While driving at city speed limit the headlights started flicking on-off very difficult to see in the dark. I pulled over to the side of the road for safety but now realized the turn signals not working and also the hazard lights are not working either. I was in a very dangerous situation sitting on the side of the road without any warning light on. Not only for mine safety but also dangerous for other drivers passing by without seen my car in the dark. Its due to well known BMW footwell module that has high failure incidents rate but BMW refused not to do a recall. Since this a safety issue NHTSA should request BMW to do a recall instead of just extended the warranty to 10/150k miles which my car is not qualify for. I've contacted BMW customer care but they refused to offer any assistance. I feel that BMW has deserted their customer and leaving a high cost burden on their customers although failure/flaw was directly from BMW.

My interior door handle cannot unlock the door. As I pull on the interior door handle, the door lock pin would come up partially, but it doesn’t unlock or open the door. I tried multiple pulls, because this car required two pulls to unlock.
My vehicle caught on fire while parked and unoccupied. Fire started in the engine compartment.

The sunroof of my 2014 BMW 328i sedan exploded while driving on a highway at 75mph. The explosion sounded like a gunshot or a truck tire exploding. Thankfully I kept control of the car and the pull shield was closed preventing a majority of the glass from raining down on me and my passenger. We did pull over to the side of the highway were a witness described the glass as exploding up and sliding down the back of the car. Glass was found in the trunk crevasse of the car and inside the vehicle. Next, we proceeded to a safe location off the freeway and found the sunroof glass to have a hole in the center. The remaining glass was protruding upwards in a convex shape. To note, I did not have cars in front me during the explosion so no direct impact from a rock or other debris. My dealership has the car for inspection and repair. A claim with my insurance has been submitted. My car had a comprehensive service in may of 2022.
Passenger door lock failed and does not allow the door to be opened in an emergency. The door is designed to be unlocked by the first pull of the door handle then unlatched with the second pull of the handle, however after the first handle pull the lock immediately locks again preventing the second pull from unlatching the door. The system would be available for inspection. This problem has been reproduced and confirmed by manufacturer's dealer, but has not been inspected the electric door lock actuator had failed about a year ago, but still allowed the door lock to be used manually without any disruption to being able to open the door.

