low gas mileage). The problem is almost certainly the calipers which should not fail after a year. Reduced stopping distance and brake failure are a safety hazard.

5 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/11/2024

Error code for right front side marker light faulty. Light seems to be working. I've had two mechanics look at the car. They can't figure out what's wrong. Error message appears randomly. Brakes are very squeaky. I took the car to Audi and they said it was normal and I should brake more aggressively.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 03/10/2024

On March 10, 2024 we were parking the car in the lot at 3450 montgomery rd, aurora, IL 60504, when the car suddenly accelerated despite my foot being on the brake and crashed into a storefront. The fireman said the airbags deploy code was issues but the airbag never deployed, and the automatic emergency braking did not stop the car. It seemed as though the transmission was switched, but we had not touched the gas.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 02/13/2024

Lately, I have been adding coolant to my car - 2013 Audi q& tdi and motor oil for unknown reasons why it was happening. It started last year, 2023. I thought it was a normal thing that the oil level and coolant level kept on getting depleted. Comparing with my other car, I. E. A 2016 Toyota avalon, I never encountered these problems my Audi car was serviced sometime 2018 and apparently all gaskets of the engine were replaced after I complained about severe leaking of oil inside my car garage. Until I went online to get if there were similar complaints of other users of this car were reported. My friend's car of same Audi model was also experiencing the same issue. I was also observing a similar gas smell inside my Audi car, whenever I start the engine and my air vent is not closed for couple of months. When I had it serviced to check my vent filter, the mechanic also noticed that there was leaking oil near the filter housing. The brake power is so low despite having it serviced for brake assist recall sometime in 2016 despite new brake pads were installed. I also noticed that the brake fluid was getting lower sometime July 2023. Looking at the list of recalls - these complaints were not addressed by those 3 recalls reported to NHTSA.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

I purchased a used 2017 Audi Q7 premium on 11/16/2023 from a Volkswagen. Since it showed the message "brake pads: wear limit reached. You can continue driving. Please contact service", the agreed to repair it. I didn't receive my vehicle until 2 weeks later. They said that the work was done but after driving it for a couple of days the message is still showing. After driving it off the lot, minutes later I get a message "front left side marker light defective. See owner's manual". After examining the side markers it doesn't look the neither side is out and there is no way showing on how to clear the message. I haven't taken it to an Audi dealership as of yet. But worried on if I made the right purchase.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/17/2023

On Sep 17 2023 my wife was driving her Audi Q7. Which has 25,780 miles. She drove to a parking lot for a hiking trip, pressed on the brake and the car instead of stopping accelerated. She kept trying to press the brake, however the car did not stop until it hit a tree. The car has been towed to our house and it is not driveable. The car has not been inspected yet. I plan on calling the Audi dealer on Monday, Sep 18th. No lights appeared before the incident.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/12/2023

While driving with my 4 year-old daughter a notification appeared on the driver display that there is an “electrical malfunction” and to call the service department. A few minutes later, while actively driving on the same busy road in my town, the vehicle completely turned off, including the power steering and abs breaks. I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection with no hazard lights and no ability to even shift the vehicle into neutral to move it. I was genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety of my daughter, as we were stranded in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour. It was a harrowing experience to say the least. Eventually we had the vehicle towed. When I called Audi, they informed me that they suspected it was the “starter generator” and that they were aware of the issue, but this was the first I had heard of it. They subsequently confirmed that it was the starter generator and are less than accommodating.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 07/08/2023

2023 Audi Q7 the brake pedal randomly does not respond. This prevents the vehicle from being able to start, shift out of gear when parked, and the rear brake lights do not respond. My main concern is the brake lights not responding. I do not want to be injured in a collision when slowing down on the road. The vehicle has been sent back to the dealership twice. The first time the dealership could not duplicate the issue. There were no warning lights or system faults found when scanned. Two days latter the vehicle had to be towed due to the same issue not starting. The tow truck driver could not get the vehicle out of gear to move and noticed the brake lights not responding. Next day the vehicle was sent back to the dealership where they duplicated the problem but wanted to keep the vehicle for testing. The vehicle is still at the dealership 35+ days. I have multiple videos of the issue.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Engine malfunction piston rings oil consumption loud brakes.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/12/2023

While driving the vehicle, error messages began appearing on the in-panel dashboard display. At first, a yellow/orange battery icon appeared with the message "electrical system: malfunction! please contact service". Within an hour, the car experienced another electrical system malfunction (red battery icon appeared with the message "electrical system: malfunction! safely stop vehicle") along with a host of other error messages (brakes: malfunction, steering: malfunction, parking brake: malfunction, vehicle lights: malfunction, stabilization control (esc/abs): malfunction, drive system: malfunction, transmission: malfunction). The car was undrive-able at this point, coasted to a stop and could not be restarted while on an active roadway. The car had to be towed to the dealership, where it still remains today. * components or systems malfunctioned: electrical system, brakes, steering, parking brake, vehicle lights, stabilization control (esc/abs), drive system, transmission. It is available at the Audi dealership service location for inspection * my safety was put in significant danger due to the car shutting down on an active roadway with no control over the vehicle. * the problem has been confirmed by the dealer. * the vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service center but not by police or insurance representatives. * many warning lamps and messages appeared within an hour of the car becoming inoperable.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 10/07/2022

The car's parking brake system is not engaging when a door is opened while the car's transmission is in "drive. " normal operation requires the parking brake to be engaged when the door is opened. Audi is aware of the issue and has issued a software patch to flash the car's firmware. See https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10158462-9999. Pdf however, this is only done for cars in warranty. Since this is a safety concern it should be done for all cars as a car can roll when a door is opened and the parking brake is not automatically engaged as originally designed.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 01/25/2022

