1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2017

I have an airbag deployment issue. Commonly defined as a 93a8 - code by BMW. This causes the drivers side airbag to get deactivated due to an issue with the triggering circuit from the airbag. This is a chronic BMW problem, with multiple reports from the consumer for the same issue. (I've attached forum reports) I have a car, that cannot be driven as the drivers side airbag is completely deactivated indicating a fault in the circuit. BMW is not taking responsibility and is indicating, I would have to bring the car in to pay for diagnostic fees and replacement of airbag module/harness & airbags. This is a big safety issue with a failing triggering circuit during general drive. Many consumers have reported on the same issue and this causes the airbag to not deploy during an accident.

BMW recall dated 11/12/2013, NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000. Recall up to 76,565 units for failures of front seat occupant protection mat. Air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident. Contacted BMW and was told my VIN does not fall into BMW range but I've been experiencing the exact failure since yesterday when I was driving down my driveway at 3 -5 mph with no one in the passenger seat. I purchased the vehicle new 2007, currently has 83,000 miles on the vehicle. BMW has likely not identified the true VIN range of vehicles impacted by defective occupancy mats and refuses to pay for replacement and told me it was "customers cost" because my car was manufactured in Dec. , 2006 and the recall only went through cars manufactured up till sept. 30 2006 manufacture date. I think asked her if they put in a new part on the vehicles in December vs. September of 2006 and she said she didn't know. It would seem like a logical item to have in their customer service help tools instead of refusing to fix a critical safety defect in the vehicle. I said there are hundreds of people with the same problem posting it on the internet and BMW should take responsibility for what they manufactured which she really didn't care, I guess she doesn't care if my air bag deploys or not. I said to her you are going to have another class action suit after a few people die which she didn't really care.

I have a 2007 BMW 328i and while driving down the interstate my air bag and restraint lights came on. I know there are recalls on them but when I add my VIN it is not one of them. I am a little worried that if I were to get into a accident the airbags will not deploy.

9 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

When a person is seated in the passenger seat, the seat belt and large airbag warning lights come on the dash and stay on. Once the passenger exits the car, the lights go off. I see there are recalls for the 2006 328i but not for the 2007. I am concerned that in the event of an accident, the air bag will not deploy.

10 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

I own a 2007 328i ,recently my car has been giving me an error message due to the front passger air bag sensor. Whenever, a passanger sits in the front it, a light turns on letting me know that the airbag is off. This means that in case of a serious car accident the airbag will not deploy and the passenger's life will be at risk. After the error message I did some research and found out that the issue is very common in the 3-series. BMW actually did a voluntary recall but it only involved 2006 3-series. However, I am experiencing the same issue that the recall was about. I took my car to BMW pacific in glendale and informed me that they would not be able to help me since my car was not part of the recall. Here is the recall that BMW announced: "statement on voluntary recall involving front passenger seat sensor mat on u. S. A. 11 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2012

We were in the left lane about to take a curve to the left when a car in the right lane ran us off the road straight into a telephone pole. I was in the passenger seat and my airbag did not deploy, as the drivers side did. My head hit the dash and I broke my nose, my teeth, and suffered a major concussion.

12 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2012

The passenger side occupancy sensor is a known problem and I believe that the warranty extension has not covered all affected vehicles. My BMW 2007 328 convertible has the identical problem as identified below. I have repaired it and it has continued to malfunction numerous times since, while driving and while stopped, creating a safety issue for anyone in the passenger side should there be an accident. I believe this faulty part must have been used in my 2007 328 convertible. August 2008 -- BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series (sport seat), my 2004-2006 5 series (standard and sport seat), and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. A fatigue failure of the front passenger seat occupant detection mat can occur. If this happens, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. In this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. BMW will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417. BMW is extending the warranty to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit to the following vehicles: my 2006 6-series, 3-series (standard seat), my 2004-2005 z4, my 2004-2006 7-series, my 2006 x5, and my 2004-2006 5-series (comfort seat). Under the extended warranty program, the occupant detection mat in a vehicle that experiences this specific issue will be replaced at no charge to the customer. This recall was the subject of an engineering analysis, ea08-001, conducted by the office of defects investigation. 08v384.
