Tl the contact owned a 2006 BMW 325i. While driving various speeds, the reservoir, abs, and window warning indicator illuminated, causing the vehicle to overheat. The contact would have to turn the vehicle off and back on, and attempt to drive without it overheating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the radiator tank needed to be repaired. The vehicle was taken to BMW of roseville (500 automall dr, roseville, CA 95661, (916) 790-1990) to be diagnosed; however, the dealer refused because the vehicle did not have a BMW battery. The failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

2 Radiator problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 06/19/2019

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 325i. While driving approximately 75 mph, the radiator warning indicator illuminated. The contact stopped at a fuel station, added water to the radiator, and continued driving. The contact drove to peter pan BMW (1625 adrian rd, burlingame, CA 94010) where it was diagnosed that a new radiator was needed. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was repaired on June 19, 2019 by the same dealer per NHTSA campaign number: 19v273000 (engine and engine cooling) and the failure occurred ever since. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.

3 Radiator problem of the 1995 BMW 325

Failure Date: 06/03/2015

The contact owns a 1995 BMW 325i. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the temperature gauge needle went to the hot position without warning. The contact pulled over and observed that the radiator was steaming. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the radiator reservoir and the temperature sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 98v178000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

4 Radiator problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 11/20/2009

Coolant light went on while driving. Went to dealership - technician stated that coolant tank was empty. Performed pressure test and found expansion tank and upper radiator hose leaking. Replaced expansion tank and upper hose.

5 Radiator problem of the 2005 BMW 325

Failure Date: 06/08/2008

The contact owns a 2005 BMW 325ci. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate and lose speed. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the speed did not increase. Suddenly, a large amount of dark smoke appeared from underneath the hood. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the vehicle needed a new radiator hose and they replaced all the fluids in the vehicle. A month after the repairs, while driving approximately 45 mph, the heater in the vehicle failed. Dark smoke appeared once again underneath the hood. The vehicle was towed to the dealer again and they kept it for over a week. The dealer stated that everything that was previously repaired from the first failure needed to be replaced again. They replaced everything and test drove the vehicle, in which everything seemed to be ok. Two weeks later, the failure recurred. The contact heard noises coming from the engine compartment and the service engine indicator illuminated. She pulled the vehicle over and smoke appeared from the front end. The contact managed to drive the vehicle to her job where it is currently parked. She called the dealer and was informed to bring the vehicle back. The contact believes that the vehicle is completely unsafe and should be recalled. The failure mileage was 53,859 and current mileage was 58,769.
