1 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 12/08/2022

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 325i. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v119000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, there was a significant amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact drove to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the pcv valve heater fuses had failed. The dealer charged a fee for the repair because the recall remedy was not available. The dealer installed an inline fuse and wiring that connected the pcv valve to the pcv valve heater. The contact stated that he received a second notice advising that the recall remedy was available, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the recall repair was performed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact later contacted the manufacturer for reimbursement, but the manufacturer referred the contact back to the dealer for assistance. The contact stated that he followed up with the dealer, who advised him that the failure was not related to the recall. The contact was not reimbursed. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

3 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 10/05/2020

The problems I am having with my car include: high rpms when accelerating, massive gas consumption which I can provide bank statements to prove, massive coolant consumption, numerous oil leaks, rough idling, engine rattling, foul smell of vapors in the car while running, and constant car shaking. My car will cut off completely if the a/c is turned on or if sitting at a red light, so in return I would have to put my car in park while sitting at red lights. All of this is due to the pcv valve. This recall was not made aware to me if though I took my car to get serviced at the BMW dealership after the recall was announced. This is why I asked for goodwill assistance from BMW. Once my car was taken in to fix the recall BMW told me they would not help financially with the repairs of my vehicle due to the fact of the year and mileage. Corporate told me this after I had to chase them down all day because the dealership told me they needed a answer by 12pm and needed the loaner vehicle back. Once I received the answer of no I asked cody campbell if the recall was fixed . He replied saying yes. I drove to the dealership to then be sent back home because they said they were sealing some of the leaks for safety purposes. I found this odd because if you looked online and still look now as of 10:09pm on 10/05/2019 the recall still has not been fixed.

4 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 01/04/2015

The contact owns a 2003 BMW 325xi. While driving at approximately 50 mph, smoke appeared under the hood of the vehicle and filled the driver's cabin. The contact exited the vehicle and observed oil between the valve gasket and the head gasket as well as oil leaking underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off. When the oil dip stick was removed, hot oil shot out onto the contact. The contact was burned, but did not receive medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the pcv system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

6 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 03/03/2009

BMW 2002 325xi at low temperatures like 5 or 6 f. The crankcase vent valve froze and the high pressure built up caused the valve to blow and couple of gaskets burnt. Oil spilled over to the exhaust causing smoke coming out of the engine compartment. If driven couple of more miles the car would have been on fire. The car just has 67000 miles which is fairly low miles and new car. All the mechanics I talked to quickly recognized the problem and asked me not to drive at all. They said it can catch fire if driven little more. Its a common problem that most of the mechanics recognize and frequency is high but in cold states not in warmer states.
