Three problems related to front driver side air bag inflator have been reported for the 2011 BMW 328. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takata recall. Even though my car's driver's side airbag may contain the takata psdi-5 inflator, BMW has not issued a recall to replace it. I will not drive the car or let any of my family drive it until BMW replaces the psdi-5 inflator or determines that my car has a safe inflator. I spoke with a BMW-USA customer rep. On September 19, 2017 and his only answer to all of my questions and concerns was, "there is no recall on your car!" he would not even acknowledge the fact that there are over 800,000 BMW cars with faulty takata inflators yet to be replaced. I asked that my car be inspected and the inflator replaced if it was a psdi-5 or that BMW provide me a loaner car until they finally did fix mine. If my car contains the psdi-5 inflator it is as potentially deadly now as when BMW replaces it with a safe one and until they do, I will not drive the car. Will NHTSA help me in this situation?.
Takata inflators: I have been waiting almost a year for BMW to replace this airbag. I cannot sell the vehicle to a dealer until this is replaced. I expect my airbag to be replaced now. I want BMW to complete this ASAP. . . All I get from them is "parts are not available at this time". . . .
Received letter for recall of driver's side airbag inflator could rupture sending metal fragments causing serious injury or death. Letter dated March 2016. I called twice and parts on back order. Why so long and why should I continue to make monthly payments on a potentially deadly vehicle ??.