Car spontaneously caught fire.
I was driving just my 3rd day of having my car and I come outside and its wrecked someone hit the driver side front panel and bumper.
My son was injured by the impact of an accident on may 30th, 2021. He was driving when a car sped past him, lost control, slammed into the center median guardrail, then into the drivers side door of my sons car. The impact was strong enough to dent and puncture a large hole in the door, yet the side impact air bags did not deploy. Nor did any other air bag. We still currently have the vehicle.
Child safety lock window get stuck and remain stuck, glass window will not roll up. The rotary on this vehicle manufacturing is damaged and I have done numerous research trying to find a solution and found that there is a big community of frustrated BMW owner with the same issue but BMW is not willing to acknowledge this fail window manufacturing error. This is the rear child seat window and it stuck. It has stuck before at a parking lot at work and I had to end up seating there to for almost an hour until it roll up. This time it will not roll up and I had to leave the window down while parking the car at the hospital. Please do diligence and research this as many owner are frustrated. The dealership wants to charge 700 to fix it!.
Hood will not open due to faulty cables and latches. Unable to access the engine compartment to replace front headlight bulbs or replace vehicle fuses.
Occasionally it is impossible to unlock the door from the inside with the manual door unlock. The door operates in a two-step manner - pull the door latch once to unlock the door, and then pull again to open the door. However, sometimes the first pull fails to unlock the door and the only way to unlock the vehicle is with the electric door unlock. When this occurs, there is notable tension in the door handle, and the pop-up unlock indicator does move upwards in synch with the door handle position - it's simply not reaching the unlock point, and there is resistance felt in the door latch. Even trying to assist the mechanism by grasping the unlock indicator (as doors used to be unlocked in this fashion) does not work. Obviously, if the electric system fails for any reason, not being able to open the door is a major safety issue. When this happens it is also observed that the electric lock operates very slowly. Instead of the post popping up and unlocking almost immediately, it takes a second or two for the door to unlock, as if there is additional internal resistance in the mechanism. This is observed on both the driver and passenger side doors. I have brought this to the attention of the dealer on separate occasions. The suggestion has been to replace a cable in the door due to stretch. However, based on the nature of the issue and the symptoms in both doors it seems like an issue with the latch or locking mechanism itself. The passenger door is unlocked very infrequently compared to the driver's door and it seem unlikely they would wear at the same rate if it was a cable stretch issue. I have been able to record a video of this problem occurring. I plan to show it to the dealer at my next service in the next couple weeks since they were unable to replicate the issue.
Just finished driving about 10 miles from home to work, about 70 degrees-f outside, sunny, good weather around 11am. Did not operate air conditioner, heater or vent fan. Car seemed to drive fine, no strange noises. Had no recent major repairs. We are second owners of certified pre-owned BMW, have had vehicle for the past 7 years and driven about 50k miles since purchase. After arriving at workplace, stopped at workplace parking lot with engine idling for a few seconds to wait for parking gate to open. However, began seeing white smoke coming out of driver's side of engine hood. Tried to reverse the vehicle out to the street and moved about 10ft before engine shut off and would not restart. Within 15-30 seconds a plume of fire erupted out of the front hood through the grill. Within 3 minutes entire car was engulfed in flames and its proximity to other cars in the lot caused fire damage to 4 other vehicles. Car was a total loss including all possessions within it. Electronic locks quit working as soon as fire started.
While car was parked in a strip mall parking lot and shut off, car ignited in flames and is now a total loss.

My license plate has 1 screw that fits into the metal made holes. It is suppose to have 2 screws that fit into the metal holes in the trunk. The plate itself has screws with no backs and are stripped. I don't want the license plate to rattle and fall off from faulty workmanship with license plate panel. Also the front plate is completely different from the back license plate panel and these screws look stripped too.
Front/driver door will not unlock from time to time when I pull the handle.
Intermittently it is not possible to open the doors from the inside of my vehicle using the door handle. . The door remains locked and will not open from the inside by pulling the door handle. The only known workaround is to find the "unlock all doors" button on the dashboard to unlock the doors and it's not clear that this is a viable solution for all cases. . Read more...