I recently purchased a cpo 2018 Audi Q7, and shortly after purchase, I encountered the problem indicated in this TSB about break squeal (https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2018/mc-10153128-9999. Pdf) I contacted the dealer (Audi north austin, located at 12971 pond springs road, austin, TX 78729) to fix this problem, but was refused because my car does not meet the criteria specified in the TSB, namely 24 months / 24,000 miles (my car has 27,700 miles). In doing so, I found another TSB (https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2018/mc-10153129-9999. Pdf) with the same problem as in my car. And it has different criteria, namely 48 months/50,000 mile. In this regard, I would like to ask why there are different criteria for the same problem? why are 2017 Audi Q7 models has 48 months/50,000 miles to fix this problem, but 2018 Audi Q7 only 24 months/24,000 miles ?.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 03/06/2021

While overtaking another car on a 2 lane road under high acceleration (90 mph) it appeared that all electronic systems in the car failed. The display showed several systems failing after another and beeping indicators were heard. The power breaking failed, only non-power assisted breaking, power steering failed and the engine stalled during the time while overtaking another car. I could still overtake the other vehicle and was able stop the car on the side of the road. When parking I shut off the ignition, started and was able to continue. The same issue happened later on that day. Then after that event the sos malfuction warning came on as well as the engine orange led (see picture). This had no direct effect on driving and this warning stayed on for about a week. Suddenly that warning disappeared.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

Today I heard a thumping sound from my brakes and it caused my brakes to malfunction. And my steering is also got hardened a bit. Is there a recall campain for my 2011 Q7 car for brake and steering issue? I've found out that 2012 2013 and 2017 models had recalls.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 06/16/2020

Two issues: the small portable air pump that came with the car would blow the fuse to the 12v cigarette lighter. After a new fuse is put in, this would happen on about every third or fourth time of using of the pump. I have replaced about 5 fuses already. The second issue is the squeaking of the rear brakes when backing up during cold or hot. However, it does happen more when cold/in the morning. A factory dealership had look at the issue but found nothing.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

Audi has a pre sense feature that will automatically slam on the brakes. It fails constantly and slams on the brakes at various times. So far it has been at slow speeds, but someone is going to get killed by this feature. There is no way to automatically turn it off, and it turns on every time you restart the car.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 03/22/2019

Front brakes engaged while driving without warning. Rear brakes ok. Front brakes overheated before I could safely stop. Smoke from front brakes evidenced the overheating. Towed to dealership who could not duplicate the problem.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 12/13/2018

I was taking a u-turn under a freeway in my 10 month old Audi Q7. As I was finishing the u-turn a stabilization error message appeared and my brakes went out. I was finishing my uturn and couldn't slow down soi ended up running into the cement barrier with my right back wheel and went onto the feeder. Luckily it was at 5am so no other cars were on the road. Hitting the barrier slowed by car down to 5 mph. As I straightened out my car, the brakes started working again. I had the car towed to the dealership. The dealership said Audi of America had to look at it. The engineer finally came to look at it on Jan 3rd (3 weeks after the accident). He said that they couldn't test drive the car because the control arm was broken but the tests they ran showed that nothing was wrong with the car and told me to call my insurance. I asked how they knew nothing was wrong and they said tests were run. I asked how they explained the error messages (stabilization error and safety error). They said those came up after the accident. They don't the time of the accident so how do they know this?. I took pictures of the error messages and know the timing of that. I asked for a print out of their findings 3 times. It has been 10 days and I still have not gotten anything from them. The car is still sitting at the dealership.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 10/25/2018

Bought vehicle from dealer with 22k miles, as a previous two year lease vehicle. After owning it for four days, noticed loud screech in brakes when backing up and applying brakes first time in the day. Took to local shop, and they found brakes to be ok, and that there is a bulletin on this with no fix at this time. But what they did find is very uneven wear on my front tire, which we would not have noticed. They said there was a bulletin on this at the 14k mileage mark for tire replacement on the goodyear eagles. We were fortunate that the dealer we purchased from agreed to replace all four tires for us with continentals. No hassles at all. Could have missed the notice since it was a lease vehicle. But I wonder how long we would have gone without knowing this??? if it wasn't for getting the brakes checked, we wouldn't have known. Waiting now for a fix on the brake noise. Kind of embarrassing when driving an expensive vehicle.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

Breaks squeal.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 02/05/2018

The brakes have squealed since 3k miles. No matter the weather conditions may be. We have been told that is normal, but I am researching otherwise. At 5am leaving the home, the brakes squeal, at 2pm squealing, 5pm squealing, midnight squealing. For being a luxury vehicle I love and trust, this makes me extremely nervous and embarrassed when neighbors are out and hear this squealing. The brake foot pedal does not glide when being used. The steering wheel has a locking motion when being used on turns.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 11/04/2017

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 10/24/2017

When moving the car in reverse from overnight parking in my garage, the brakes squeal excessively. This sound does not occur when braking while moving in a forward direction. The car stops appropriately, but the sound it quite loud in reverse braking mode. The sunroof creeks and pops during city driving and highway driving. I just read an article on consumerreports. Com about exploding sunroof problems and I'm concern that this could happen due to lack of reporting and manufacturers not taking ownership of the defect. Popping sounds coming from my sunroof have me concerned about my panoramic sunroof exploding during travel in the vehicle.

32 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Audi Q7

Failure Date: 09/22/2017

8500 miles brake squeal. Audi says there working on a fix for this issue and its been 6 months and still no repair they are ignoring the issue. Slow speed stop and reverse brakes squeal loud. Audi stated they have had this issue and I should have been told when purchased. I have a case number with them and its being ignored. This is an issue that will result in a problem if its not investigated they need to stop telling people this is normal. I asked Audi for a letter stating my care was safe to drive and they could not provide one witch is very concerning.