My 2014 surged automatically in a parking lot and the brakes failed repeatedly: it took me over the 4" cement parking lot stopper and into a wall! this was the only way the vehicle would stop! iwill say that just before I had backed out very slowly as I was in a parking lot. I hit somethig, put my foot on the brake, then put car in drive to pull a few feet back into the parking spot. I used very little gas, not necessary of course. BMW engineers examined it and found no error according to their three standard tests. I was told that their tests "may not record something," "could not duplicate my concerns," and that it would take "a more severe impact to record something. " nothing could be tested or recorded for speeds under 35 miles per hour. I got a concussion and the incident cost $ 17,000 (plus loss of car value). BMW did nothing for me so I am out of a BMW for good. I had just put the car in drive to pull back into the parking space I was in. In all fairness I did hit something, stopped, foot on brake put it in drive. There is no way it outght to have surged out of control or failed to stop. I was going less than 5 mph. BMW will do nothing for me except give me a courtesy discount on a different BMW once I've purchased it. Their dealers have offered me less than competitors. I won't buy another one. ## VIN passed ## BMW 328i2014 ##.
I bought this car from the dealership so I have to return the car because all this issues and now the car is for sale again at the dealership.
Car involved in rear end collision and car caught fire and burned up. Air bags did not deploy. Car was in slow motion approaching a stop light when hit in rear . Road conditions sunny and dry. My car was pushed into car in front causing more damage. Accident occurred in illinois 159 in glen carbon, ill.
Both the driver and passenger door locks occasionally fail to unlock preventing exit from the vehicle. This has occurred about 12-15 times to either my wife or myself. There is a master lock/unlock button that will unlock the doors. Never the less, this defect could be a serious problem in an emergency.
My moonroof spontaneously exploded today (around 5:40pm). I was driving open road (city, about 30-35mph) and there was no evidence of a rock or other foreign body other than glass in my cabin. The edges of the remaining glass of the moonroof tilted upwards. The noise and glass surprised me and I drifted into the median briefly before calming down/regaining control.
Intermittent issue where driver's side door won't unlock from the interior using the door handle. Door will not open until it's unlocked. Door can be unlocked using the electric central locking, and then opened using the handle.
The vehicle was stationary in a garage. With vehicle either running or not running, we were unable to exit the vehicle as we were unable to unlock and open both front and the left rear doors, from the inside (using the door levers, central locking system button, and remote) or from the outside (using the door handle, key, and remote). The only ways to exit the vehicle were to climb through a window or over the front seats (difficult) to access the right rear door. To get the doors to unlock, I needed to replace a fuse in the fuse panel and disconnect the battery for at least 30 seconds. This could be a death trap if in an accident, high water, extreme cold, etc.
When in park or with engine "off" the driver and passenger doors fail to open when internal handle is pulled. The pin rises when handled is pulled and retracts back when handle is released failing to "unlock" the door. Vehicle cannot be exited in a case when fast eggres is needed or when there is no power to use the power lock/unlock. Can be deadly in a car fire or similar grave condition.
I was driving on I-91 at normal highway speed and the car suddenly started decelerating on its own with no warning lights or other indication of a problem. I pulled over immediately and shut the engine off and got out to investigate and saw smoke under the hood. I called 911 and the car was visibly on fire by the time they arrived.

I was driving at a slow speed during heavy traffic in town at 4 pm on a sunny day. The car ahead of me slowed down even more and when I was trying to slow my car too, it did not slow down at all. I did hit the car ahead of me at a slow speed and the air bag deployed causing severe injury to my right wrist and to the left wrist. It caused profuse bleeding because the air bag caused cuts in my wrist area, very close to a vein. A five inch hematoma appeared within minutes in the right wrist and the skin was scraped off both wrists. Several burn marks are also visible all the way up to the bend of my arms. The police came within minutes and they bandaged my wrists to try to stop the bleeding. An ambulance was called and the emt wanted to transport me to a hospital.
On 11/12, my 2008 BMW 328xi caught fire in a parking lot. Two private appraisers deemed this a manufacturer error based on a faulty electrical system.
Doors will not unlock manually from time to time. The only way to unlock is to use the central unlocking feature. Could be deadly in a crash! BMW will not even look at the car unless I pay them a $150 diagnostic fee! car is stopped, engine off, and the front doors (both) will not manually unlock from time to time. Only way to get out is to use central unlocking button, which requires power.
Recall campaign no 17v-683: pcv valve heater and 17v-676: blower motor wiring. The new recall BMW call stalling while driving. Car shuts off. I took my BMW to south motors BMW was due to the 3 recalls cause by the manufactures defect. The last recall was risk of engine completely stalling(stopping) while driving which happen to me while driving on a city street with children in the car. We met with a BMW service advisor and he said that south motors BMW service more than 100 BMW since last year and they are only fixing the BMW's as a courtesy. He than stated he had to order a couple of parts for the recall, to give him a couple of days. He called the very next day and said the parts were in and advise that he have to charge a fee because his technician have to get paid. He gave us a price of more than $3,000 and said this is nothing, we charge the last customer for her BMW $12,000 we are giving you a good price. It gets worse they kept my BMW for another 5 days, smash the front of my BMW. The manager stated he is not sure who smash the front of my BMW, he said about 7 workers were driving my car while it was being service for the recalls. I was in tears, he looked at me and said it's just a car.
